Stefano Cellai is an Italian photographer and reporter, interested in capturing and reproducing the distinct light and color of each place that he visits. Stefano grew up and attended school in Florence. He was inspired each day by the tremendous architecture and the stunning atmosphere that surrounded him. Working as a reporter, Cellai has traveled to over 86 countries thus far. That being said, the breathtaking city of Florence, its people, and its monuments, make up a large majority of his portfolio.

The photographs exhibited are centralized on two themes: color and line. These abstractions allow for in-depth interpretation on the part of the viewer, allowing the viewer to experience a mystical feeling when viewing Cellai’s work.

Stefano Cellai inaugurerà mercoledì 7 novembre alle 18, durante il consueto Aperitivo del mercoledì al Ganzo, in via de’ Macci 85r, la sua mostra fotografica, organizzata dagli studenti FUA, intitolata Florentine Glow. Le fotografie esposte sono centralizzate su due temi: colore e linee.

“Amo fotografare solo con l’essenziale: colore e linee. Trovo che questi siano i più interessanti. Le immagini normali (standard) sono leggibili così presto, tutti possono leggerle.

Le immagini che sottolineano forma e colore richiedono tempo, per capire, puoi usare l’immaginazione e puoi pensare che significhi qualcosa di completamente diverso da quello che è il vero soggetto della fotografia.

“I love to photograph with just the essentials: color and line. I find these to be the most interesting. Everyone can read standard, detailed photographs. The pictures that emphasize shape and color take time to understand. You can use your creativity, your imagination, and you can think it means something entirely different from what the actual subject of the photograph is. ” Cellai dances between the scientific process of taking a correctly-composed image, and the artistic process of deciding how to tell his stories through images. He is the master of capturing some of the most-photographed sights in the world in a unique way. His photographs of recognizable landmarks in Florence are mystified through his abstraction of color and shape. Cellai’s watercolor-esque images allow room for the viewer to use their imagination, emphasizing the transcendence of time and place of his work, as well as focusing on the importance of the viewer’s interpretation.

L’organizzazione e l’allestimento è a cura degli studenti del corso di Gallery Curating Experiential Learning della FUA – Florence University of the Arts, diretti da Andrea Mancini, e si sviluppa attraverso i locali del ristorante/ laboratorio, interamente gestito dai ragazzi dei corsi di Cucina e di Vino di Apicius – International School of Hospitality.

Stefano Cellai was born in Bagno a Ripoli (FI) on February 26, 1957. He studied to graduate as a Master of Arts, and after his military service, he discovered his passion for photography. Cellai enters, as a photographer, into the world of fashion, entertainment, and news, to specialize in tourism reports whilst traveling the world. He has recently visited 86 countries, reporting for magazines, tour operators, agencies, and yet still continues with his photography, remaining based in Florence.

Stefano Cellai, nato a Bagno a Ripoli(FI) 26 febbraio 1957. Frequenta gli studi fino al diploma di Maestro d’Arte,e dopo il servizio militare scopre la passione per la fotografia. Entra cosÏ, come fotografo, nel mondo della moda, attualità , spettacolo, cronaca, fino a specializzarsi nei reportage di turismo, iniziando a girare il mondo.

Attulamente ha visitato 86 paesi, facendo reportage per riviste, tour operator, agenzie, e ancora oggi continua nel proprio lavoro, facendo sempre base a Firenze.
