As you might imagine, the Boat Parade doesn’t just happen. It requires hundreds of hours of planning, plus a large amount of money to pay for expenses such as trophies for our winners, engraving, printing, postage, banners & numbers, etc. We need your help with expenses for this year’s boat parade. Any excess funds will go toward the Philharmonic Society’s music education programs for the children of Orange County. HOME ENTRY - I agree to participate with HHPC in its effort to raise funds for children’s music th and education programs by keeping my home decorations lighted on Tuesday, Dec. 6 th th Wednesday, Dec. 7 , for judging, and during the Cruise of Lights®, Dec. 15-19 and Dec. 22-23rd, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition, I agree to return any award banner and house number received by me to the HHPC Office no later than January 15, 2017.



BOAT ENTRY - I agree to participate in the parade both Saturday night, December 10th, and Sunday night, December 11th, and to attend the MANDATORY SKIPPER’S meeting on Thursday, December 8th, at 7 p.m. at the HH YACHT CLUB, 3821 WARNER AVE. HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA 92649. In addition, I agree to return any award banner and all (3)

numbers received by me to the HHPC Office no later than January 15, 2017. I agree to hold the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee, its officers and committee members free of all liability of any nature for accident or injury to myself or any boat or real property.

I understand that the banners cost $100.00 and the numbers cost $7.00 each. If these items are not returned to the HHPC office, the cost of these items is deducted from the proceeds given to the children’s music education programs in our community. I will make every effort to return them.

Holiday Happenings in Huntington Harbour.

his December, you’ll experience the magic of the holiday season in Huntington Harbour. First, there’s the annual boat parade. This is the 54th year the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic Committee presents a breathtaking parade enjoyed by thousands of spectators.

“Symphony of Lights” is the theme this year. Dozens of boats will wind around Harbour waterways on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11. They’re decorated in lights of every size and shape. Some boats have animated decorations. Last year, there were many oohs and aahs for the Foland family butterfly boat with giant wings created by lights. Stars, reindeer, musical notes, bands, palm trees, and Santa were viewed as one boat after another joined in the fun. Entrants decorate to the theme...or in whatever way they want. Have a religious theme in mind? It’s always welcome. Traditional? Absolutely. Whimsical, romantic, oldies, classical...you’re sure to hear big applause from everyone watching the parade.

Out of area judges award prizes in many categories Beautiful trophies are proudly displayed by the winners.

Why does the Huntington Harbour Philharmonic present the boat parade? It’s a thank you to the residents for decorating their roofs, homes, decks, and docks.

marshal John de la Haye. “Our community comes together to celebrate, and raise money for the children, too.”

Right after the boat parade the HHPC presents the Cruise of Lights®...a 45 minute narrated boat tour where thousands see those home and boat decorations. Funds raised from the Cruise of Lights® support local children’s music programs. Guests came from as far away as China last year to see the Cruise of Lights®.

Do you have a boat? Have some fun this year, and join the parade. Entering is free. Corporate boats wanted, too. Your banner will be seen from all over the Harbour, including the little beaches and bridges. Anywhere people can catch the parade. Info: hhboatparade.com.

Cruise of Lights® dates are December 16-19 and December 22-23. This year, there are extended cruises available, plus Land and Sea cruises (including off-water home viewing, dinner, and a Cruise). Then, there’s Santa’s Special Night on December 19. Children 12 and under receive a free gift that night, and, of course get a big hello from Santa.
