Dude Ranch Full Week Schedule The following mock schedule is based on our "typical" Dude Ranch experience. The ranch reserves the right to modify various aspects as necessary to ensure the best possible trip for everyone.

Sunday 4pm

Guest arrival and check in

6:30pm

Cowboy Mix n’ Mingle- Enjoy fresh appetizers and cocktails while you meet and get to know your wranglers for the week.

7pm

Welcome Dinner- For your first night on the ranch, enjoy a tasty meal featuring HLR’s Classic Meatloaf.

Monday 8am

Aunt Linda’s Breakfast

9am-12pm

Arena Orientation- Wranglers will demonstrate all the necessary skills guests will need for their weeklong adventure with their trusty steeds. Guests will be assigned a horse for the week and begin building a relationship with them while wranglers assess everyone’s comfort and skill levels.

12:30pm

Lunch

1:30-3:30pm

Orientation Trail Ride- Riders will hit the trails and try their hand at climbing hills, steering through trees and sagebrush, and crossing small creeks on our orientation loop around ranch headquarters.

4pm

Leisure Time- Take this time to unwind and freshen up after a long day of horseback fun. Hit the pool, enjoy a cooking class, or schedule a relaxing massage.

6:30pm

Cowboy Mix n’ Mingle- Enjoy fresh appetizers, cocktails, and games around the fire pit.

7pm

Dinner- HLR Pig Roast

8pm

Cowboy Poetry- As the sun begins to set enjoy s’mores around the campfire listening to authentic cowboy poetry and learn about the history of the ranch.

Tuesday 8am

Aunt Linda’s Breakfast

9am-12pm

Western Obstacle Course- Build upon the lessons of the previous day as you and your horse work together to advance through our obstacle course. Use these newly acquired skills out on the trail!

Lunch

1:30pm-4pm

Cross Mountain Trail Ride- Take a longer trail ride and wind your way up out of the sagebrush and into higher terrain to marvel at the beautiful views of the Dry Fork Valley.

4pm

Leisure Time- Take this time to unwind and freshen up after a long day of horseback fun. Hit the pool, enjoy a cooking class, or schedule a relaxing massage.

5:30pm

Rodeo Night- Depart for an evening at our local rodeo! Enjoy watching local cowboys compete with a backdrop of the sun setting along Colorado National Monument.

Wednesday Option A- White Water Rafting 8am

9:30am-4pm

Rafting- Guests take a drive to Glenwood Springs to embark on a family friendly half-day raft trip through the beautiful Glenwood Canyon. Cruise a 9-mile stretch of the Colorado River through class 3 rapids.

Option B- Little Book Cliff’s Wild Horse Tour

Aunt Linda’s Breakfast

10am-3pm

Wild Horse Tour- Guests take a driving tour through the Bookcliff’s Wild Horse Area located just west of the ranch. Enjoy beautiful scenic lookouts along the drive and break for a picnic lunch among the wild horses.

4pm

Leisure time- Take this time to unwind and freshen up after a long day of horseback fun. Hit the pool, enjoy a cooking class, or schedule a relaxing massage.

6pm

Evening wagon ride- Guests are picked up at their cabins by horse drawn wagon and brought to the dining hall for cocktails and dinner.

7pm

Farmer’s Dinner- Savor fresh greens from our garden and locally grown produce from the Grand Valley.

Thursday 8am

Aunt Linda’s Breakfast

Option A- Fly fishing/Sporting clays

9am-12pm

Fly Fishing- Guides will begin with casting lessons and teach what you need to know to fly fish our 22 catch and release ponds. Try your rod and reel on our 5 species of trout and score a Grand Slam!

12:30pm

Lunch

1-3pm

5-Stand Sporting Clays- Let our guides teach you the skills of shot gunning. You will shoot 50 rounds at clay targets that are th rown from various angles.

Option B- Picnic ride 9am-3pm

Picnic Ride- Saddle up for an all day ride to the scenic Picture Rock! Enjoy panoramic views and abundant wildlife. With the vast landscape and ever changing views this ride will take your breath away. A picnic lunch will be provided at a picturesque lunch spot along the trail.

Leisure time- Take this time to unwind and freshen up after a long day of horseback fun. Hit the pool, enjoy a cooking class, or schedule a relaxing massage.

6:30pm

Teepee Camp Out- Kids are picked up by wranglers and taken for an evening of cooking over the fire pit, cowboy games, and camping out at the teepees.

7pm

Date Night- Adults enjoy an evening of an 8-12 course tasting menu with wine pairings.

Friday 8am

Aunt Linda’s Breakfast

9am-12pm

HLR Cattle Drive- Start your morning with an authentic cattle drive moving our cows to new pasture. Your chance to unleash your inner cowboy!

12:30pm

Picnic Lunch

1:30pm-4pm

Cattle Work- Head back to the arena to try your hand at cattle sorting, team penning, or roping.

6:30pm

Cowboy Mix n’ Mingle- Enjoy fresh appetizers, cocktails, and games around the fire pit.

7pm

Cowboy BBQ and Dancing- Family style dining and live county western music and dancing wrap up an incredible week of events. Enjoy country western swing and line dancing lessons and dancing to our favorite local band!
