MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

The financial services industry again gave back in 2014, and the industry’s efforts made a real and positive impact. Thank you for all you did to make our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts a success. More than 434,000 community service projects were completed and those projects involved volunteer efforts by more than 598,000 member company employees. This demonstrates a significant increase over last year. In addition, FSR member companies raised and contributed more than $433 million to charities and nonprofit organizations in 2014. This 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Impact Report showcases our member company efforts to help their local communities. The Corporate Social Responsibility narratives also known as “Company of the Week” continue to exemplify how member company projects benefit consumers. Events and programs supporting financial literacy, recycling, feeding the hungry and park revitalization are just a few examples of the great work by our member companies to serve their communities. Our focus on financial literacy efforts continues with more than 37,000 financial literacy projects completed last year. Volunteers worked hard to increase financial education by spending time in classrooms or by working with FSR’s national financial literacy non-profit partners. FSR’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility will continue under the leadership of our 2015 Corporate Social Responsibility Chairman Beth Mooney, President and CEO, KeyCorp. We are grateful for her leadership and service. Thanks again and let’s make 2015 another noteworthy year for community service!

UNUM Unum Hosts Maine’s Largest Educational Slumber Party

It’s not a typical day at Unum when school buses from around the state pull up and 130 eighth-grade students hop off with sleeping bags, but it’s a special day that employees look forward to each year. Assurant’s charitable giving is focused in three

CAPITAL ONE Capital One Partners with the Council for Economic Education to Promote Financial Education in Schools

Capital One has long

supported efforts to connect young people with practical information about money management. KEYCORP Diversity and Inclusion as Key Values

Valuing diversity and fostering inclusion are important parts of KeyBank’s corporate fabric. Diverse employees, with their unique backgrounds and ideas, make Key more competitive, and the bank’s Key Business Networking Groups (KBNGs), specifically help attract, recruit, and retain such talent. When joining a KBNG, an employee discovers a great deal of camaraderie, professional development opportunities, and the chance to help Key connect with diverse communities wherever it does business. Economic inclusion is another important

part of KeyBank’s diversity focus, and Key consistently spends more than the national average with minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses. Key was named one of DiversityInc’s “Top 50 Companies for Diversity,” and a “Top 10” company for “Supplier Diversity” and “Diversity Councils.” KeyCorp has also received six perfect scores of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, for serving and supporting the LGBT community. TSYS team members are passionate about the United Way. TSYS has been the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley’s only million-dollar donor for the past five years. During the 2013 TSYS United Way campaign, team members at TSYS corporate headquarters in Columbus, Georgia, pledged to donate $1,213,598 in 2014. More than $1.55 million was pledged for 2014 across TSYS locations throughout the U.S. Team members don’t just show their support with their

wallets, they volunteer their time. In 2014, a dedicated group of runners at TSYS organized the annual city-wide United Way Run for the Valley 5K. “This race is picking up great momentum and in turn helping TSYS provide United Way with funds to help our community,” said Tiffany Szabo, a senior business analyst at TSYS. The race, sponsored by TSYS and Columbus Water Works, raised $5,647 for the United Way, double what was raised the previous year.

KEYCORP KeyBank Works to End Chronic Homelessness

According to a recent HUD report, more than 500,000 individuals have nowhere to go on any given night. The good news is that homelessness has declined 11 percent since 2007, and in Cleveland, Ohio, where chronic homeless has been a protracted issue, community partners have taken a strong stance to remedy it. “As long as we persevere, we will eradicate chronic homelessness in Cleveland,” said Kevin Nowak, VP in KeyBank’s Community Development segment. More than 40 organizations,

including KeyBank, created the Housing First Initiative in Ohio’s Cuyahoga County. Housing First partners agreed to produce 1,271 permanent supportive housing apartments, and, since 2006, they have decreased chronic homelessness in Cuyahoga County by nearly 73 percent. Key’s commitment to helping the homeless extends far outside of its headquarter city, across its entire branch network, from the Pacific Northwest to New England, and totals more than $100 million in investments.

Last year, KeyBank closed a transaction to provide Low Income Housing Tax Credit financing for the construction of Nativity House, in Tacoma, Washington. Residents will receive integrated services and those residing in the shelter will have the opportunity to transition to permanent housing.

WEBSTER BANK Webster Works to Prevent Elder Financial Abuse

From travel scams to false promises, sadly, seniors are often the targets of financial fraud and financial abuse; sometimes even the victim of the very people they know and trust the most. Webster Bank is in the midst of a year-long initiative providing free, informational seminars at senior centers and other public places to help people protect themselves – or someone they love – from becoming a victim of a financial scam. It’s just one way Webster lives up to its customers. Seniors learn

ways to identify, understand, and respond to fraud, including what types of scams are out there and how to report problems. Webster Bank recognizes that financial elder abuse is a growing concern in the financial industry and will have held about 80 of these public seminars by the time the year is through. Webster bankers will have also appeared on numerous television and radio programs to get the word out regarding this growing concern in the financial industry.

TSYS NetSpend Team Members Walk in Their Customers’ Shoes

For NetSpend, the newest member of the TSYS family and an organization that prides itself on serving an estimated 60 million unbanked and underbanked cardholders, a typical fundraiser or day of service wouldn’t suffice. Enter Community Connect. Community Connect was more than just an event. Over 450 team members spent the day walking in their customers’ shoes, experiencing for the day some of the tough choices NetSpend cardholders make each day. Forty-six teams were given $400 each, a bus pass,

and four hours to complete as many challenges as they could. Challenges ranged from filling up someone’s gas tank or buying hot meals for the homeless to using only public transportation, paying off pawn or payday loans and springing for parking for unsuspecting drivers. In addition to the more than $20,000 NetSpend invested in the Community Connect 2014 experience, the company also plans to donate up to $10,000 to charities based on team member votes.

A Life Safety Trailer was also onsite, equipped with fire safety demonstrations, courtesy of the Fairfield Fire Department, and the Fairfield Police Department provided child fingerprinting kits.
