The 2004 Florida Southern Moccasins set a school record with 55 wins, and six of those players (five freshmen and one sophomore) were part of the 2006 team that posted an identical 55-8 record. One year later, Ashley Alpizar, Megan Brown, Jackie Leppla, Sarah Kohlbrenner, and Jesse Shepherd helped the Mocs to another 50-win season and during their careers were part of exactly 200 Florida Southern victories. The 2004 team pictured above finished as the Division II national runner-up and along the way set another team record with 31 consecutive wins.

Jackie Folmar was a 3-time All-SSC outfielder from 1986-89. As a junior in 1988 she set a school record that still stands today with 13 outfield assists, and she’s the only outfielder who has ever reached double figures in a single season. Folmar was also an Academic All-American as senior. 1990
Nycki Sandstede was First Team All-SSC and an AllAmerican in each of her two years as a Moccasin, compiling a 43-8 record with 26 shutouts and a 0.85 ERA. She was also the Mocs’ leading hitter as a senior with a .406 batting average, two home runs and 29 RBI. Sandstede remains the only pitcher in team history to win 20 games and post a .400 batting average in the same season.
3-time All-SSC third baseman Tracey Ringstaff led the nation with 50 RBI as a sophomore in 1987, but the most impressive statistic of her career though may have been her strikeout ratio. In 491 career at-bats, Ringstaff struck out just five times, including none as a senior in 135 at-bats. 1988 1989

Cortelyou was a 3-time First Team All-SSC selection who won 67 games during those three seasons and was the winning pitcher in the 1993 national championship game.
Megan Brown won just about every award a player could win in her career, and her 124 victories are not only a school record, but a conference record as well. In 2007 alone, she was a First Team All-American, a First Team Academic All-American, the SSC Pitcher-of-the-Year, and the overall SSC Female Athleteof-the-Year. That same season, Brown and teammate Sarah Kohlbrenner were the only active players selected to the SSC Silver Anniversary Softball Team. Brown went on to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and has played professional softball both in the United States and Italy.

In 1997, Lisa McNeley became the first and so-far only player in league history to be voted both the SSC Player and Pitcher-ofthe-Year in the same season. She was 29-7 with a 1.00 ERA and 233 strikeouts in 209 innings, and also led Florida Southern in batting average (.393), doubles (13), triples (4), home runs (3), and RBI (40) as the Mocs won the SSC and South Region titles.
Chris Bellotto is the only head coach Florida Southern has ever had and has won 15 SSC Coach-of-theYear awards in her 35year career. Entering the 2017 season, no other SSC softball coach has won that award more than four times, and the only coach in any sport who has more is current University of Tampa volleyball coach Chris Catanach with 18.

Jordan Alexander was the team MVP and scholar-athlete award winner in 2016. Throughout her 4-year career she started games at every position except pitcher, and is the only player in team history to accomplish that.
Karlyn Scott was the Scholar-Athlete-of-theYear for softball in her final three seasons for the Mocs. As a senior in 2012, she was also a First Team Academic All-American when she hit .358 with one home run, 20 RBI, and was 29-for-29 on stolen base attempts. Scott was 43-for-43 on the bases in her career, the best perfect percentage in team history.
Jody Kay won the team MVP award during all three seasons of slowpitch competition. She hit .447 during those years, drove in over 100 runs, and also had a 79-34 record with 33 shutouts. 13

On April 1, 2001, Keltie Christian and April Elston were part of the longest game in team history, and one of the longest ever played in Division II softball. Christian pitched all 21 innings of a 2‐1 loss to Barry and set a school record with 23 strikeouts, which also tied the national record. That helped Elston, who caught all 21 innings, set two team records with 24 putouts and 27 total chances. That was just game one Keltie Christian of the doubleheader. Game two went 14 innings, with Elston behind the plate for all of it once again. Christian entered the game with one out in the top of the 10th inning and finished it off for Carrie Newton, striking out nine more Buccaneers in 4.2 innings. She eventually earned a 1‐0 victory when the Mocs strung together three straight singles in the bottom of the 14th, and pinch‐runner Tracey Edwards scored on a wild pitch. April Elston The 21‐inning game is tied for the longest in Division II history, with LeMoyne (NY) and SUNY‐Cortland playing a 21‐inning game in 1992. The 35 innings stands alone though as the longest doubleheader. Later in 2001, the Moccasins would be involved in another long doubleheader at Tampa where they played the second longest game in team history, but they weren’t as fortunate in that one. The Spartans won both games, 1‐0 and 2‐1 in 17 innings. INDIVIDUAL PITCHING INNINGS PITCHED: 21.0‐ Keltie Christian vs. Barry, 4/01/01 (21 inn.) Brittany Martin is the last Moccasin to hit two home runs in a game, doing that twice in 2011, with those two games coming in the span of eight days. That helped Martin finish tied for the top spot in the team’s record book for career home runs. The junior college transfer hit 16 in her two seasons at Florida Southern, tying her with Wanda Graham and Angela Williams.
Elli Howell (left), Lindsey Powell (center) and Christine Clark (right) are all on the list of players who have hit two home runs in a game. Howell is the only one to do that in an NCAA Tournament game, hitting a pair of 3-run homers to help the Mocs beat Tampa 8-6 in 2009. Powell and Clark each hit two in back-to-back innings in 2010, the only time the Mocs have had two players do that in the same game.

Michelle Tatlock was a 4-year starter for the Moccasins from 2005-08 with most of that time spent in the outfield. She had 190 hits and 109 RBI in her 214 career games. Her 13 career RBI in the postseason are the third most in team history, one of which gave the Mocs a 1-0, 11-inning win over Emporia State at the 2006 NCAA Division II National Tournament. She’s been an assistant coach with the Mocs since 2011. Angela Williams is one of only five Moccasins who have been 4-time First Team All-SSC selections. Williams had a career batting average of .340, tied the school record for home runs in a career with 16, had 131 RBI, walked 90 times and stole 63 bases in 230 games. She’s one of four players in team history who have started every possible game in a 4-year career, along with teammate Natalie Lang, Shelly Davis, and Kellie Robinson. 21

Moccasins Who Led Division II
Did You Know? Keltie Christian is the last Florida Southern player to lead the nation in any statistical category, topping all D‐II pitchers in strikeouts with 357 as a senior in 2001. That came after she finished second in 2000.
Traci Wood is the last Moccasin to lead the nation in an offensive category, doing it in 1996 when she finished number one in stolen bases for the second year in a row. Wood is also the last Moccasin to lead the nation in two categories in one season, swiping 71 bases in 1995, and also scoring a Division II leading 78 runs that year.
Christine Clark was close to the top in two categories in 2012, finishing second in ERA (0.89) to Tampa’s Kayla Cox, and third in fewest walks per seven innings (0.44). She was also in the top‐10 in shutouts, wins and saves.
