The Fund For FSU What Your Investment Means To FSU To continue our historical legacy of access, and to attract some of the best and brightest in our state and the nation, scholarship dollars are critical to assist both academically talented and emerging scholars. A major initiative in our upcoming Capital Campaign will be directed at raising scholarship dollars to serve more students and lessen their financial burden. Why We Give
This is
Quentin Reeves Major: Biology GPA: 3.78
Hometown: Fayetteville, NC My Bronco pride has emerged from the community around me. Fayetteville State University, the home of the Broncos, is where I want to be. I can truly say that I am “Proud To Be”. Hopefully you have a positive feeling about Fayetteville State University. In addition to that, I would like to spark your interest by giving you some personal insight. You are now reading a brief introduction of me, Quentin Reeves. I am currently seeking a degree in Biology. With the hard work that I have displayed throughout my freshman year, I was able to obtain a 3.78 GPA. When I first stepped on campus, I did not know what I wanted to do. As time passed, I began to realize what field attracted me. Biology was the perfect choice. My aspirations include the work of a laboratory technologist. I have a passion for science and found that hands-on activity is the best way to learn. I am from Fayetteville, so FSU is no stranger to me. Since it’s close to home I chose to attend here. When I was younger, I used to attend the FSU Homecoming Parade. It was exciting to see the different bands from high schools, and various administrators and staff that I did not know about until I enrolled here. Serving as Mr. Honors last year, I was able to participate in the parade as a representative of the Honors Program. I felt very fortunate to be able to participate in the parade as both a bystander and FSU contributor.
Greetings from the Chancellor Dear Alumni and Friends:
Dear Alumni and Friends, In 2008, this University took a bold step to define the quality of the academic and student life experiences at Fayetteville State University (FSU) as underscored in The Future is Calling: Strategic Plan 2009-2014. We concluded that we needed to raise our admissions standards to reaffirm the first-class education FSU provides as a constituent institution in The University of North Carolina System, while maintaining access for underserved populations. Great work is being realized through new academic programs, and the new emerging landscape of state-of-the art academic buildings and residence halls is visible evidence that FSU is Proud to Be!
Proudly, we have been recognized by the Chronicle of Higher Education and by the Social Science Research Network in research areas that mirror our academic programs and community outreach. New agreements with the United States Coast Guard and MIT University are tied to our Center for Defense and Homeland Security. Both serve as examples of our growing reputation in research by faculty and students with federal agencies and corporations. New partnership alliances with ten countries are yielding great support for study abroad and for expanding the university’s global reach. Most exciting is the splendid performance of our business students that won an award-winning business plan that is being celebrated nationally. This is why we give! Please join me in celebrating our current and potential students by supporting one or more of the identified Scholarship opportunities listed at www.uncfsu.edu/scholarships. Please note that you may also establish new endowed scholarships. The new Fund for FSU is an inclusive giving initiative in which all annual giving is captured and registered. Please give today! Thank you and best wishes,
Chancellor James A. Anderson
Maybelyn Rodriguez-Laureano
Major: Communication: Speech Concentration GPA: 3.0 Hometown: Tampa, FL I celebrated the personal achievement of graduating from high school one year early at the age of seventeen. In the midst of seeking higher education, there were two main attributes that highlighted FSU, which enticed me to enroll in this illustrious university. First and foremost, I sought a place that would guarantee my success as a student, not only academically, but also would shape my character as a well-rounded young adult, ready for the “real-world”. FSU is a HBCU with so many empowering programs and departments driven to further my personal growth. These include the Center for Personal Development, the Office of Career Services, and many others. FSU offered countless opportunities for me to gradually move forward each year in my development both personally and professionally. I fell in love with the FSU sense of community on campus. My first campus visit came in 2010, during an event called “First Steps”. Everyone that I came across, from faculty and staff to various orientation leaders, made me feel welcome, comfortable, and encouraged. The many clubs and organizations the school offers reassured me that this was a place where I could get involved and thrive. I was able to gain many friends and an extensive network like I never had experienced previously. I will again graduate one year early in May 2013. I am glad I chose FSU for my undergraduate studies and I will forever be a proud Bronco!

Dianne Fridia Major: Biology GPA: 3.378
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY My name is Dianne Fridia. I am from Brooklyn, New York. I have a GPA of 3.378. My major is biology with a minor in Pre-Veterinary Science. When I was in high-school, I did not plan to come to Fayetteville State University. I really wanted to go to another university because people advised me to do that. The more graduation came close, the more I considered Fayetteville State University. I live here in Fayetteville. I had a sister that went to FSU and also majored in Biology. My mother is also an alum of FSU. I came to FSU because I wanted to stay closer to home but after being here, I wanted to stay because it offered many great opportunities. I take pride in being a Global Scholar and a Member of the Honors in the Major (HIM) program. I am pushing myself to be a top notch student. Along with having those credentials, I am also an Integrated Stem Academic Success (ISAS) tutor, and I am continuing research that I did over the summer with the Undergraduate Research Opprotunities in Math and Science (UROMS) program. FSU takes pride in offering students as many opportunities as possible in Biology. “I am excited in furthering my education with FSU and I know good things will come from the rest of my two years remaining here. “
Andrew Joseph Brassard Major: Mathematics GPA: 3.658 Hometown: Cocoa Beach, FL
I attended Cross Creek Early College High School (CCECHS) and during that time I grew to like the campus and the professors. I also decided that I wanted to major in Mathematics. During my senior year of high school, I had to decide whether to go to another university or stay at FSU. AT CCECHS we were allowed to take ROTC our senior year which I did, and Air Force ROTC solidified my decision to stay at FSU.
Today, we need your help to advance our mission of service, teaching and research. Support our students, and the dedicated faculty and staff who teach and support them.
