Claudio Cionini wants his works to contain a simple, accessible, and captivating message that is easy to understand. His urban landscapes carry the goal of translating the emotion he felt while painting the scene and communicating an aspect of what he felt about the city. His work conveys a personal vision and a style, developed over time, that he achieves with soft brushstrokes and the perspective that is the key to reading his works. Cionini’s paintings lead you down a street, through skyscraper buildings, following light to escape into a vanishing point. The extended lines of the compositions drag the viewer into the work. His technique is a testament to the skill honed during his studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, where he was influenced by Professor Adriano Bimbi. He works quite a bit with an artist’s knife which creates changing volumes and irregular or corrupted areas due to the unpredictability of the method. Cionini begins his paintings by referencing photos in which he looks for light, perspective, and composition. He admires the work of photographer Gabriele Basilico for its focus on architectural aspects of landscapes. Cionini’s paintings rarely include figures, cars are occasionally included to add depth, however he is still able to convey the mood that people create due to the manmade features of architecture and industrialism. And for this reason, there is a human presence which acts as a subliminal message behind the rows of buildings and intersecting streets. By strategically choosing to focus on populated cities, he provokes the sensations that one feels while present in that location. He is attracted to the idea of a universal city, an atmosphere shaped by its nature of being a shared space. And in this way, it is less important where his landscapes are placed, instead the focus is on the light and air that surround the buildings.
Claudio Cionini vuole che le sue opere contengano un messaggio semplice, accessibile e accattivante, di facile comprensione. I suoi paesaggi urbani hanno l’obiettivo di tradurre l’emozione che ha provato mentre dipinge la scena e comunica ciò che attraverso gli occhi dell’artista riesce a percepire nel profondo, di fronte alle immagini della città. Il suo lavoro trasmette una visione personale e uno stile che, sviluppato nel tempo, raggiunge il pubblico in modo diretto, con le sue pennellate morbide e la prospettiva, che è poi la chiave per leggere le sue opere. I dipinti di Cionini ti guidano lungo una strada, attraverso edifici di grattacieli, seguendo la luce, fino al punto di fuga; le linee estese delle composizioni trascinano lo spettatore nell’opera. La sua tecnica è una testimonianza dell’abilità affinata durante i suoi studi all’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze, dove è stato influenzato dal professor Adriano Bimbi. Lavora creando volumi mutevoli e aree irregolari o corrotte a causa dell’imprevedibilità del metodo scelto. Cionini inizia i suoi dipinti facendo riferimento a foto in cui cerca luce, prospettiva e composizione, come nei lavori del famoso fotografo Gabriele Basilico, che Cionini ammira tanto per la sua attenzione agli aspetti architettonici dei paesaggi. I dipinti di Cionini raramente includono figure, le auto sono occasionalmente incluse per aggiungere profondità, tuttavia è in grado di trasmettere l’umore che le persone creano a causa delle caratteristiche artificiali dell’architettura e dell’industrialismo. E per questo motivo, c’è una presenza umana che funge da messaggio subliminale dietro le file di edifici e strade che si intersecano. Scegliendo strategicamente di concentrarsi sulle città popolate, provoca le sensazioni che si provano mentre si è presenti in quel luogo. Cionini è attratto soprattutto dall’idea di una città universale, un’atmosfera plasmata dalla sua natura di essere uno spazio condiviso. E in questo modo, è meno importante dove sono collocati i suoi paesaggi, ed invece l’attenzione è rivolta alla luce e all’aria che circondano gli edifici.

BIOGRAPHY A native of Piombino, Tuscany where his love of industrialized landscapes was nurtured, Claudio Cionini became attracted to the concept of art in his middle school years. He attended the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence and trained with the renowned painter Adriano Bimbi. Significantly inspired by Bimbi, Cionini has dedicated his life to painting the world in an impressionist perspective. The first landscape he painted was industrial, he lived in an iron industry city and was moved by the mechanical nature of surroundings. After a trip to Paris, he was inspired to create urban landscapes which allowed him to explore color. He is influenced by French naturalism, and cites Gustave Courbet’s work as a shaping factor when he was discovering his own style. He also admires the Spanish contemporary artist Antanio Garcia Lopez who paints scenes of Madrid.
BIOGRAFIA Nato a Piombino, in Toscana, dove è iniziato il suo amore per i paesaggi industrializzati, Claudio Cionini si è avvicinato all’arte negli anni della scuola media. Ha frequentato l’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze e si è formato con il famoso pittore Adriano Bimbi. Significativamente ispirato da Bimbi, Cionini ha dedicato la sua vita a dipingere il mondo in una prospettiva impressionista. Il primo paesaggio che dipinse fu proprio un paesaggio industriale, visse in una città dell’industria del ferro e fu mosso dalla natura meccanica dei dintorni. Dopo un viaggio a Parigi, è stato ispirato a creare paesaggi urbani che gli hanno permesso di esplorare il colore. È influenzato dal naturalismo francese e cita il lavoro di Gustave Courbet come fattore determinante quando ha scoperto il suo stile. Tra i suoi preferiti anche l’artista contemporaneo spagnolo Antonio Garcia Lopez, conosciuto per gli scorci della città di Madrid.
