News from the Class has been coming in lately. At our annual get together on Sanibel last February Martha Kegan Graham reported that this year she and Jack were renting the house they used to own and found it quite different as renters than as owners. I’m hoping that they will continue to come, as Bill and I always enjoy our yearly breakfast at the Sunset Grill. Through the grapevine I hear that Dan Reed and Nick Stoer visited Martha in Salisbury last fall and had a great time together. Danny and his wife now own a condo in Berlin, MD. Nick and his wife came from Kent Island. News gleaned from that is that Nick, a master gardener, is now doing the garden plans for his neighborhood. I heard from Alice Seivold McDonald recently. She sent a photo of her grandsons Simon and Bela with Bernie Sanders after attending a round table discussion with the senator in February. Alice and her partner Karl (former Canadian educator, worldwide traveler, adventurer and leader of African safaris) live a full and interesting life traveling in the U.S. and abroad. Karl lectures on cruises, which leads to many travel opportunities. I visited Baltimore in early April this

year and had lunch with Ann Green Slaybaugh, Fay Karfgin Stephens and Meredith Felter. Meredith is wrapping up the last stages of her book, Devon Hill Long Walk Through the Seasons. I was able to see a copy of the manuscript when I visited. In the book, Meredith describes her many years as the resident gardener in charge of all the gardens at Devon Hill in Baltimore. It is a work of love and beautifully illustrates and describes the trees and plants at Devon Hill. Ann is keeping busy at her home in Catonsville. She is planning a trip to London sometime later this year. Fay plans a trip to Cape May this summer. Bob Feild writes that he and Trish have been to Playa Del Carmen and Cancun in Mexico this year. They are busy with their home in Roland Park and a condo in Rehoboth Beach. Bob says he is still practicing architecture, walking their dog Scout and tending their garden. Ted Rosenberg contacted me with news about his travels to China where he and Michelle spent the winter on an island in the

restaurants, museums, and theater. As for my news, last year was such a busy year with travels to the far corners of the earth. Bill and I have now lived at River Woods in Exeter, N.H. for a year. It has been a big adjustment for us but we have loved making new friends, and taking up new interests which include attending great lectures, exploring Exeter and Portsmouth and the many good restaurants in these towns, walking along the many trails on the 200-acre campus, tending our manageable garden outside our cottage and many other activities. We also took in a rescue dog a few weeks ago who we pretty much adore. After a year off from traveling we are again venturing out into the world and going to Portugal and Spain in June.
