1.1 Introduction Welcome to the brand guideline manual for the PGC brand. The PGC brand guideline has been developed to assist users in ensuring all PGC branded collateral is in accordance with the defined, approved brand identity. The guidelines set out in this manual should be strictly adhered to in order to ensure a consistently distinctive image for the PGC brand.

1.2 Brand platform

1.3 Logo construction A logo forms the centre point of a brand and is highly instrumental in how a brand is recognised and perceived by its audience. Everything about our brand – from corporate stationery to promotional material – emanates from the logo. The PGC logo comprises two main design elements, i.e. the icon and logotype. The icon and the logotype should always appear together. It is vital to be consistent with this application and to never display the logo in configurations other than those shown in this manual. Please note that our logotype is a hand-crafted font, thus one should never attempt to recreate it or make use of a substitute font that may appear similar.

1.4 primary logo There are two versions of the primary PGC logo that may be used, namely: 1. Black: This version of the primary logo should always be used on a white background. 2. White (reversed): This version should be used on black.

1.5 Unit of measurement The spacing guide has been developed in a proportion system, with height of the wedge icon referring to the logo icon. The proportionate heights and/or widths are given in relation to the wedge icon.

Area of isolation

An identified area of isolation, comprising of 1 X wedge icon, must surround the PGC logo at all times. This isolation space allows the brand logo to be clearly visible and gives it maximum impact. Isolation space must never be encroached upon by photographs, text or illustrations. This is, however, a minimum indication - the space may be larger, but never smaller.

In order for the PGC logo to be clearly seen, a minimum size has been created for its usage. The logo may not be applied smaller than 15 mm in width.

1.6 LOGO COMPONENTS The logo, which includes the graphic element of Africa, has two variations. No other variations may be used.

An identified area of isolation, comprising of 0.5 X ‘P’ and 1 X ‘P’, must surround the PGC logotype and icon at all times. The correct colour application is as much part of the PGC brand as the logo itself. The correct application of our logo onto our brand colours are essential to ensure a consistent image for the brand. The RGB colour values are only for electronic use, thus colours may appear differently on screen due to monitor calibration.

1.10 PHOTOGRAPHY The photographic images used in the PGC communication is an important part of how the brand are positioned in people’s minds. As photography is a visual representation of the brand, the photographic images should encapsulate the sophistication, dynamism, intelligence and distinctiveness of the PGC brand.

1.11 THE GRID The height of any layout may be divided into eighths in order to obtain a unit of measurement for the height of the PGC logo and in certain instances the placement of type and/or images. Each of these 1/8ths can be further subdivided by multiples of eight if needed.
