FBC Introduction Message

FBC Executive Committee

Dear Members, Partners and Friends, We are pleased to share with you the FBC Annual Report for the financial year 2017-2018 which gives you a glimpse into our activities from the past year. Last year was a remarkable one for the FBC as we celebrated our 30th anniversary; this year also gave us the opportunity to celebrate new success as the FBC opened its second business center in Dubai Silicon Oasis and won two prestigious awards. All of these achievements and milestones are the result of a very close collaboration between a proactive Board which represents fairly the diversity of our business community and our dedicated permanent team. This teamwork greatly contributes to maintain and grow the FBC’s notoriety in Dubai, in the UAE and beyond. Our membership base with 800 members is still growing with a significant increase of our Patron members as French companies continue to set up their Middle East headquarters in Dubai for their regional operations despite of the current challenging economical and geopolitical environment. That is why, beside the largest French Companies represented in Dubai, which are the backbone of our organization, we support and encourage the development of SMEs and startups led by ambitious French entrepreneurs. We are very pleased to notice an increase in their participation to our activities and a growing engagement on the different events we’ve organized this year. With more than 100+ events across different departments in 2017-2018, we look forward to pursuing new initiatives in accordance with your feedback of more business matching and image visibility. In such a fast moving environment, it is also crucial for the FBC to remain agile. In this context, we have proposed to our Members a revised version of FBC Articles of Association for approval. In 2019, “France on the road to Expo 2020” will be our vision and the theme of our activities this year; in this regard, the FBC will play an active part in working with COFREX (Compagnie Française des Expositions) to ensure the success of the various initiatives undertaken in Dubai to prepare the French participation to Dubai Expo 2020. The mission of the FBC will also be to emphasize the importance of Expo 2020 as a catalyst for business activities of our community not only regionally in the ME, but also in Asia and Africa. We will also continue to work collectively as a team with other members of the French ecosystem to increase our visibility as a team and strengthen the French Savoir faire and expertise. On the behalf of all the FBC team and Board members, we warmly thank our Members, Sponsors and Partners for their constant support and inspiration.

Working Groups

Presentation The French Business Council Dubai & Northern Emirates has developed several sectorial committees, clubs and working groups with the ambition to be an efficient source of best practices and information and a networking platform for professionals. From specific subjects to general topics, the committees deliver key information on doing business in Dubai, the U.A.E. and in the Middle East. Beyond the informative aspect, these platforms offer unique opportunities to network and share experiences and expertises with peers in the same industry as well as liaise with key governemental and private Emirati organisations. Many events (conferences, breakfast talks, seminars or site visits) are organised thoughout the year. The French Business Council’s sectorial committees are intended to be collaborative platforms pursuing the following objectives: • Share best practices within a sector, • Encourage small, medium and large enterprises of a same sector to work together, • Engage with the local authority by highlighting / promoting the committees actions, • Develop synergies with other business councils, • Take advantage of network events to generate new business opportunities.
