“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” – Buddha
PARKS SPOTLIGHT Each newsletter will feature two parks in Fremont. Whether you frequent the outdoors, or are just looking to spend some family time in nature, this is the section for you! Warm Springs Community Park is located at 47328 Warm Springs Blvd and has 3 tennis courts, a full-length basketball court, 2 playgrounds, and brand-new restrooms. There are picnic tables and an ample amount of shade in the large grass area; a great spot for a family picnic or a nice stroll to take in a breath of fresh air. Also located on-site is the 6000 square-foot Warm Springs Community Center, which is one of Fremont’s reservable facilities; check for closure updates. (continued on page 3)

SPORT KEEPS YOU HEALTHY There are many great benefits of exercise and playing a sport. Exercise triggers chemicals in the brain that can make you feel happier and relaxed. We all know sports affect your physical health, but it also reduces stress, improves mental health, and even increases confidence to build leaders. Whether you’re 4, over 55, or any age in between, consider finding a sport just right for you or your child(ren). Explore a sport here.
HAVE A SAFER ST. PATRICK'S DAY The safest way to celebrate is gathering virtually or with people who live with you. Make food or a gift and drop them off to loved ones. Drive or walk with St. Patrick’s Day gear on and wave to folks from a safe distance. Throw a virtual dance party and collaborate with friends and family on a playlist. Prepare a special movie night, game night, meal, and/or dessert. Have a picnic outside.
If you plan to celebrate with people who don’t live with you, outdoors is safer than indoors.
MONTHLY FUN FACTS Did you know the month of March is known for many things? International Women's Day is on March 8, where we celebrate women's achievements, raise awarness against bias, and take action for equality. Daylight Savings Time takes place on March 14, where we will set our clocks ahead one hour. March doesn't only bring us green hills, it also brings the "green holiday" of St. Patrick's Day on March 17. If you are a college basketball fan, NCAA March Madness is set to begin on March 18.
HELP KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE Wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart PAGE 02
Last but not least, the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere is on March 20, which signifies the beginning of spring.

REGE'S RUN FOR A REASON Rege’s Virtual Run took place in January. Thank you to all that participated and sent in their entries. Just from the submissions, together we covered over 1,800 miles – that’s like traveling from Fremont, CA to Kansas City, MO. (we’re not in Fremont anymore!). Together, we also worked out for over 380 hours that’s a lot of time away from the screen, giving your eyes a welldeserved break. Stay tuned for another fun run in Spring! Congratulations to the random prize drawing winners! Jeffrey D. and Rithesh N., both from Fremont. Here are some of the photos participants shared with us.

CRAFTY CORNER Leprechaun’s Rainbow in a Jar SUPPLIES NEEDED: 4-6 glasses or cups warm water
Measuring teaspoon
1 cup measuring cup
Spoon baster or pipette
Sugar
Test tube or narrow vase
Food coloring (rainbow colors) 1. Measure (1) cup of water to each glass with a few drops of food coloring, adding a different color to each glass. 2. Use the measuring teaspoon to add a different amount of sugar to each glass. Stir until as much of the sugar is dissolved as possible. 3. Use your baster or pipette to create a colorful rainbow in a jar. Squeeze the baster/pipette and put it in the red water. Release a little of the pressure to suck up some red water. Keeping it squeezed, transfer to orange, release a little more to suck up some orange water. Continue to do this for all the colors. Make sure you leave enough pressure in the baster to get you through all six colors. 4. Carefully squeeze the contents of baster/pipette into your test tube/vase.
WHY DOES THIS WORK? DENSITY! The more sugar in each glass of water, the greater the density of the water. Same space, more stuff in it! The denser the substance, the more likely it will sink. This is how our Leprechaun’s Rainbow in a Jar works!
Do you see the Leprechaun's rainbow?

You can decide to keep the pulp or strain using a sieve. Squeeze 2 limes in. Stir mixture. Place ice in some cups and pour 2-parts juice and 1-part carbonated water. Add garnish if desired. As the Irish say to toast, “Sláinte!” (pronounced slawn-CHA), which means “Health!”
