Greetings from the Chancellor Dear Alumni and Friends: As the 2012 year comes to an end, I want to express my profound gratitude for your support of Fayetteville State University and the many initiatives that we have pursued over this past year. Despite continued budget cuts at the state level, all indices point to continued steady progress as we measure our forward movement of the university against the major deliverables identified in our The Future is Calling, Strategic Plan 2009-2014. We have managed our resources responsibly and continue to put learning and student life experiences at the front of our agenda. Just as most colleges and universities continue to struggle for scholarship dollars to recruit the best and brightest, and to lessen the burden of college expenses on limited family resources for all students, we continue to make scholarship fundraising one of our biggest priority areas while remaining true to our historical mantra of educational access. Our students are performing extraordinarily as we benchmark their progress against national and state standards, and we relish in the fact that the full university community has recommitted itself to student learning in a diverse and global academic setting. Additionally, we have put special emphasis towards both the 2+2 scholarship (transition from community college to a 4 year college), and the Global and Honors scholarships (to include an international experience). These scholarships should attract transfer and returning students whose education may have been interrupted, usually because of financial reasons.
