Tahiti & the Society Islands A week is all it takes to escape to paradise. To explore the stunning garland of islands that are the centerpiece of every Gauguin itinerary. And to soak in the balmy weather, warmhearted culture, and easygoing lifestyle of Polynesia. Embark The Gauguin in Tahiti, an island on the wish list of every cruise enthusiast. Then, sail on to Huahine, known as the “Garden Island” for its lush rain forests and dramatic terrain. Next, spend a day as our guest on Motu Mahana, our very own South Seas paradise. On a white-sand beach beneath palm fronds ruffled by gentle breezes, you can snorkel, kayak, play volleyball, or simply relax, and enjoy a traditional feast with Polynesian entertainment. Then, it’s on to spectacular Bora Bora to see why author James A. Michener called it “the most beautiful island in the world” and perhaps bask on our private beach on a motu off the coast. And admire the jagged volcanic peaks, multi-hued lagoon, and palm-fringed beaches of Moorea, said to be the inspiration for Bali Hai. A week is all it takes. But the memories last a lifetime.

Society Islands & Tuamotus It’s hard to decide which is more beautiful — the world beneath the waves, where gracefully swaying coral hosts a fascinating array of marine life … or the spectacular islands rising majestically above the turquoise waters. On this itinerary, you’ll experience the best of both worlds, on your choice of 10- and 11-night voyages. In the Society Islands, you’ll visit islands renowned for their breathtaking scenery — legendary Tahiti … the lush island of Huahine, with its dramatic terrain … Bora Bora, where you’ll have unlimited access to our own private beach … and Moorea, whose craggy peaks, swaying palms, and pristine waters are the very picture of an island paradise. Plus, on our 10-night itinerary, you’ll enjoy a full-day idyll on Motu Mahana, our private island retreat that is a highlight for our guests — or, new for 2016, opt for our 11-night itinerary and enjoy a second full day here. Whichever itinerary you choose, you’ll also explore the Tuamotus, where the extraordinary visibility of the lagoons has drawn divers from all over the world. Join us to discover these very different aspects of French Polynesia — and let them cast their spell on you.

Cook Islands & Society Islands Covering an area of ocean roughly the size of Western Europe, the Cook Islands are the quintessential tropical getaway and authentic repository of the culture of the South Seas. On this unique itinerary, you’ll call on two of the Cook Islands that also serve as a fascinating study in contrasts. Bounded by one of the world’s most spectacular lagoons, stunning Aitutaki features a terrain so flat, you can see the ocean from nearly any point on the island. Rugged Rarotonga, on the other hand, features jagged peaks, fertile slopes of red earth, and deep green valleys — as well as white-sand beaches shaded by coconut palms. Your voyage to the Cook Islands is framed by port calls in the Society Islands. First call on Huahine, an unspoiled paradise aptly nicknamed “The Garden Island.” And on your return from the Cook Islands, sail to the soul of the Society Islands, with a full day to revel in the luxury of The Gauguin en route. When Bora Bora comes into view, you’ll recognize it from Mount Otemanu rising from the sea. This half-atoll, half-mountain is surrounded by a spectacular lagoon and a series of smaller islands — including an island with our own private beach. You’ll also spend a day on our private island off the coast of Taha’a and two days on spectacular Moorea, with its dramatic bays and lush tropical landscape, before disembarking in Tahiti for your flight home.

Marquesas, Tuamotus & Society Islands Islands of mystery, the remote Marquesas are a part of French Polynesia — yet a world apart. Their very isolation has infused these islands with a unique culture and language, while their unspoiled landscapes touch the spirit of wildness within. In this untamed archipelago, you’ll call on Fatu Hiva, where locals create beautiful tapa — beaten cloth bark decorated in ink with traditional Polynesian artwork. Perhaps you’ll pay homage to our ship’s namesake at his final resting place in Hiva Oa. In the quaint village of Hapatoni, on the craggy island of Tahuata, discover a wealth of traditional crafts and a seafront road paved with ancient stones. And call on Nuku Hiva, where Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick, once was held captive. A call on Fakarava in the Tuamotus sets the stage for your visit to the Marquesas. Here, a remote location and pristine environment offer sanctuary for many rare birds, plants, and crustaceans. You can also find pink-sand beaches, a black-pearl farm, and a church made of coral. And your two-week idyll draws to a close in the Society Islands, where you’ll enjoy stops at Huahine, “The Garden Island” … Bora Bora, described by author James A. Michener as “the most beautiful island in the world” … our own island paradise, Motu Mahana … and Moorea, said to be the inspiration for Bali Hai. It’s an itinerary designed to refresh your soul and reward your own wild spirit with memories to last a lifetime.
