Welcome to a new year! 2020 is behind us (thankfully) but it definitely left it’s mark. Sadly, many of us know or know of someone who passed because of COVID or a secondary condition.
I lost a good friend in December. He and his wife were the ones who first introduced me to the Christian Motorcyclist Association back in 1991. Mike was small in stature but a giant in his love for Jesus.
When we lose someone the question always arises, “Where are they now?” Like my friend, if you have a personal relationship with Jesus, the answer is a strong “in Heaven with Jesus”!!
2 Corinthians 4:17 states,” For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” We may suffer in illness but compared to eternity with Jesus, it is just seconds.
Romans 5:21 continues the promise. The sin in the world may have brought us to a physical death but, “So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
And that eternal life is guaranteed. We can never lose our relationship with Jesus. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one (John 10:28-30).
By confessing our sins, we agree with God that we cannot earn His love by what we do. We place our faith in the forgiving love of Jesus. “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession...( 1 Timothy 6:12)
If you’re not sure about Jesus, consider the words from this song by Nichole Nordeman. What If? What if you’re right? And he was just another nice guy What if you’re right? What if it’s true? They say the cross will only make a fool of you And what if it’s true?
But what if you’re wrong? What if there’s more? What if there’s hope you never dreamed of hoping for? What if you jump? And just close your eyes? What if the arms that catch you, catch you by surprise? What if He’s more than enough? What if it’s love?
Jesus is waiting to meet you! Call on His name and start your eternity!
Blessings on and off the road, Jim and Betty Edleston CMA
