Eating for a Healthy HEART

Ages 18 & up According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Heart disease claims more lives than any other disease in the U.S. A combination of poor dietary choices and lifestyle factors contribute to this and other major diseases. A whole foods antiinflammatory diet focusing on key nutrients can stop the progress and in many cases even reverse diseases in their tracks. Like many leading cardiologists who believe in the power of nutrition say, ‘Genetics is like a loaded gun. Diet and environmental factors act like a trigger.’ So the good news is that genetics alone does not determine one’s susceptibility. The new field of Nutrigenomics shed a lot of light on how we can choose to keep our bad genes turned off and keep the good genes turned on using key nutrients. Join me in my Healthy Heart workshop this fall where I will discuss proven dietary and nutrition protocols, sort through the confusion in the field of nutrition by separating facts from myths, and steer you towards a path of wellness and vitality. $9 material fee due at class.

Ages 6-14 It is said that to drop in a ramp or bowl shoots a skateboarders confidence up through the roof! If you have dropped in before you know this statement is true. Now that you have dropped in and have understood the subtle workings of pumping transition, carving, kick turns, and navigating the various terrains of the skatepark. You are now ready to step up your progression! The Intermediate level can be divided into two disciplines. Park and Street. Although we don’t like to typically separate the two, we do want our students to understand the basic difference between street skating and park skating. In this lesson plan you will be introduced to a long list of options for learning and progression. Whether it’s street or park skating that you gravitate towards we want you to have all the building blocks that will make you the best you can be and allow you to enjoy your new found level of progress! Intermediate level riders will learn: Street skating tricks such as ollies, shuv-its, kick flips, rails, stairs and ledges. Bowl skating will focus on lip tricks, airs and over all creative skating.
