Getting Started with Java Programming
Ages 11-14
This class introduces students to Java programming in a fun, understandable, step-by-step way. Students work on laptops and use the Java-based, Processing language to construct interactive graphics, animations, and games. We’ll use the most important fundamentals of coding to create interactive and graphical programs with loops, conditionals, arrays, and basic object-oriented programming (OOP). Students end the class by designing two arcade-style games made entirely with code. Processing is built on Java, but it hides unnecessary Java elements, reducing the amount of code needed to create programs, and Processing enables you to create art, animations and games with relative ease. No prior programming experience is required but familiarity with typing is helpful. Everyone will bring home their projects at the end of the session. BAR 239816

SPORTS CAMPS
We have created a camp designed around Game Day. Game Day will incorporate what you learned from the 2-week camps and put it all together in live action games. This one week camp is designed to complement the 2-week camps, and players are encouraged to register for at least one 2-week camp. Players will review the basics, and have sufficient practice time during the camps to make sure they get a chance to perfect the skills learned in prior camps.
EXTENDED CARE
Are you looking for morning and/or afternoon options for your child? We offer extended care options for most of our Summer Break Camps. Qualified staff will provide a variety of games and activities. Extend your child’s Summer Break Camp by registering for the AM, PM, or even both!
