Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way Dear Traveler, When Gonzalo Martinez first looked at where Le Fario Lodge sits today, he asked his wife, Laura, about buying the property. She went to her father and said, “Papa, Gonzalo wants to spend all of our money on a piece of land.” Her father told her that Gonzalo is a smart man and if that is what he wants, she should want it too. She said, “Yes, Papa, but he wants to spend all of our money.” And so they did, and today Le Fario exists. Le Fario Lodge sits on the hillside overlooking the picturesque Laguna Larga, or Long Lagoon. The Lodge has just four bedrooms, a comfortable dining room, and an open gathering area. Floor to ceiling windows across the front of the Lodge showcase the spectacular lake view which can also be enjoyed from the hot tub! The Lodge is tastefully furnished with old and new pieces, and railings of weathered wood complement the new construction. Laura’s talent as an artist and Gonzalo’s as a carpenter blend well throughout the Lodge, and guests feel at home immediately. It’s truly Gonzalo and Laura who will make your trip one of the best. They are warm, interesting, and engaging. Gonzalo has been a favorite fishing guide of ours for many years. Although he and Laura both studied as chefs in Argentina and Spain and are very much involved in the menu planning, they have a private chef at the Lodge to free them to spend time with their guests. Literally on the edge of Los Alerces National Park, Le Fario has an amazing variety of fishing including small spring creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes. It’s exciting to twitch a Fat Albert across the surface of one of the lakes and watch a 20-inch brown come after the fly! Streams like the Dona Rosa Spring Creek or the Riva Davia will capture your attention and your heart, and the variety of brown, rainbow, and brook trout will keep anyone content. If you’re looking for a three or four day add-on stay to round out an existing itinerary or for a week-long destination, LeFario Lodge would be a wonderful choice. Los Alerces National park offers lots of outdoor activities for nonanglers as well. Sincerely,
Hank Ingram Jr.
What to Expect
• There are miles of water inside Los Alerces National Park—Argentina’s fourth largest national park—and the guides of Argentina Waters know all the best spots to fish since they have all grown up in the area. • Owner-hosts Gonzalo and Laura built La Fario Lodge themselves using locally-sourced hard woods and stone in its construction. Their talents in carpentry and art create a warm and inviting atmosphere inside the Lodge. Your attentive hosts and staff will immediately make you feel at home in the middle of Patagonia. • Argentina Waters guides have spent a lifetime in the area learning the waters and know all the secret spots. They know the landowners to get access to off-the-beatenpath places.
