Chess teaches critical and abstract thinking, planning, logic, and patience. In the beginner class, students will learn the basics of chess, such as movements and the values of pieces, check and checkmate, and essential opening concepts. In the advanced class, players will go over various tactics, openings, and end game solutions with focus on theoretical and strategic aspects of chess. Each class will include 25 minutes of instruction and 25 minutes of tournament style games.

All supplies will be provided.

Storybook Cooking for Small Chefs

In a small group setting, the stories from children’s literature we read will inspire the recipes we learn to create. The City of Fremont and the Fremont Football league will be offering a Youth Flag Football League for boys and girls Three age groups will be offered (5-7, 8-10, and 11-14). This league will have a 8 game season with 2 weeks of playoffs. Teams will practice 1 day a week, with the coach/team option of holding another practice on their own if they like. That schedule will be set after teams are formed. There will be a $30 Equipment Fee due prior to first game. The Introduction to skateboarding class is specifically tailored for those with NO PRIOR skateboarding experience. This level focuses on learning the foundational skills that newcomers need to develop in order to become confident while riding in the skatepark environment. The intro-level rider will learn: Skateboard safety, Learn how to push, Balance on board, correct Foot Placement, Turning & Navigation, Stopping the board and Skatepark Etiquette. (5-15 Hours of Lesson Time recommended-After student is assessed, they will be able to move on to next level).

The Intermediate class is for skaters who have a solid understanding of the foundational mainstays of skateboarding. They are proficient in all the entry level skills and can now ride and navigate the flat areas of the skatepark with ease and confidence. They are now ready to build upon their riding skills by further manipulation of their board and body. In this lesson plan, riders will work with their trainers to learn how to utilize the various features of the skatepark. They will enhance their navigation skills and also become proficient in riding up and down embankments, learn how to pump transition, along with carving and dropping in to bowls and ramps. Yoga for Youth

Ages 8-12

Let your kids experience the fun and benefits of yoga in this 4-week session.

They will learn basic, essential yoga poses, to help them develop strength, flexibility, and balance. They will also learn simple deep breathing exercise and relaxation techniques to calm and rejuvenate their minds. We will integrate learning yoga with games to make the class fun and delightful. Bring your own mat and water.

Outdoor Mini Soccer Skills League

Ages 5-12

The Mini Soccer League is designed to give players the opportunity to play soccer in a scrimmage setting with many touches on the ball for development. Players are not on set teams so we won’t have blown out games and everybody can develop their skills and have fun. The structure of the time there will always be a technical skill warm up for the first 10-15 minutes, then they are placed into equal sided teams to play. The coaches will reinforce sportsmanship and take breaks, as well as change players on teams to make sure the game is as balanced as possible. Coaches will also reinforce the basic rules of the game such as throw-ins, goal kicks and corners.

NEW: All players will get a t-shirt from USSC! All USSC coaches have a USSF license and have specialist training and certifications.

Part of being in an academy is that players are coached the correct skills at the correct ages for them to develop at the best possible rates in the game of soccer. At US Soccer Coaching we have a specific curriculum tailored to build on each ages key technical skills of dribbling, passing, shooting and control all wrapped in an age appropriate structure. Players will have a technical warm up for the first 15 minutes then be taken through more technical training of that skill with a higher degree of challenge in each new drill. Each session will end with a scrimmage for the final 15-20 minutes. NEW: All players will get a t-shirt from USSC! Shin guards are required. Bring water. All USSC coaches have a USSF license and have specialist training and certifications.
