Workerslife is not just another insurance company. We don’t simply offer a menu of policies, we offer expert, caring advisors who work towards making our clients’ insurance experience easy and convenient. Workerslife partners with our clients to safeguard the lifestyles that they have worked so hard for, ensuring complete peace of mind for them and their loved ones.

Workerslife is professional yet approachable, qualities that are reflected in our tone of voice throughout our communication.

1.2 What We Do Workerslife is an insurance and assurance company for ambitious South Africans who want to provide a secure future for the people who depend upon them. We understand that our clients work to achieve professional success in order to provide a secure and prosperous future for themselves and their families – a goal that Workerslife supports and enables through a comprehensive range of life, funeral and legal insurance products.

1.3 Where We Headed Workerslife is built on a strong heritage of providing protection and, moving into the future, that protection will extend to encompass safeguarding all aspects of our clients’ financial well being, covering everything from insurance and healthcare to property and assurance. We understand that our clients’ main objective is to provide a secure future for their loved ones and we are developing a range of offerings that will help them do just that.

We are warm and friendly, but not informal; confident, not brash; knowledgeable without being know-it-all. When we talk to our clients we speak from a place of experience, without being patronising. We are credible and reputable but never staid and stolid. We take our clients and their futures seriously – life, funeral and legal insurance are certainly no laughing matters – and our straightforward tone reflects that. We are not here to baffle people with fine print, legalese and complicated jargon; our aim is to inform people about how best to safeguard their and their loved-ones’ financial futures.

The Workerslife brand identity reflects the principles, qualities and values of the company and must be consistently conveyed through all communication, both internally and externally. The Workerslife brand identity is: - dynamic - innovative - world-class - confident - approachable - experienced - charismatic - knowledgeable - easy to understand - vibrant - accessible

1.5 Brand Manifesto The concept of ‘protection’ is at the heart of what the Workerslife brand stands for. Emerging from a turbulent past where the community’s protectors themselves needed protection from an unjust system, Workerslife is a company that is now committed to protecting the lifestyles of our clients and their dependents for secure future. People have moved beyond protecting against something negative and are now protecting for something positive.

Above all, however, the Workerslife brand is colourful. From the spectrum in the logo and brand tag to the imagery that is used to portray the dynamic lifestyle of our clients, colour is key. Many brands aim to own a specific colour for their branding purposes – think MTN, Vodaphone, even Coca-Cola. Workerslife owns a range of colours and all that they represent. A range of colours represents inclusiveness, metamorphosis, diversity, a holistic approach, nourishment and balance.

1.6 Importance of Indentity Brand identity is how an organisation chooses to present itself to the world. A consistent brand identity

helps consumers create associations with a company and differentiate that company from others.

Colourfulness is intrinsic to the Workerslife brand and is expressed in everything from our products and branches to our advertising imagery and staff members.

8.1 Minimum Sizes

In order for the Workerslife logo to be clearly seen a minimum size has been created for its usage. The logo may not be applied smaller than 10mm in height when using the full colour logo. The logo can be used smaller in black & white without a tag line at a minimum of 5mm.

There are two versions of the primary Workerslife logo that may be used, namely: 1. White background: This version of the primary logo should always be used on a white or on a light coloured background, i.e. grey. 2. Black background: This version should be used on dark coloured backgrounds, i.e. black.

Secondary logos

2.5 Exclusion Zone

Secondary logos: These logo variants, representing the different products on offer, use the corporate colours of Workerslife as their background. The icon and logo type should only be used in white when using these colours as a background.

An identified area of isolation, comprising of 1 x ‘W’, must surround the Workerslife logo at all times. This isolation space allows the brand logo to be clearly visible and gives it maximum impact. Isolation space must never be encroached upon by text or illustrations. This is, however, a minimum indication - the space may be larger but never smaller.

In order for the Workerslife logo to be clearly seen a minimum size has been created for its usage. The logo may not be applied smaller than 15mm in height when using the full colour logo. The logo can be used smaller in black & white without a tag line at a minimum of 10mm.

1. Do not use the logo at an angle, only at a 90° angle on its side 2. Do not distort the logo in any way 3. Do not apply a drop shadow to the logo 4. Do not display the logo with a keyline 5. Do not use the incorrect icon application 6. Do not separate the logotype and icon and use them separately; if they are separated they work together as per our guidelines 7. Do not display the logo using a secondary colour or tint thereof 8. Do not alter the logo in any way 9. Do not display the icon as a ‘flat’ colour, i.e. without the gradient 10. Do not use the full colour logo on a corporate colour background 11. Do not use the black logotype on a dark grey background 12. Do not use the logo on complicated photographic backgrounds unless the background has been darkened so that the logo is 100% clear and visible.

To ensure a consistent graphic personality, adherence to the following colour palette guidelines is required.

1. Do not use the icon at an angle, only at 90° angle on its side 2. Do not distort the icon in any way 3. Do not crop the icon useless indicated in the CI guideline 4. 2.12 Divisonal Photography The photographic images that represent the products of Workerslife include families, couples and mature couples that represent the South African demographic.

2.13 Photography Style The photographic images used in Workerslife communication are an important part of how the brand is positioned in people’s minds. As photography is a visual representation of the brand, the photographic images should encapsulate warmth, confidence, caring, and joyfulness. They should be friendly, but not informal. Wherever possible the photography should contain hues and/or shades of the corporate colour palette.
