Intimate and Exclusive Dove and Pigeon Shooting
Exceptional Shooting &Personal Service EL MONTE OFFERS A VARIETY OF AMAZING BIRD SHOOTING IN A SETTING LIKE THE ARGENTINA OF OLD. This is a story of friends, business partners, shooting clients and family all together in the heart of dove and pigeon country on the border between San Luis and Cordoba Provinces. There’s a balance of nature, farming, countryside and hunting here. This family-operated lodge emphasizes personal service from a dedicated staff and features a remarkable variety of outstanding shooting for dove and pigeon.
“Dear Maria, I would like to tell you that I had a wonderful visit with you at El Monte! The weather was perfect, and the doves and pigeons were so numerous as to be overwhelming. You and Juan were the perfect hosts and our group was treated not as clients but as ‘family.’ The food both at the lodge and in the field was first class and the service was great. Likewise the accommodations were clean and very comfortable. Not a single detail was overlooked in our accommodations, meals, shooting and travel. I am already looking forward to repeating a once-in-a-lifetime experience again next year.” Wallace Parsons, Texas
Unforgettable Experience Exceptional Shooting Each day of shooting at El Monte is a unique experience. Having exclusive access to over 20 ranches with thousands and thousands of acres and untold numbers of birds, the scene is different for shooters every time they set foot in the field. Woods and virgin low forest surround the sunflower, wheat, sorghum and corn fields while plenty of irrigation pivots and first feedlots dot the area; it’s perfect for nesting, roosting and it produces plenty of feed – a year-round bird and bird shooter’s paradise. The variety of shooting opportunities is the focus: decoyed pigeons, high-volume doves and pigeon flyways. Start the day with either a high-volume dove shoot or a decoyed pigeon morning. Then enjoy an inviting asado lunch with friends and perhaps a siesta under some shade trees before a full afternoon of pigeon shooting. After a full sporting day, sunset proposes bonfires, great food and wine, guitars and more old and new stories shared with family and friends.
Accommodations El Monte Lodge is located in Yacanto, a charming village between Cordoba and San Luis. Built in traditional English country style in 1900 by British railroad engineers as a summer house, it is now beautifully refurbished and offers a warm ambiance with views of old-growth gardens and stately trees. The bedrooms, cocktail lounge with fireplace, and dining room are all relaxed yet elegant – it’s a comfortable, welcoming home. El Monte is also fantastic for nonshooters. Maria and Juan Alberdi and their gracious staff will always be available to lend a hand. Enjoy horseback riding, visits to artisan shops, cooking classes, golf, seasonal trout fishing, touring sites of interest, and trekking. No recent records have been kept to determine just how many doves and pigeons are nesting here. Nobody paid attention anyway except for a few local farmers as they watched bird populations grow exponentially and become a nuisance. For incredible numbers of dove and quality flyways or decoyed pigeons all from a wonderful family-run lodge, El Monte is a premier South American operation that should be on every shooter’s list.

“This was my third dove hunting trip to Argentina and it was by far the best. Everything accounted for, the people concerned were all top-notch and were there for one purpose – to take care of us hunters. They did that in great fashion and with a lot of joy. I had a great time, shot a lot of birds and would return tomorrow, if possible. Keep up the good work and above all keep those fine people, they are tops.” Gary Deshazo, Texas
