Take Your Travel Experience Further: The Hosted Trip Difference
Unparalleled Service and Knowledge Every Step of the Way
Dear Traveler,
Argentina Waters (Le Fario Lodge) and Estancia Tecka is the perfect combination for us in the Esquel region of Argentina. Le Fario sits on the edge of Los Alerces National Park on a rise overlooking the picturesque Laguna Larga, or Long Lagoon. Los Alerces is one of four national parks in Argentina noted as world heritage sites and has recently celebrated its 80th anniversary. The lodge is intimate and has just four guest rooms, a comfortable dining room and a gathering area or living room. Hosts Laura and Gonzalo are both accomplished chefs, artists, warm and friendly. They welcome us into their summer residence and we will feel at home immediately.
Tucked into the Andes, Le Fario has the most incredible scenery and an amazing variety of fishing including small spring creeks, streams, rivers, and lakes. Twitch a Fat Albert and watch a 20-inch brown come for it or float the Rivadavia, one of the prettiest rivers anywhere. This lovely corner of the world will capture your attention and your heart, and the variety of browns, rainbows and brook trout will keep you busy.
We will fish at Le Fario for 4 days and then transfer to Estancia Tecka, just a couple hours down the road. The amazing thing about Tecka is simply the amount of private water available to guests enticing us to return twice a year in early and late season. The ranch is 435,000 acres – think about that for a second. One can fish all week long, never leave the ranch, and never fish the same water twice! There is 45 miles of the Corcovado River and more than 35 miles of Tecka spring creek on the property plus other smaller spring creeks and private trophy trout lakes. Match the hatch, throw a Chernobyl, strip a streamer, float or walk-wade, the opportunities are almost endless.
All this water and only 8-10 guests at each of two ranch lodges, Headquarters or Caridad. Visiting Tecka is like walking back in time. The slower pace is a nice change for guests as they take in the ranch life around them. Fishing days are long, lunches leisurely, and of course the Malbec is superb. The lodges are of a style and architecture not seen today and are immaculately maintained and cared for by owners Adela & Federico Ochoa with their son, Pedro.
Our group will fly into Buenos Aires, overnight, and continue to Esquel the next day. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions after reviewing the itinerary. We hope you can join us at Le Fario and Tecka, Patagonia jewels for sure.
Sincerely,
About Barry & Cathy Beck
What to Expect
• There are miles of water inside Los Alerces National Park—Argentina’s fourth largest national park—and the guides of Argentina Waters know all the best spots to fish since they have all grown up in the area.
• Fishing with floating lines and dry flies is the standard at Tecka. Anglers will encounter two major and unique rivers during their stay – and many tributaries and creeksdrifting the larger Corcovado River and walking-and-wade stalking the ranches namesake , the Tecka River.
About Esquel:
Argentina Waters: The diversity that the Esquel, National Park, and Rio Pico offer is one of the main reasons anglers decide to come and fish with Argentina Waters. There are spring creeks, private waters, small and big rivers, still waters, and lakes in a spectacular setting. Fishing with dry flies, wet flies, streamers, or nymphs to catch wild rainbows, browns, brookies, introduced in the country in the beginning of last century.
About Estancia Tecka:
This is one of the few places in the world where an angler can fish all day and never see another soul. This 435,000-acre ranch has such a vast holding of private water it would take years to fish it all.
From 2 lodges, fishermen access the Rio Corcovado, Rio Tecka, and a handful of spring creeks. All offer a perfect blend of walk-n-wade and drifting opportunities. Tecka’s reputation for excellent attention to detail, food and fishing has earned the Estancia a loyal clientele.
