MOVE IT LIKE...YOU
I was delighted to appear in the FORWARDER magazine ‘Move it Like’ showcase earlier this
year. The opportunity to speak candidly about the success of our company, my influence on that, and
the ingredients that contribute to our continued success was appreciated. NNR is a global ‘premium brand’ that, although established for over a 100 years in Asia, is not particularly well known in the UK. The feature in Forwarder Magazine offered the stage for us to future promote our business. The moniker ‘secret assassin’ and ‘largest company you’ve never heard of’ no longer suits the brand and size of our global group, therefore features like ‘Move it Like’ in a classy glossy such as FORWARDER are the perfect vehicle to help change that perception. Now I’ve recovered from the marginal discomfort
of a little more attention than normal (!), I can reflect that it provided a strong and personal message that many of our key partners and customers read and responded favourably too. Lee Griffiths, NNR

DON’T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT... In 2017 I was proud to be included in the popular FORWARDER feature 'Move It Like'. As a leading publication within the logistics

highlight how Ligentia continues to meet our customers' requirements through customised solutions. I found the process rewarding and my relationship with FORWARDER has continued to develop as my career has progressed to a global role. I would highly recommend

structures in order to establish a network with a high level of trust. A peer-2-peer collaboration network could be owned by either a large industry consortium or by a neutral tech-based company with no own interests in logistics. While it is certainly complicated and time consuming to bring a larger group of companies involved in container logistics together, there are some existing examples such as INTTRA in its early days. Today, some companies and small consortia are trying to gain traction—such as IBM/Maersk— but they are struggling as companies do not want to give their data away to a competitor. A tech player or a completely neutral platform with no own interests in shipping could solve the problem. Again, xChange comes as a handy example by providing a completely neutral platform without any industry investment. More

or the first time in the UK, all companies, charities and public sector departments of 250 employees or more were required by law to publish their gender pay gap figures. The results showed that 78% of companies reported a pay gap that favours men, with the transportation and storage sector averaging at 6.8% – by far not the worst industry for gender pay gaps but still a way to go! Yet, these
figures only scratch the surface of workforce diversity. Diversity is more than gender pay gaps, it is about bringing together people of all backgrounds, beliefs, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical ability and, yes, gender. 2019 is a momentous year for UKWA and we want to do something special. What could be more fitting for our logistics sector and UKWA members than funding essential logistics infrastructure, expertise and training that has the potential to save thousands of lives? We are planning a number of high profile fund-raising events throughout the year – details of which will be announced in due course. UKWA was launched in 1944 when representatives from warehousing companies formed a committee to discuss the storage and distribution of food and materials in wartime Britain. Today the organisation is the leading trade body dedicated to serving the needs of the UK’s logistics industry and has over 700 members who, between them, control nearly 100 million square feet of warehousing space from nearly 1300 locations across the UK. Transaid, which was founded founded by its Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, along with Save the Children and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, transforms lives through safe, available and sustainable transport solutions across sub-Saharan Africa.
