Florida Southern fielded its first intercollegiate women’s soccer team in 1998 after the school had sponsored a club program for several years leading up to varsity status. The Moccasins played their first game on September 1 of that year when they hosted another first-year team, the University of Tampa. On a rainy night at Barnett Field, the Moccasins fell to the Spartans, 5-2, with Jennifer Murphy scoring their first goal and assisting the second one by Noreen Drenthe. Florida Southern earned its first win on September 17, 1998, when it defeated Embry-Riddle at home, 4-1. Valerie Krajcsik scored the first game-winning goal for the Moccasins. Kerri Nickerson scored twice in that game, and Melissa Peeples and Ashlie Aagaard combined for 10 saves in goal, with each playing a half.

ALL-AMERICANS AND ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICANS
AMY CLAMPITT‐HOLSENBECK 2007 Daktronics First Team All‐American
In 2007, Amy Clampitt‐Holsenbeck became Florida Southern’s first women’s soccer All‐American as the senior put together perhaps the best all‐around season in school history. Not only was she voted the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player‐of‐the‐Year, she was also the team’s leading goal scorer with nine goals and 20 points. Those were the highest totals for any defender that season in Division II and remain school records for that position. She helped the Mocs post a 1.18 goals against average with seven shutouts, and allow just 9.6 shots per game. All of that was achieved in her first season playing as a defender. Two years earlier, Clampitt‐Holsenbeck had been an all‐conference midfielder.
ERIN HOPKINS 2008 NSCAA Third Team All‐American 2008 Second Team Academic All‐American
In helping lead Florida Southern to its first ever NCAA Tournament in 2008, senior center midfielder Erin Hopkins set the Moccasins’ single season scoring record with 36 points. She scored 12 goals with 12 assists, becoming the first player in team history to reach double figures in both those categories in the same season, and was the first Moccasin to be named First Team All‐SSC in back‐to‐back seasons. Hopkins was also an outstanding student at Florida Southern, and her list of 2008 awards included Second Team Academic All‐American. She was the first player in the program’s history to achieve that honor.
JACKIE METZ 2014 Third Team Academic All‐American
Jackie Metz was a 4‐year starting midfielder for the Moccasins from 2011‐14, and after twice earning Academic All‐Region honors, she was selected as an Academic All‐American in her senior year. Known more for her work on the defensive end of the field, Metz totaled eight assists in her career while helping the Moccasins record 17 shutouts during those four years. With Metz playing a key role, the Moccasins also posted two of their four lowest goals against averages in team history. When she graduated in 2014, she did so with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
JULIANA GUIDA 2017 Second Team Academic All‐American
Juliana Guida started 54 of a possible 57 games at center back for Florida Southern from 2014‐17, was the Moccasins’ team MVP as a junior, and was Second Team All‐Sunshine State Conference as a senior. During that 2017 season, Guida helped the Mocs post a 1.13 goals against average that was the fourth lowest in the program’s 20‐year history. She was also instrumental in a defense that saw the number of shots allowed drop by more than 20 percent as the Moccasins had their best season in seven years and earned them a spot in the SSC Tournament for the first time since 2013. 2

Did You Know?
Florida Southern has been involved in two games in which both teams scored four or more goals. The first was in 1999 at Barnett Field when the Moccasins defeated Rollins 5-4. The teams combined for five goals in the final 17 minutes. The second time was in 2017 in the regular season finale at Lynn, which ended in a 5-5 tie after rain left the field unplayable following the first overtime period.
Renee Heacock started 40 games in her 2-year Moccasin career, and was Second Team AllSouth Region as a senior in 2009. One year earlier, she was part of a back line that did not allow a single shot in a 6-0 win over Eckerd.

Ashlie Haas started more games (77) than any other defender in team history, and ranks third on the all-time list overall. During her career from 2007-10, she helped the Moccasins record 26 shutouts, while winning 48 games and qualifying for three NCAA Tournaments. She was AllSSC in 2008, and a 2-time Academic AllRegion selection.

Did You Know?
In 2011, senior defender Lexie Bottomley became only the second field player in team history to play every minute of every game. Nicole Brant, another defender, did so as both a junior (2003) and senior (2004), a stretch of 34 straight games.

Sarah Furr was Florida Southern’s goalkeeper for only one season, but what a season it was. As a senior in 2007, she played every minute and set school records for shutouts and consecutive scoreless minutes, while posting a 1.18 goals against average that ranks sixth in school history. Despite playing only one year between the posts, her seven shutouts still rank second on the team’s career list.

2018 Florida Southern Women’s Soccer History and Record Book
FLORIDA SOUTHERN MISCELLANEOUS RECORDS Fastest Goal at the Start of a Match In a 5‐0 win over Flagler in 2009, Princess Haley became the first, and so far, only player in team history to score a goal in the first minute of the game. It came just 40 seconds after the opening kickoff, and though it had never happened before then, it nearly happened a second time in the same game. Just 28 seconds later, Renee Heacock scored again for the Moccasins for what was then the second fastest goal in team history. They added a third goal when Ashlie Haas gave them a 3‐0 lead only 3:24 into the game. So all in one game, the Mocs set team records for fastest goal, fastest two goals, and fastest three goals. 0:40 Princess Haley, vs. Flagler 9/30/09 1:01 Anna Griessler, at Lynn 10/28/17 1:08 Renee Heacock, vs. Flagler 9/30/09 1:28 Erin Hopkins, vs. Thomas (GA) 9/7/07 1:40 Aubrey Riggins, vs. Flagler 9/17/04 Defensively, Florida Southern has allowed a first‐minute goal on three occasions, most recently in 2013, when Rollins scored 43 seconds into the game before holding on for a 3‐2 win over the Mocs. The first time it happened was even faster, as Tampa’s Stephanie Keating needed just 14 seconds to score in 1999.
Shortest Time Between Goals Considering the way the 2009 game against Flagler started, it should come as no surprise that Princess Haley and Renee Heacock also set a school record for the shortest time between two goals. By scoring just 28 seconds apart, they broke the previous record of 34 seconds set in 1998 by Noreen Drenthe and Valerie Krajcsik in a 4‐1 win over Embry‐ Riddle. There have been three other occasions in which the Moccasins have scored two goals in less than a minute, with Haley and Alex Hoover the last to do it on October 17, 2009 at Saint Leo.
Fastest Hat Trick There have been 11 hat tricks recorded in team history, though no one has scored more than three goals yet. So far no Moccasin has managed to register their hat trick before halftime either, with Liz Gorman coming the closest. As a senior in 2008, Gorman scored her third goal of the match at the 51:44 mark to help the Moccasins pull out a 4‐2 victory at Lynn that day. That was 47 seconds faster than the time it took Mindy Dymon to score three goals in a 5‐0 win over South Carolina‐Aiken in 2004. 51:44 Liz Gorman at Lynn 10/30/08 W, 4-2 52:31 Mindy Dymon vs. USC-Aiken 9/11/04 W, 5-0 56:07 Princess Haley vs. Thomas (GA) 9/7/07 W, 6-0 58:00 Erin Hopkins at Thomas (GA) 9/12/08 W, 6-0 70:00 Halie Clark at Webber 11/2/99 W, 5-1 In terms of the least time needed between their three goals, that record belongs to Alex Hoover, who did all of her damage in the second half of a 5‐1 victory at Flagler on September 30, 2008. After scoring her first goal in the 76th minute, Hoover scored again in the 85th and the 87th. The total time between goals was 17:12.
Shortest Time Between Goals by the Same Player Though she would later go on to be the 2007 SSC Defensive Player‐of‐ the‐Year, Amy Clampitt‐Holsenbeck first put her name in the Florida Southern record book for something she did on offense. One year earlier, in a 7‐1 win over Warner Southern, she became the first player to score two goals in less than a minute. Those goals came 41 seconds apart and sent her on the way to the first of her two career hat tricks. Since then, one other player has managed to score two goals in less than a minute’s time. Liz Gorman joined her in that category by scoring 55 seconds apart in a 4‐2 victory at Lynn in 2008. She too went on to score a third goal later in the game. 0:41 Amy C.-Holsenbeck, vs. Warner 10/4/06 0:55 Liz Gorman, at Lynn 10/28/08 1:05 Taylor Greene, at Barry 10/24/04 2:05 Hanna Jansson, vs. Thomas (GA) 9/11/09 2:15 Princess Haley, vs. Thomas (GA) 9/7/07 12
Other Notable Hat Trick Numbers Amy Clampitt‐Holsenbeck is the only Moccasin with two hat tricks in her career (2006 vs. Warner; 2007 at Montevallo), and is the only defender to do it (at Montevallo). Kara Moore is the only Moccasin with a hat trick who also accounted for all of their scoring, doing that in a 3‐1 win at Eckerd in 2012. Four Moccasins have had a natural hat trick, scoring three consecutive goals (Mindy Dymon vs. USC‐Aiken Clark in 2004; Amanda Wetherbee at Florida Tech in 2004; Kara Moore at Eckerd in 2012; and Anna Griessler at Eckerd in 2015). In 2015, Griessler become the fourth freshman with a hat trick, joining Halie Clark at Webber in 1999, Princess Haley vs. Thomas in 2007, and Alex Hoover at Flagler in 2008. Haley accomplished that in her fifth career game. Alex Hoover (at Flagler) and Liz Gorman (at Lynn) both needed only three shots to score three goals. Hoover’s hat trick came as a reserve, as did the first of Clampitt‐Holsenbeck’s, making them the only Moccasins to score three goals off the bench.

For seven straight years, either Martina Tangen Billing (left) or Erin Moseley (above) were between the posts for Florida Southern, and they rank first or second in nearly every career goalkeeping category in the team record book. Tangen Billing started all 75 games from 2008-11, and Moseley started every game from 2012-14. They also rank among the top-10 all-time in SSC history for career saves, a list topped by another Moccasin goalkeeper, Lacy Emmerling.

Ben Strawbridge was Florida Southern’s head coach from 2006-11, and during those six seasons compiled a 61-42-9 career record while guiding them to three straight NCAA Tournament bids from 2008-10. He was the SSC Coach-ofthe-Year in 2007, a year in which the Moccasins nearly made another trip to the NCAA playoffs, but were knocked out by an automatic qualifier ranked below them in the final South Region rankings.

Brittany Jones was the third coach in team history, leading the Moccasins from 2012-15. She led them to their only win or tie over a team ranked #1 in the nation, when they drew with top-ranked West Florida in 2013. One year later the Mocs returned to the national poll themselves for the first time in four years.

While Florida Southern alum Jackie Bachteler has not been a coach at Florida Southern, the former 2-time MVP for the Moccasins has had a successful coaching career overseas. After graduating in the spring of 2011, Bachteler played professionally in Sweden before entering the coaching profession in that country. Bachteler was a 4-year starting midfielder for the Moccasins from 2007-10, and in addition to her two MVP awards, she was also a 2-time all-conference selection. During her time at Florida Southern, the Moccasins went 48-24-8, received three NCAA Tournament bids and reached the SSC Championship Game twice. 26

THE SUNSHINE STATE CONFERENCE Founded in 1975, the Sunshine State Conference has risen from a single sport organization to the Division II “Conference of Champions”. Since its inception, the conference has grown steadily in sports played, membership and national prominence. Member schools have won a total of 104 NCAA national titles, with those championships coming in baseball, men’s Commissioner basketball, men’s and women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men’s Ed Pasque and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball. The SSC has picked up 17 national titles in the last four years alone, including Florida Southern in men’s basketball (2015), women’s lacrosse (2016), and men’s golf (2017). The SSC sponsors championships in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball. After holding steady with nine members since 1997-98, the Sunshine State Conference has recently grown with the addition of Embry-Riddle University and Palm Beach Atlantic University, which became full members in 2017-18.

The lowest seed to ever win a game was #7 Nova in 2004, which beat Lynn 2‐1 in the first round (since 2006, only the top six teams qualify) Tampa has twice won the title by winning three games without allowing a goal (2003 and 2010) Brenna McKee was the first player to record a hat trick in the SSC Tournament when she scored three goals in Rollins’ 6‐0 win over Tampa in the 2014 Championship Game. Keira McCarthy became the second in the 2015 quarterfinals when she also scored three times in Florida Tech’s 3‐0 win at Rollins. However, Emelie Karlsson of Barry holds the single game points record with seven (2 goals & 3 assists), which she set in a 7‐0 quarterfinal win over Eckerd in 2004.
National titles won by Barry came before the SSC adopted women’s soccer; Lynn’s 1996 title came as provisional SSC member and also before women’s soccer was adopted by the conference.
