2022 Annual REPORT The year

A Message from the 2022 Chair of the Board

As I reflect on the past year, I am proud to report that the Frisco Chamber of Commerce has made significant progress in several areas. Together, we have made great strides in strengthening the Frisco Chamber by formalizing our strategic plan, hosting more impactful events, and establishing the Frisco Chamber Foundation.

This year, our "Solutions Groups" have been hard at work brainstorming innovative ideas in the key focus areas identified in our strategic plan – workforce issues/advocacy, small business ecosystem, community nonprofit assistance, and financial literacy. These key initiatives will allow us to work on essential areas in the community that will make a long-lasting impact.

The events put on by the Frisco Chamber have emerged even stronger after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful for the support of our members and the community in making these events a success.

Our Frisco Chamber of Commerce Foundation, a future 501(c)(3) organization will help us continue pushing the Frisco Chamber forward in our key focus areas and will also allow us to strengthen our existing programs, such as Leadership Frisco and our Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

Our impactful events, the development of our Foundation, and the formalization of our strategic plan will all aid in our ability to stay current with the rapid growth of Frisco's dynamic business landscape.

It has been a pleasure to serve as the Chair of the Board for the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, and I am honored to pass the torch to our new Board Chair, Ashley Miller. I am incredibly proud of the quality of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and I have no doubt that they will continue to do great things under the leadership of our Frisco Chamber President/CEO, Tony Felker, and his amazing Frisco Chamber team.

Thank you for your support and dedication to the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.

Our impactful events, the development of our Foundation, and the formalization of our strategic plan will all aid in our ability to stay current with the rapid growth of Frisco's dynamic business landscape.

A Message from the President and CEO

Frisco, Texas is one of the fastest-growing, highest-quality, and most business-friendly communities anywhere in the country! Whether you are a longtime resident, one of this year’s newest residents (over 10,000 strong), are visiting or thinking of relocating here, we are glad you are ihere!

Frisco’s population has exploded over the past several decades, and I am proud to say that through the events of the past few years, Frisco has also grown in other ways! We’ve grown stronger, more resilient, and more innovative. By overcoming obstacles and recognizing and seizing new opportunities, we as a business community have transformed!

I moved to Frisco in 1997, joined the Frisco Chamber of Commerce team in 2004, and, since that time, have seen both the community and landscape transform drastically! The population of Frisco was around 16,000 residents in 1997 and now has climbed to over 210,000 today. Surprisingly, there is still room to grow!

Approximately 25% of Frisco’s land is still available for new development. Much of this land includes the 2,500 contiguous acres in the Field’s Development in the northern part of the city, which also encompasses 600-acres for the PGA World Headquarters. Along with this new development, major redevelopment projects are beginning…this continued growth means more jobs in Frisco, increased sales tax revenue, stable property taxes, and more opportunities for everyone!

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce, which has been serving the community for over 50 years, is also in a period of transformation. Our new strategic plan has come about as a result of the many world and regional events over the past two years. As we face the ongoing consequences of the pandemic, chambers of commerce have gone from being “relevant” to being “ESSENTIAL,” and now, we must ensure that the Frisco Chamber of Commerce remains an essential catalyst to the business community. Our strategic plan sets the direction to “transform” the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and the Frisco business community into a more purposeful and productive place of business for all involved.

In late 2019, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce received a 5-Star Accreditation by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a designation held by only .5% of all chambers of commerce! This honor reminds us daily of the contribution and commitment we have made to the business community in Frisco and the entire North Texas region.

On behalf of our business community, we look forward to helping you make the most of your time in Frisco. It won’t take you long to figure out why Frisco is an attractive destination for those choosing to live, work, or play (or perhaps all three) in our city. There are so many ways to be a part of the continued transformation! We hope you will be a part of our story!

Our strategic plan sets the direction to “transform” the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and the Frisco business community into a more purposeful and productive place of business for all involved.

FINANCIAL LITERACY

In order to fulfill the Chamber’s mission statement “to protect and promote commerce,” the Frisco Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs division, along with the Board of Directors, takes a strong and proactive stance on governmental issues. Governmental Affairs at the Frisco Chamber of Commerce is at the forefront of issues not only involving Frisco but the entire North Texas Region. We are often working behind the scenes with legislators, elected officials, and community partners, to keep Frisco a strong, healthy, and vibrant community.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MISSION STATEMENT

EDUCATE AND INFORM VOTERS

The mission of the Governmental Affairs team is to inform, educate, engage, and advocate for the business community regarding relevant public policy.

ADVOCACY UPDATES CANDIDATE FORUMS

As a busy business owner or leader, we realize that it is hard to keep up with legislative affairs. As a Frisco Chamber of Commerce member, rest assured that we are looking out for the best interest of our business community at the local, state, and federal level.

In addition, as part of the North Texas Commission Regional Chamber Coalition, we’re not just looking out for Frisco as what happens in the North Texas region greatly affects our entire business community.

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce holds both in-person and live-streamed candidate forums each year for both the May General Election and the November election. While the Frisco Chamber of Commerce does not endorse candidates, it does bring together the community and the candidates so that individuals can become informed and decide how they want to vote.

A Message from the 2023 Chair of the Board

LI recently read that confidence breeds success and success breeds confidence. I’ve never been more confident in the direction of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and the successful impact we continue to have in the City of Frisco.

I was fortunate to plant my roots in Frisco in early 2009. What a privilege to have raised two children in such a special city during a decade-plus of transformation, innovation, and collaboration.

My servant leadership began in the Frisco Chamber as a member in early 2014. The opportunity presented to grow and prosper through various community groups motivated me to plug in and get involved. I’ve had the pleasure to serve as a chamber ambassador, as a member of the Frisco Young Professionals, on the Executive Council for Women Enhancing Business, as a graduate of Leadership Frisco XIX, and most recently on the Executive Committee for the Frisco Chamber Board of Directors. I can unequivocally attribute my personal and professional success to the years I’ve spent investing in our community alongside the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.

The Frisco Chamber team, community partners and Frisco city leaders ignite passion in our business community by working together seamlessly to help one another thrive. The new Frisco Chamber strategic plan will be a very tangible roadmap to aid in the success and betterment of our membership, our community, and our prospective areas of impact. 2023 will be our year to implement core strategies as we continue to test and expand on the blueprint we have created over the last year. I look forward to celebrating these efforts alongside the key players that will have a vital role in our success. Key players include our Board of Directors, our Chamber team, committee members, our chamber partners, and YOU.

I consider my appointment as Chair of the Board for 2023 as the opportunity of a lifetime. What an honor to widen the platform to act as the hands and heart of our community on behalf of the chamber. Please know my door is always open to serve you. I look forward to our year of implementation and transformation. The best is yet to come, and we are so much stronger together!

Looking Ahead
The Frisco Chamber team, community partners, and Frisco city leaders ignite passion in our business community by working together seamlessly to help one another thrive.
