INTRODUCTION
Florida Southern College (FSC) is known and recognized as one of the top colleges in the South, as well as one of the premier athletic programs in the NCAA Division II ranks. Therefore, it is critical that the visual elements that represent the institution and its image do so consistently and with integrity. Institutions nationally have begun to recognize the importance of image consistency, implementing cohesive standards to protect their brand, enhance the value of their names, and build a foundation for successful branding. Successful branding occurs when an entity presents itself consistently over time, creating an emotional connection with desired audiences, and providing easily recognizable logo usage. Too many identities and symbols create confusion in the minds of audiences whose support we seek: students, prospective students, parents, alumni, student-athletes, and supporters. While logos and symbols are not the sole elements of an institutional “brand, they are its visual representation and extension. When that visual representation is disconnected or inconsistent, it follows that the perception of the institution can also become disconnected and inconsistent. These are the reasons the Florida Southern logos and fonts have been streamlined, to minimize confusion and to strengthen the brand. By creating consistency and establishing standards in all athletic publications, graphics, uniforms and other forms of publicity, Florida Southern will better connect with its constituents and stakeholders.

TYPOGRAPHY - PRIMARY FONT
Typography is an integral part of the Florida Southern brand. It plays an important role in communicating the overall tone of the brand, and helps create a consistent look across department-wide publications. To aid in creating a consistent look for a wide variety of athletics-related communications, two logotypes are included in this style guide. The first logotype, called Helvetica Neue Bold Condensed has been designed to maintain consistency with the brand identity. It is the name font used for the “Florida Southern” portion of the Circle Mocs logo. The logotype strengthens the primary logo and helps distinguish the brand. In addition to Helvetica Neue Bold Condensed, the Helvetica Neue Bold Condensed Oblique font may also be used when italics are necessary.
