Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, What makes the Limay a favorite repeat destination for us? In 2007, we did an exploratory rafting caravan down the Middle Limay with Hank Ingram and Ben Hoffman of Frontiers as well as Jorge Trucco and all his Patagonia Outfitter guides. The goal? To test the Middle Limay River tail water as viable big fish fishers and to lay the infrastructure for the development of the Limay River Lodge. The trip was a grand adventure with numerous big fish to the nets among prolific hatches, which resulted in the lodge being an overnight success after a monumental development effort. This will be our third trip to the Limay River Lodge. The Limay River Lodge is a comfortable and rather luxurious structure built to complement and take advantage of the semi-arid high desert climate that is Patagonia. Like many famous rivers, the Limay is temperamental and weather can be fickle, but perhaps that is part of the allure. Like tail waters rivers worldwide water release can dictate hatches and fish activity. Some days the trout just hammer everything and some days they are spring creek fickle. However, we know what’s in the river and it’s the big strong rainbows and brown trout that keep us going back. This is tail water fishing with fairly consistent water flows and amazing water clarity, and whether you’re dredging the bottom with sinking heads and big streamers for the massive migratory browns or fishing dries on the surface for sipping rainbows, you can’t help but love the river and the lack of fishing pressure.

Sincerely,

Barry and Cathy Beck

What to Expect

• The Limay’s power has been harnessed for hydro-electric production creating Patagonia’s finest tailwater. A “freestone,” featuring gravel flats, braids, riffles and sheer cliff walls, the Limay is optimally targeted by a fleet of Hyde drift boats on 10 beats offered by Patagonia Outfitters. • Steps from the river bank, the lodge blends with the vast surrounding beauty of Patagonia. The courtyard surrounds a grand fire pit; a focal point and gathering place where fish stories and Malbec abound. In the kitchen, Yolvi and his versed staff feature Argentine and international fare.

About the Lodge

Limay River Lodge: Solely situated 43 miles downriver from the town of Piedra del Aguila on the southern bank of the middle Limay River awaits the Limay River Lodge. Targeting larger than average river rainbows, browns and fall migratory brown trout, the Limay meshes big water drift fishing with ample walk and wade opportunities. In a region of small farming and ranching towns, Limay River Lodge has the unique distinction of being the only destination fishing lodge on the banks of this tail water with exclusive put in access and 10 breathtaking beats.
