Adult Pastel Drawing - Magnificent Masters
This Young Rembrandts Pastel Art workshop will focus on five different artists. Each class, we will create a large, original pastel drawing replicating a famous artist’s masterpiece. We will start Week 1 with a colorful goldfish bowl as Henri Matisse did in his Goldfish painting. In Week 2, we will recreate Vincent Van Gogh’s famous Starry Night complete with swirls throughout the sky. Week 3, we will create powerful still life full of robust color as Paul Cezanne did often in his paintings. Week 4 will find us drawing Andre Derain’s Portrait of Matisse. On the final day, we will draw as Thiebald did for his Cake Paintings. Each class will challenge us with the pastel media. But in the end, we will be Masters ourselves. A new, advanced-level photography class will use the beautiful Fremont Patterson House as backdrop and interior environment to explore artistic and commercial photography techniques and tools. The program will include lessons in interior “real-estate” style photography (problems and best practices)documentary photography of a historical site lightpainting tools and techniques. All participants will get an amazing hands-on experience with a blanket-over-the-head view camera.
