The start of the Hare Scramble season has been nothing but over the top with daily phone calls, texts and emails thanks to the Hurricane. As a lot of us experienced the wrath of IAN, it also made an impact on our schedule. As CFTR always kicks off our Hare Scrambles season, things changed quickly as some of our clubs were in the flight zone and it wasn’t pretty. With CFTR and SADRA both on the same piece of property separated by the peace river, we both were affected. SADRA actually started Labor Day weekend and had about three weeks’ worth of trail laid out and the quad course was actually done. I told myself I wasn’t doing that again as it about bit me in the you know what last year with more mowing, more stakes, arrows, ribbon and the amount of manpower it takes to lay out three different courses, but I did it anyway. Well, it sort of bit me because over half of the quad course was under water and were talking feet, not inches. Our bike courses were also very wet with all those lakes and ponds overflowing and becoming a mini Lake Okeechobee, it was that bad.
Getting back to the FTR schedule, CFTR had some of the same issues and quickly realized that they also would have to reschedule. Along with the two Bartow races, DDR and Old School also inspected their property, they also would have to make some date changes. The only one that could hold their date was ACMC and the rest of us was in dire straits sort of speak. With a lot of communication between our chairman, myself and club presidents we were making things happen. Making sure our clubs had an opportunity to reschedule and keep our scheduled dates intact was the priority. Super proud of our four clubs that worked together as a team and for the betterment of our membership on accomplishing this huge task of rescheduling on a minute’s notice. So many things have to be checked on and approved on the club’s business end for clubs to change their date and each one made it happen. Kudos to CFTR, SADRA, DDR and OLD SCHOOL DIRT RIDERS as we have the same scheduled dates, just different locations and clubs. A special Thanks to Old School for allowing SADRA to take their December date as they probably could have pulled it off but decided to go later in the season, Thanks guys!

By the time you read this, CFTR will be in the books and SADRA will be close or just cleaning up from their event and Christmas will be here.
Hoping all our family, friends and members have a healthy and safe holiday while getting ready for the Mondon Hill event sponsored by Suncoast Trail Blazers.
Thanks for listening, Randy Faul
