Lions offer to fix Sharbot Lake gazebo, flower bed

he Sharbot Lake & District Lions Club is offering to spruce up the gazebo across from the Township office in Sharbot Lake. In a letter that was accepted for information at Tuesday’s regular Central Frontenac Council meeting, Lions secretary Bill Pyle said: “re: the gazebo across from the Township office seems to be in need of some TLC. “With Council’s permission, the Lions are willing to take a close look in the spring and see what is needed to spruce it up . . . the Lions would do any needed minor repairs and paint or stain the gazebo. We understand that there is a neglected flower bed beside it and we would see what we could do to restore it as well.” Pyle went on to say that if there ap-
pears to be any major structural difficulties, they would consult with Council before proceeding and invited members of Council to join them in inspecting the gazebo and flower bed. Dep. Mayor Tom Dewey volunteered to go and Mayor Frances Smith pointed out that since she is a Lion, she’d probably be there too. Council passed a resolution to express thanks and appreciation to the Lions but didn’t give its permission. Part of the resolution was for staff to contact the Lions to coordinate and confirm the scope of the repairs and bring a report back to Council. Coun. Bill MacDonald observed that “there were no fire calls anywhere in Central Frontenac in January and asked Fire Chief Jamie Riddell if he could offer SINCE 1970
an explanation. “I like to give credit where it’s due,” Riddell said. “It’s a credit to our volunteers who go out and do fire prevention and door-to-door smoke alarms.” There were however, eight medical calls, four vehicle accidents and one carbon monoxide call in January. Council passed a resolution to finalize an agreement with Rideau Valley Conservation Authority on behalf of Mississippi Rideau Septic System Office to complete the septic re-inspections contemplated under Bylaw 2020-04 for the 2020 Year. Council also received for information the annual report on Council remuneration in 2019 for information. Mayor Frances Smith received $24,450.15 plus $900 in per diem and

our confusion is apparent in your "Dear. Mr. Hillier" offering 20/02/2020, but I am not surprised at that especially since you were never nor will ever be a member of the OLA. In my stint in the OLA, comparing your false accusations, to reality, the exposure of a mindset bent on attempting to falsely accuse someone of hypocrisy rings hollow compared to my experiences as an OLA member. The first action I addressed was a problem that the OPP, specifically Sergeant Steven Flynn, briefed me on extensively. Matson Insurance Sergeant Flynn was an OPP MELT (Maximum Event Liason Team) leader who we Brokers would always go to first when an action was planned to inform him of the location

of any demonstration, road closure or action that enabled him to inform the police in that specific area of the time and place of the event to get their assistance if required or to have them knowledgeable on the whole event. I need not mention these events were legal. We never trespassed on private property, violated any injunctions, nor in any way violated statutes as current lawless busybodies are doing across "Canuckistan." A police check of our events ensured there was no problem and at times they even assisted in our efforts to redirect traffic in our LAWFUL events. Our events did not in any way interfere with the best interests of the nation nor cause layoffs, or monetary loss of the citizenry nor violate the law in any way, certainly not in my experience with the OLA as an active member. To equate the actions of the OLA with a lawless mob is to

You ignore the real elected band leaders who have made agreements with the pipeline officials and do not want troublemakers and unsolicited help who are threatening the massive benefits the pipeline negotiators have made with the Wet'suwet'en in sealed deals. The OLA in a different manner acted on requests of people suffering injustice, and did not stick their noses in where they were not wanted. I doubt you know the meaning of hypocrisy, and I bet the editor had to change your spelling of it to make it correct. You need to do more research before straining at gnats and in process, demonstrate your malice towards people who have been elected several times over by the majority in the riding. It is you who is the malcontent, the intolerant type who makes up stuff as he goes along for want of having any morsel of accuracy, he could use to discredit an elected representative speaking for most of the people.
