the Editor’s voice
As we go into the summer time with many concerns, doubts and fears this year. We as a community have concerns with the new Presidential race, the out of control cops taking the lives of our loved ones, the big corporations constantly poisoning our communities and the constant lack of jobs for our working class, many of these issues are on going and we need to find true solutions instead of band aid fixes. We may not have answers to everything but we offer solutions the best way we can based in hope, inspiration and understanding. We seek to give our fellow man and woman pearls of wisdom, so they can include it in their order. This summer issue is symbolic of this cause and we seed the images and messages into the community consciousness to be received as solutions to the root issues that plague our community. We believe in the stop the violence movement but we say stop the violence not only physically, but mentally, spiritually, politically, economically, and emotionally. This violence against the human spirit needs to be addressed at its core. We are pleased to showcase an amazing designer Jazell Smith of BLKLST with the help of some of our most powerful women leaders of Chicago to create this visual editorial of fashion and symbolism entitled “Creating the village- the rise of the warrior princess” Please enjoy our pictorial journey and share!

Image if you wake up with $86,400 sitting in your
bank account and everyday at te end of the night it gone, whether you wasted it or not and then the next day you get another $86, 400. You’s do everything in your power to spend it, cause you know the next day you’re getting another $86,400. You don’t want to leave anything of it there. You’s want to make the best of it right? You get 86,000 seconds a day, why waste time, doesn’t carry over into the next day, doesn’t earn interest. Take everyday and every moment and make something of it , make something positive. Remember the difference between a rich person and a poor person is how effectively they utilize their 24 hours effectively. Mentally

The Drinkable Book™ is both a water filter and an instruction manual for how and why to clean drinking water. aquaponics A
re you wondering “what is aquaponics? The most simple definition is that it is the marriage of aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soilless growing of plants) that grows fish and plants together in one integrated system. The fish waste provides an organic food source for the growing plants and the plants provide a natural filter for the water the fish live in. The third participants are the microbes (nitrifying bacteria) and composting red worms that thrive in the growing media. They do the job of converting the ammonia from the fish waste first into nitrites, then into nitrates and the solids into vermicompost that that are food for the plants. You feed the fish, the fish feed the plants, and the plants clean the water. It’s that easy!
