RECREATION SCHOLARSHIP Donations

With summer fast approaching and remote learning taking a toll on children’s ability to socialize and participate in physical activity, Fremont Recreation is looking to businesses and individuals to support our scholarship program to help provide youth in the community the needed emotional, social, and physical connection through summer camps and programs. Each year a large portion of our scholarships are supported by Fremont’s local businesses. Without these donations many local children would not be able to enjoy summer camps. Peter Scales, Ph.D., a senior fellow with the Search Institute in Minneapolis, and a noted educator, author, and psychologist, says, “Camp is one of the few institutions where young people can experience and satisfy their need for physical activity, creative expression and true participation in a community environment.” With your support, 100% of your donation will be used for Fremont’s low-income families who need support to enroll their children in programs such as swim lessons, summer camps, enrichment classes, and more. Consider making an donation online at Fremont.gov/Donate For larger donors, please contact Lance Scheetz at lscheetz@fremont.gov for the many benefits you may be eligible to receive.

Youth Service Corps (YSC) What’s the best way to prepare for life, employment, and civic engagement? Get involved in the community! Teen Leadership Academy is designed to provide teens practical experience in job training and local government. Through community service and education, students will accumulate service hours required for graduation, help gain valuable leadership skills for future employment, and gain valuable experience to add to their resume and college applications! Space is limited so register early!
