La tortuga ‘boba’ que perdió una aleta regresó al mar FMHOY - Fuerteventura Los niños del campamento Parque Vivo del Campamento ‘Parque Vivo’ del colegio Bernabé Figueroa Umpiérrez bautizaron, el pasado mes de julio, con el nombre de Bernarda a la tortuga ‘boba’ (Caretta caretta) que apareció hace dos meses enmallada en artes de pesca y que, tras perder una aleta herida, regresó al mar en una suelta organizada desde la Consejería de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo. El caso de la tortuga Bernarda se remonta dos meses atrás, cuando el pasado 2 de mayo los servicios de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo se movilizaron para atender a un ejemplar adulto de Caretta caretta que fue encontrado enmallado en artes de pesca en la zona de Punta Gorda (entre Majanicho y El Cotillo) y que, como consecuencia de ello, contaba con graves heridas en la aleta anterior derecha, hasta el punto de presentar un avanzado estado de necrosis en la extremidad. Tras su envío a Gran Canaria y gracias a las atenciones dispensadas por los servicios veterinarios del Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Accidentada de Tafira, este ejemplar adulto de tortuga ‘boba’ (de unos 56 cm. de largo y una edad estimada de 5 años) pudo regresar a su medio natural, a pesar de haber sido inevitable la amputación de su aleta herida.

Die Kinder des Zeltlagers ‘Parque Vivo’ der Schule Bernabé Figueroa Umpiérrez gaben im Juli der unechten Karettschildkröte (Caretta caretta), die sich vor zwei Monaten in Fischernetzen verfangen hatte, nachdem sie eine Flosse verloren hatte, den Namen Bernarda. Sie kehrte im Rahmen einer vom Amt für Umwelt des Cabildo organisierten Freilassung kehrte ins Meer zurück. Vor zwei Monaten, am 2. Mai, machte sich der Umweltdienst des Cabildo auf, um einer unechten Karettschildkröte zu helfen, die sich in der Gegend von Punta Gorda (zwischen Majanicho und El Cotillo) in Fischernetzen verfangen hatte und dadurch schwere Verwundungen an der rechten Flosse erlitten hatte. Sie hatte sogar eine starke Nekrose. Diese unechte Karettschildkröte, (die ungefähr 56 cm lang und 5 Jahre alt ist), wurde nach Gran Canaria geschickt und dort von Tierärzten im Rehabilitationszentrum für verunglückte Tiere in Tafira behandelt. Danach konnte sie in ihren natürlichen Lebensraum zurückkehren. Die verletzte Flosse musste jedoch amputiert werden.

The case of Bernarda dates from two months back, when on 2nd May, the Cabildo’s Environment Services attended an adult specimen of Caretta caretta that was caught in fishing nets in the area of Punta Gorda (between Majanicho and El Cotillo) and that, as a consequence, was quite hurt on its forward right flipper, to the point of having a severe case of necrosis on its extremity. After being sent to Gran Canaria and thanks to the care from the veterinarian services of the Fauna Casualty Centre in Tafira, this specimen of Loggerhead sea turtle (about 56 cm in length and estimated to be about 5 years old) was able to go back to its natural environment, despite having to be amputate of its damaged flipper.

Fuerteventura supera por primera vez los 200 artesanos acreditados oficialmente FMHOY - Fuerteventura Veinte nuevos artesanos recibieron el pasado mes de julio, de manos de la institución insular, el carné que les acredita para ejercer esta profesión de manera oficial. En el mismo acto, otros 9 artesanos renovaron su acreditación tras cuatro años trabajando en el oficio, en ambos casos tras superar las pruebas de capacitación y acreditar el cumplimiento de los requisitos necesarios ante la Comisión Insular de Artesanía. Con la entrega de estos nuevos carnés, el Cabildo ha censado en las dos convocatorias del presente año hasta 41 nuevos artesanos, mientras que otros 22 han renovado sus acreditaciones. Con estas cifras, ya son 201 las personas que cuentan con el carnet oficial de artesano en Fuerteventura en alguna de sus dos vertientes, artesanía tradicional o creativa, siendo la primera vez en la historia que el censo oficial del sector supera los dos centenares. Mario Cabrera, presidente del Cabildo, incidió en el buen momento que vive el sector de la artesanía en Fuerteventura tras el trabajo que ha venido realizando el Cabildo desde que “hace 12 años sólo funcionara la tienda de Artesanía de Betancuria, hasta alcanzar las cuatro que funcionan en la actualidad, una de ellas abierta los 365 días del año en el Aeropuerto. Además, esperamos próximamente poner en marcha tres tiendas más en los muelles de Morro Jable y Corralejo, y otra tienda de Productos de Fuerteventura en la que se venderá también artesanía en la Avenida Primero de Mayo de Puerto del Rosario”. Las cuatro tiendas oficiales que gestiona el Cabildo se encuentran ubicadas en el Aeropuerto, el Molino de Antigua, junto al Museo Arqueológico de Betancuria y en el Centro de Arte Juan Ismael. El carné de artesano permite también participar en cualquier feria de artesanía oficial a nivel regional, lo que incluye en lo que respecta a la isla majorera la Feria Insular de Artesanía que se celebra en Antigua, el Mercado Artesanal de Tetir, y la navideña Regalarte que promueve el Cabildo.

Over 200 handcraft makers officially registered in Fuerteventura Twenty new handcraft makers received in July their licence allowing them to work officially. During the event, 9 handcraft makers renewed their licence after working for four years in this area, and in both cases, after succeeding in the tests required to comply with all the necessary requirements by the Island’s Handcraft Commission. With those new licences, the Cabildo has registered 41 new handcraft makers in this year’s two sessions, while 22 renewed their licences. This means that there are now 201 persons officially registered as handcraft makers in Fuerteventura, whether as traditional or creative handcraft makers. This is the

first time ever that the official register in this sector reaches over two hundred. Mario Cabrera, president of the Cabildo, pointed out that Fuerteventura’s handcraft making sector is going through a good phase after the efforts that the Cabildo has been making considering that “12 years ago, the handcraft shop in Betancuria was the only shop available and that there are now four of them, of which the airport shop is open 365 days per year. Furthermore, we hope to soon put in place another three shops in commercial centres in Morro Jable and Corralejo and another shop with Products from Fuerteventura where handcrafts will also be sold in Avenida Primero de Mayo in Puerto del Rosario”. The four official shops that the Cabildo is managing are located in the Airport, in Antigua’s windmill, next to Betancuria’s Archaeology Museum and in the Juan Ismael Art Centre. The handcraft maker’s licence also allows makers to participate in any official handcraft fair on a regional level, which also includes the Island’s Handcraft Fair that is celebrated in Antigua, Tetir’s Handcraft Market and the Regalarte Christmas Fair organised by the Cabildo.

Auf Fuerteventura gibt es zum ersten Mal mehr als 200 öffentlich anerkannte Kunsthandwerker FMHOY - Fuerteventura Zwanzig neue Kunsthandwerker bekamen im Juli von der Inselregierung den offiziellen Kunsthandwerkerschein. Bei der gleichen Veranstaltung erneuerten weitere 9 Handwerker ihre Zulassung, die seit vier Jahren in diesem Bereich tätig sind. Sowohl die neuen als auch die letzeren mussten eine Befähigungsprüfung ablegen und der Insel-Kommission für Kunsthandwerk nachweisen, dass sie die erforderlichen Bedingungen erfüllen. Mit der Übergabe dieser neuen Scheine hat der Cabildo dieses Jahres 41 insgesamt Kunsthandwerker akkreditiert. 22 weitere Kunsthandwerker haben ihre Zulassung erneuert. Inzwischen verfügen schon 201 Personen über den offiziellen Kunsthandwerkerschein von Fuerteventura für traditionelles oder kreatives Kunsthandwerk. Es ist das erste Mal in der Geschichte, dass es mehr als 200 offiziell erfasste Kunsthandwerker gibt. Mario Cabrera, der Präsident des Cabildo, wies darauf hin, dass der Kunsthandwerkssektor zurzeit auf Fuerteventura gut läuft, was mit der Arbeit zu tun hat, die der Cabildo in diesem Bereich durchführt: „Vor 12 Jahren gab es nur den Kunsthandwerksladen in Betancuria; inzwischen haben wir vier und der am Flughafen ist an 365 Tagen des Jahres geöffnet. Außerdem beabsichtigen wir demnächst vier weitere Geschäfte in den Häfen von Morro Jable und Corralejo zu eröffnen sowie ein weiteres Geschäft mit Produkten aus Fuerteventura in der Avenida Primero de Mayo in Puerto del Rosario, in dem auch Kunsthandwerk verkauft werden soll”. Die vier offiziellen Kunsthandwerksläden des Cabildo sind am Flughafen, in der Mühle von Antigua, neben dem archäologischen Museum von Betancuria und im Kunstzentrum Juan Ismael. Wer den Kunsthandwerkerschein besitzt, kann auch an jeder regionalen Kunsthandwerksmesse teilnehmen. Dazu gehören auch die Inselmesse für Kunsthandwerk von Fuerteventura, die in Antigua stattfindet, sowie den Kunsthandwerkermarkt von Tetir und der Weihnachtsmarkt Regalarte, der vom Cabildo gefördert wird.

Éxito de participación en el Open de Tenis Fuerteventura Sur FMHOY - Fuerteventura Una vez finalizada la primera edición del Open de tenis Fuerteventura Sur, es el momento de hacer recuento de los datos de participación así como de los participantes y ganadores de este magnífico evento deportivo. En lo estrictamente deportivo, hubo un muy buen nivel de tenis, calurosas e intensas jornadas, destacando el nivel mostrado por los/las jugadores jóvenes. Las bajas de última hora se supieron sustituir y el torneo pudo contar con la presencia de prometedoras raquetas del tenis canario que hicieron disfrutar al público que se acerco a las 3 pistas de tenis del Hotel Resort Stella Canaris de Jandía. La entrega de premios se realizó en la pista central al termino de los partidos finales donde fueron premiados los siguientes participantes: Categoría Alevín Entre las chicas la campeona Melissa Puerma vencía en la final a Noemi Rondanini por 7/1. En los chicos, el jugador benjamín de Costa Calma, Yari Ramella, demostró su diferencia a lo largo del fin de semana, venciendo por 7/0 al finalista Airam Rodríguez. Categoría Infantil Destacó el concurso del campeón Ismael Linero que venció en la final a un luchador Christian Pieper por 7/5 y 6/4. Categoría Junior La categoría Junior tuvo una extraordinaria representación; la final la gano el joven jugador de Lanzarote Theodore Bashford ante un nervioso Mathias Ramella. Mathias gano en semifinales al joven y talentoso jugador de Las Palmas Bryan Triana y Theodore al jugador local Christian Pieper. Categoría Absoluta Entre las chicas se proclamo vencedora la jugadora Simonetta Bazzano ante la jugadora de Puerto del Rosario Camilla Pintón por 6/3 y 6/1. El campeón masculino fue el jugador conejero Theodore Bashford por abandono del finalista Mathias Ramella en el set final cuando se el marcador era 6/7(7), 6/3 y 1/0 en el tercer set. Destacó la actuación de los jugadores Richard Van Linden y Jose Manuel Trujillo que caían en semifinales y los jugadores de Lanzarote Caicedo y Arias que junto con Javier Freire y el gallego Roberto Pico se quedaron en cuartos de final.

Zahlreiche Teilnehmer beim Open-Tennis von Fuerteventura-Süden Das erste Open-Tennis von Fuerteventura-Süden ist vorbei. Nun ist der Zeitpunkt gekommen, um die Daten über die Teilnehmer und die Gewinner dieses hervorragenden Sport-Events auszuwerten. Was den Sport betrifft: das Tennis-Niveau war an diesen heißen und intensiven Tagen sehr hoch. Vor allem die jungen Spieler und Spielerinnen hatten ein bemerkenswert gutes Niveau. An dem Turnier nahmen die vielversprechenden Spieler der Kanaren teil und begeisterten das Publikum, das die drei Tennis-Plätze des Hotels Resort Stella Canaris in Jandía besuchte. Die Vergabe der Preise fand auf dem Haupttennisplatz statt, wo folgende Teilnehmer ausgezeichnet wurden: Neulinge Unter den Mädchen gewann die Meisterin Melissa Puerma mit 7:1 im Finale gegen Noemi Rondanini. In der Kategorie der Jungen zeigte ein Nachwuchsspieler aus Costa Calma, Yari Ramella, im Laufe des Wochenendes sein Können, als er mit 7:0 gegen den Finalisten Airam Rodríguez gewann. Kinder-Kategorie Die Leistung des Meisters Ismael Linero muss erwähnt werden, der im Finale gegen Christian Pieper

mit 7:5 und mit 6:4 gewann. Junior-Kategorie In der Junior-Kategorie gab es hervorragende Spieler: Im Finale gewann ein junger Spieler aus Lanzarote, Theodore Bashford, gegen den nervösen Mathias Ramella. Mathias hatte im Semifinale gegen den jungen und talentierten Spieler aus Las Palmas, Bryan Triana gewonnen; Theodore hatte gegen den örtlichen Spieler Christian Pieper gewonnen. Haupt-Kategorie Unter den Frauen gewann Simonetta Bazzano gegen die Spielerin aus Puerto del Rosario Camilla Pintón mit 6:3 und mit 6:1. Unter den Männern gewann der aus Lanzarote stammende Spieler Theodore Bashford wegen Aufgabe des Finalisten Mathias Ramella im letzten Satz, als das Match 6:7(7), 6:3 stand sowie mit 1:0 im dritten Satz. Außerdem müssen die Spieler Richard Van Linden und Jose Manuel Trujillo erwähnt werden, die in den Semifinales ausgeschieden sind sowie die Spieler aus Lanzarote Caicedo und Arias, die zusammen mit Javier Freire und dem Gallizier Roberto Pico im Viertelfinale herausflogen.

Success of South Fuerteventura’s tennis Open FMHOY - Fuerteventura After the first edition of South Fuerteventura’s tennis Open, is it time to put together the participation data, the participants and the winners of this magnificent sport’s event. Speaking of sports only, the level of tennis played was very good, days were hot and intense, and the level displayed by young players was outstanding. The last minute cancellations were replaced and the tournament included the participation of promising Canarian tennis players who played for the pleasure of the public that gathered together on the three tennis courts of Hotel Resort Stella Canaris in Jandía. The prizes were handed over on the central court where the following participants were rewarded: Alevín category Amongst the girls, the champion Melissa Perma won over Noemi Rondanini 7/1. Amongst boys, the young player from Costa Calma, Yari Ramella, stood out over the weekend and won 7/0 over Airam Rodríguez. Infantil category The champion Ismael Linero won in the final against Christian Pieper 7/5 and 6/4. Junior category The junior category got an extraordinary representation; the final was won by a player from Lanzarote Theodore Bashford against a nervous Mathias Ramella. Mathias won against the young and talented player from Las Palmas Bryan Triana and Theodore against the local player Christian Pieper.

Fuerteventura se luce en la manifestación del Orgullo en Madrid FMHOY - Fuerteventura La Isla estuvo presente en la manifestación del Orgullo LGTB celebrada en Madrid el pasado día 2 de julio, que convocó a cientos de miles de personas a lo largo de la Gran Vía de la capital española, entre la Puerta de Alcalá y la Plaza de España.

Entre las 28 carrozas participantes, la organizada desde el Patronato de Turismo del Cabildo de Fuerteventura fue de las más destacadas, y la única de

todo el recorrido que hacía referencia a un destino turístico. La manifestación se desarrolló en esta ocasión bajo el lema ‘Salud e Igualdad por Derecho’. La participación de la carroza majorera en el evento fue posible gracias a la colaboración del colectivo LGTB en la Isla, Altihay.

La carroza de Fuerteventura estuvo decorada con logotipos y motivos del Patronato adaptados especialmente para realzar la condición de la isla como destino gay friendly. La guagua contó con la presencia de Amor, ex concursante de Gran Hermano, los componentes del colectivo Altihay y algunos carnavaleros que animaron el recorrido.

Fuerteventura war auf der Gay-Pride-Demonstration in Madrid Die Insel hat am 2. Juli an der LGTB-Gay-PrideDemontration in Madrid teilgenommen. In der spanischen Hauptstadt marschierten Hundertausende durch die Gran Vía, die sich zwischen der Puerta de Alcalá und der Plaza de España befindet. Unter den 28 Wagen, die an dem Umzug teilnahmen, gehörte der des Patronats für Tourismus des Cabildo von Fuerteventura zu den aufsehenerregendsten und war außerdem der einzige, der für einen Urlaubsort Werbung machte. Das Motto der Demonstration war ‘Gesundheit und

gleiche Rechte’. Der Wagen aus Fuerteventura konnte dank der Unterstützung des auf der Insel tätigen LGTB-kollektivs Altihay teilnehmen. Der Wagen aus Fuerteventura war mit Logos und Motiven des Patronats geschmückt, die darauf hinwiesen, dass die Insel ein besonders Gay-freundlicher Urlaubsort ist. Im Bus saßen Amor, ein ehemaliger Teilnehmer der Fernsehsendung Gran Hermano, die Mitglieder des Kollektivs Altihay und einige Karnevalskünstler, die alle während des Umzugs für gute Stimmung sorgten.

Fuerteventura stands out in Madrid’s Orgullo event FMHOY - Fuerteventura The island took part in the Orgullo LGTB event celebrated in Madrid on 2nd July where thousands of people gathered along the Gran Vía of the Spanish Capital, between Puerta de Alcalá and Plaza de España. 28 floats participated and the float that was organised by Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s Tourism Council was amongst those that stood out the most and the only one that made a reference to a tourism destination. The event was organised under the theme “Salud e Igualdad por Derecho” (Health and Equality by Right). The participation of the Majorero float was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the LGTB association on the Island, Altihay. Fuerteventura’s float was decorated with logos and patterns of the Council that were specially adapted to show that the island is a gay friendly destination. The event included the participation of Amor, ex competitor of Gran Hermano (Big Brother), members of the Althihay association and some carnival animators.

La explosión musical de Terrakota arrolló en la primera jornada Fuerteventura en Música FMHOY - Fuerteventura La versatilidad y explosividad multicultural de Terrakota, junto a la gentileza de Raimundo Amador, el maestro sencillo, removieron en su primera jornada, el corazón del público en el festival Fuerteventura en Música 2011, reuniendo en los momentos de mayor afluencia a unas 9.000 personas en la Playa de La Concha, en El Cotillo. Terrakota cantó a la emancipación de las fronteras, al pueblo libre, a la verdad, a la tierra, al amor y la unidad de las culturas, fieles a un estilo inclasificable de absoluta fusión musical, para levantar de la arena a todos los espectadores de una de las veladas del viernes más concurridas que se recuerdan en las ocho ediciones del festival. Los portugueses dieron la sorpresa, entre comillas, de la velada, porque no podía ser de otra manera dada la permeabilidad musical y el afán integrador de este increíble grupo, contando en su actuación con la aclamada colaboración en el escenario del joven timplista majorero Althay Páez, a quien conocieron en el encuentro con los medios celebrado en el Muellito de El Cotillo que acabó convirtiéndose en una jam session improvisada. Raimundo Amador también interpretó un tema con ellos confirmando a Terrakota como uno de los grupos más representativos del mestizaje que promueve Fuerteventura en Música. Terrakota desarrolló un arrollador torbellino de sonidos africanos, bases de reggae y dub, influencias latinas, europeas y el más recientemente incorporado sonido de la India. El público se rindió a la fuerza y el liderazgo Romi Anauel y Júnior, triunfantes en la compañía de cinco impresionantes músicos que se valie-

El hip-hop melódico y siempre reivindicativo de Expavi cautivó con sus bases sencillas y su combinación de rap y armonioso coros. Los caboverdianos, primer grupo africano que actúa en la presente edición del festival, fueron los segundos de la noche y agradaron sobremanera. Sin ser los más conocidos del cartel, demostraron el buen hacer de Casa África a la hora de seleccionar a sus representantes en el festival. Con su mensaje de “paz amor verdad e igualdad”, Airton Lopes, Nivaldo da Luz y Jair Rendall Almeida culminaron su actuación aclamados por el público. Blues de Gofio prometió energía y el público la tuvo. Los majoreros abrieron el festival ante una concurrencia que se hizo cada vez numerosa a medida que avanzaba su actuación, unos 45 minutos de funk, rock y pop que finalmente se hicieron pocos. El personal, mayormente local, acabó pidiendo más a los suyos. Aceysele Chacón al bajo, Jaran Rodríguez a la batería, Pepín Vega y el vocalista Tony Santana lo dieron todo y superaron las mejores expectativas ofreciendo una gran actuación Fue Dj Pablo Dub quien marcó los tiempos entre los cambios de artistas, recorriendo en sus mezclas los ritmos africanos, el chillout y un atractivo electroswing de raíces reggae y blues, amén de un enérgico funk. El madrileño cerró también la velada con una sesión basada en un tecno profundo (deep techno) con alma, en el que los cambios, fluidos y lineales, introdujeron lentamente al público en la intensidad continua ideada por el DJ, valiéndose para ellos de las melodías Aril Brikha, Stewart Walker, Monolake o Mauricio, entre otros.

El virtuosismo de Alex Cuba cerró la exitosa edición 2011 de Fuerteventura en Música

FMHOY - Fuerteventura Fuerteventura en Música vivió anoche una de sus ediciones más exitosas, convocando a las alrededor de 11.000 personas que se dieron cita en la Playa de La Concha para disfrutar de las actuaciones de Juan Perro, Alex Cuba, Dervish y Domu Afrika Dub Squad. En el acumulado del fin de semana, la organización del festival –a cargo del Cabildo de Fuerteventuracalcula que la afluencia total ha podido estar situada en torno a las 20.000 personas. El artista de la noche fue Alex Cuba, que hipnotizó al público congregado en El Cotillo haciendo gala de un repertorio personal cargado de un talento virtuoso, dinámico y cercano, demostrando por qué ha sido Grammy Latino a Mejor Artista Revelación en 2010. La incógnita de este artista –es original de un pueblo de La Habana, afincado en Canadá y considerado actualmente como la vanguardia de la música latina contemporánea- se resolvió con una actuación llena de energía, melódica y creativa, en la que especialmente destacó el alma de su guitarra para levantar al público de la arena e invitarlo a bailar, con tan sólo el apoyo de sus dos compañeros Max Sennit y David Gabin al bajo y la batería. Juan Perro hizo gala de su vocación de trovador reivindicativo y músico multifacético. Junto a una banda estupenda, el alter ego de Santiago Auserón desplegó su personaje, ofreciendo una actuación que inició su recorrido alrededor de en un estilo jazzero, pausado y profundo, para ir derivando hacia sonidos

interiorizados por el artista desde los soneros cubanos y los ritmos latinos. Juan Perro fu libertad en el

escenario, y se entregó a fondo a su propio estilo para llegar al público improvisando, conectando desde su poética en cada introducción. Los irlandeses Dervish pusieron la nota étnica de la noche, con una bailable demostración de música tradicional de origen celta. La presencia de Cathy Jordan y sobre todo su potente y a un tiempo melodiosa y cantarina voz guió a un grupo de veteranos músicos que se valieron de la flauta y el violín, junto a exóticos instrumentos como la mandola, el bouzouki y el bodhram -instrumento de percusión irlandés por excelencia-, para deleitar al respetable. Los encargados de abrir la noche fueron los caboverdianos Domu Afrika Dub Squad, con su particular y melódico reggae, en cuya actuación destacó la voz de Edson Oliviera. Un grupo sorprendente que desea convertirse en embajador de la música reggae original caboverdiana y que demostró que la evolución de este estilo está todavía viva. Fuerteventura en Música, evento integrador y multicultural que organiza el Cabildo de Fuerteventura bajo los valores de respeto al entorno y entre las personas, mostró en su octava edición una nueva versión de sí mismo, haciendo coincidir en el mismo espacio a un público intergeneracional.

The multicultural musical explosion of Terrakota swept away the first day of the FEM 2011 FMHOY - Fuerteventura The versatility and multicultural explosion of Terrakota, together with the kindness of Raimundo Amador, the silent maestro, won the heart of the public on the first day of the festival Fuerteventura en Musica 2011, when around 9.000 people gathered during the busiest moments of the festival on Playa de La Concha in El Cotillo. Terrakota sang about the emancipation of borders, freedom, truth, the earth, love and the unity of cultures, faithful to an indescribable style of absolute musical fusion that got everyone off the sand on one of the most memorable Friday nights of the past eight editions of the festival. The Portuguese made a special surprise during the evening thanks to the integration eagerness of this incredible group that included the collaboration of the young Majorero Timple player, Althay Páez, well known amongst the crowd in the small Harbour of El Cotillo, which all ended into an improvised jam session. Raimundo Amador also joined in and confirmed that Terrakota was one of the most representative multicultural groups taking part in Fuerteventura en Música. Terrakota presented an overwhelming whirlwind of African sounds, bases of Raggae and dub, Latino and European influences and recently even incorporated sounds inspired from India. The public surrendered to the strength and leadership of Romi Anauel and Júnior, triumphant amongst five impressive musicians who showed their worth on conventional instruments such as the guitar, the base guitar and the drums.

But they also woke up the multiracial spirit on the sand of El Cotillo through sounds emanating from traditional instruments such as the n’goni and sabar (percussions’ instrument from Senegal), the sitar, the balafan, the mbira or the oud. Before that, Raimundo Amador had made a first surprise appearance on the stage when he accompanied the signer La Negra in the second part of her show. The artist, who had already participated in this same festival in the 2007 edition, accompanied the maestro with her vibrant and sweet voice. Amador unleashed his musical stream of flamenco fusion and put the public in his pocket there and then with his own versions of Veneno and Pata Negra, like with the southern rock of Jessica or the unrepeatable “Ay que gustito pa mis orejas”. The melodic and ever protesting hip-hop of Expavi

captivated the audience with its simple bases and combination of rap and harmonious chorus. Los Caboverdianos, the first African group to play in this edition of the festival were the second ones on stage during the evening and were exceedingly successful. Although they weren’t the most renowned group, they showed the skill of Casa África when it comes to selecting their representatives for the festival. With their message of “peace, love, truth and equality”, Airton

Lopes, Nivaldo da Luz and Jair Rendall Almeida ended their act under the applause of the public. Blues de Gofio promised energy and that’s exactly what the public got. The Majoreros opened the festival in front of an audience that was getting bigger as the act went on, about 45 minutes of funk, rock and pop of which there was very little. The personnel, mostly local, ended up asking for more of their own. Aceysele Chacón at the base guitar, Jaran Rodríguez at the drums, Pepín Vega and the vocalist Tony Santana gave their very best and exceeded the greatest expectations by offering a great act. It was the DJ Pablo Dub who animated the moments between the artist changes with mixes of African rhythm, chillout and an attractive electroswing with reggae and blues’ roots as well as an energetic funk. The DJ from Madrid also ended the night with a session based on deep techno with soul, in which the fluid and linear changes, slowly introduced to the public in the continuous intensity conceived by the DJ, with tunes of Aril Brikha, Stewart Walker, Monolake or Mauricio, to name a few.

Along the weekend, the organisers of the festival – through Fuerteventura’s Cabildo – estimated that the total number of visitors must have reached around 20.000 people. The artist of the night was Alex Cuba, who hypnotised the crowd congregated in El Cotillo displaying his personal repertoire charged with an expert, dynamic and known talent which has been recognised as the Revelation for Best Artist in the Grammy Latino awards in 2010. The mystery of this artist – comes from a village in La Habana, lives in Canada and is currently considered as an avant-guarde musician in contemporary Latino music – was settled by an act full of energy, melodies and creativity where the soul of its guitar was especially notable and got the public dancing on the sand with the support of his two companions Max Sennit and David Gabin on the base guitar and the drums. Juan Perro displayed his vocation as a protesting troubadour and multi-faceted musician. Together with an amazing band, the alter ego of Santiago Anserón unveiled his character, offering an act that started its journey around a jazz style, slow and deep, to continue towards sounds more personal to the artist with Cuban sounds and Latino rhythms. Juan Perro looked like freedom on stage; he devoted himself completely to his own style to reach the public with improvisations and connecting with his poesy in each introduction. The Irish group, Dervish, brought an ethnic note to the night, with traditional Celtic music that could be danced to. The presence of Cathy Jordan and her strong but melodious voice guided a group of veteran musicians who played the flute and the violin together

with exotic instruments such as the mandolin, the bouzouki and bodhram – Irish percussion instruments – to the delights of the crowd. The group from Cape Verde, Domu Afrika Dub Squad was in charge of opening the night with their peculiar and melodious reggae with the outstanding voice and presence of Edson Oliviera. This surprising group wishes to become the ambassador for original

reggae music from Cape Verde and demonstrated that the evolution of this style is still ongoing. Fuerteventura en Música is a multicultural event that promotes integration. It is organised by Fuerteventura’s Cabildo under the values of respect of the environment and people. Its eighth edition showed yet another version of itself, by making an intergenerational public share the same space.

Die musikalische Explosion von Terrakota sorgte am ersten Tag von FEM 2011 für Begeisterung FMHOY - Fuerteventura Die Vielseitigkeit und die multikulturelle Explosivität von Terrakota und die Großzügigkeit von Raimundo Amador, dem bescheidenen Meister, eroberten am ersten Tag des Festivals „Fuerteventura en Música 2011“ die Herzen des Publikums. Es versammelten sich ungefähr 9.000 Personen am Strand La Concha, der zu El Cotillo gehört. Terrakota sang gegen Grenzen, für freie Völker, für die Wahrheit, die Erde, die Liebe und die Vereinigung der Kulturen. Diese Gruppe ist der musikalischen Fusion absolut treu und brachte die Zuschauer Freitag dazu, vor Begeisterung aufzustehen. Es war eine der am besten besuchten Veranstaltungen des gesamten 8-tägigen Festivals. Die Portugiesen sorgten bei der Veranstaltung für Überraschungen, denn die Musik und die integrierende Gefallsucht dieser unglaublichen Gruppe - an deren Auftritt auch der junge, aus Fuerteventura stammende, Timple-Spieler Althay Páez beteiligt war, den sie bei der Pressekonferenz im Muellito de El Cotillo kennengelernt hatten - wurde zu einer improvisierten Jam Session. Auch Raimundo Amador interpretierte ein Stück mit ihnen und bestätigte damit, dass Terrakota eine der bedeutendsten Gruppen für Fusion wurde, die bei „Fuerteventura en Música“ auftraten. Terrakota sorgte mit einer Mischung aus afrikanischen Einflüssen, Reggae und Club sowie lateiname-

rikanischen, europäischen und indischen Einflüssen für viel Wirbel. Das Publikum ergab sich der Power und der Führung von Romi Anauel und Júnior, die zusammen mit fünf beeindruckenden Musikern triumphierten, welche konventionelle Instrumente wie Giutarre, Bass und Schlagzeug spielten. Sie sorgten aber auch am Strand von El Cotillo für Fusion mit den Klängen von traditionellen Instrumenten wie dem

N’goni, dem Sabar (Percussion aus Senegal), dem Sitar, dem Balafon, der Mbira und dem Oud. Raimundo Amador sorgte für die erste Überraschung der Nacht, als er im zweiten Teil seines Konzerts zusammen mit der Sängerin La Negra auf der Bühne erschien. Die Künstlerin, die schon im Jahr 2007 an diesem Festival teilgenommen hatte, begleitete den Meister mit ihrer vibrierenden schönen Stimme. Amador sorgte mit Flamenco-Fusion für tolle Musik und eroberte das Publikum mit Stücken von Veneno und Pata Negra, wie dem Rock „Jessica“oder dem unvergesslichen „Ay que gustito pa mis orejas.“ Der melodische und engagierte Hip-Hop von Expavi begeisterte mit seiner Mischung aus Rap und harmonischen Chören. Ungefähr 11.000 Personen kamen an den Strand La Concha zu den Konzerten von Juan Perro, Alex Cuba, Dervish und Domu Afrika Dub Squad. Die Organisation des Festivals – für das der Cabildo von Fuerteventura zuständig ist – geht davon aus, dass an diesem Wochenende ungefähr 20.000 Personen kamen. Der Künstler der Nacht war Alex Cuba, der das Publikum am Strand von El Cotillo mit einem persönlichen Repertoire hypnotisierte. Er zeigte Können, war dynamisch und dem Publikum nah; auf diese Weise bewies er, weshalb er den Grammy für den besten neuen Künstler 2010 bekam. Dieser Künstler – der aus einem Dorf bei Havanna kommt, in Kanada lebt und sich heute mit der Avantgarde der zeitgenössischen lateinamerikanischen Musik identifiziert – bewies bei seinem Auftritt, dass er über Energie, Musikalität und Kreativität verfügt. Vor allem die Seele seiner Gitarre schaffte es, das Publikum am Strand zum Tanzen zu bringen. Er wurde dabei nur von Max Sennit und David Gabin (Bass und Schlagzeug) begleitet. Juan Perro zeigte seine Berufung zum engagierten Minnesänger und vielseitigen Musiker. Zusammen mit einer tollen Band, seinem alter ego Santiago Auserón, machte er eine tolle Show. Er begann mit

einem pausierten und einem tiefsinnigen Jazz-Stil und machte dann mit kubanischem Son und lateinamerikanischen Rhythmen weiter. Juan Perro bewegte sich auf der Bühne frei und zeigte seinen eigenen Stil. Er begeisterte das Publikum mit seiner Improvisation und mit seiner Poetik. Die Iren Dervish sorgten mit ihrer traditionellen keltischen Musik - zu der man tanzen kann - für eine ethnische Note. Cathy Jordan führte mit ihrer starken und gleichzeitig melodischen Stimme eine Gruppe von erfahrenen Musikern an, die neben Flöte und Geige auch exotische Instrumente spielten wie Mandola, Bouzouki und Bodhram, das irische Instrument schlechthin.

Die Nacht begann mit den kapverdischen Domu Afrika Dub Squad, die besonderen und melodischen Reggae machen. Bei ihrer Aufführung sorgte vor allem die Stimme von Edson Oliviera für Aufsehen. Es ist eine überraschende Gruppe, die die ursprüngliche Reggae-Musik der Kapverden bekannt machen möchte und bewies, dass dieser Stil lebendig ist. “Fuerteventura en Música“, ein multikulturelles Event, das zur Integration beiträgt und vom Fuerteventura zur Förderung des Respekts für die Umwelt und für die Mitmenschen organisiert wird, fand zum achten Mal statt und vereinte ein Publikum verschiedener Generationen.

Empieza el espectáculo del Mundial con los mejores riders de la modalidad de Freestyle FMHOY - Fuerteventura La playa de La Barca, en el municipio de Pájara, se convierte desde el sábado 23 de julio al 6 de agosto en epicentro internacional del windsurfing y del kiteborading, con la principales estrellas del planeta de ambos deportes en liza La Carpa de Noche del Mundial se convierte además en el centro de ocio para visitantes y público local en Fuerteventura, con conciertos y actuaciones diarias La isla de Fuerteventura se convierte en centro de atención internacional del windsurf y del kiteborading desde el sábado 23 de julio al 6 de agosto con motivo del Mundial de ambos deportes. La cita majorera abrirá su vigésimo sexta edición con la modalidad de Freestyle, donde casi medio centenar de riders de primerísimo nivel lucharán por el título, tanto a nivel masculino como femenino, en la playa de La Barca en la zona de Sotavento, en Jandía, en el municipio de Pájara. El evento majorero de Freestyle reúne a los primeros clasificados del ránking 2011, caso de Steven Van Broeckhoven (líder), Kiri Thode (segundo) y Gollito Estredo, actual campeón del mundo. A nivel femenino destacar a Sarah-Quita Offringa y Yoli de Brenda. La modalidad de Slalom tomará el relevo en el Mundial de Fuerteventura de la PWA. Será del 27 al 1 de agosto, con riders contrastados como Bjorn ya de La Barca en la jornada del vienes 22 de julio. Numeroso público, nacional y extranjero, se congregó en la Carpa de Día, donde los competidores de Freestyle formalizaron su inscripción y realizaron sus primeros entrenamientos de cara al inminente inicio de la competición, que diariamente se desarrollará a partir de las 10.00 horas. LA CARPA DE NOCHE La inauguración oficial del campeonato tuvo lugar el viernes 22 de julio por la noche (22:00 horas), en la Carpa de Noche del Mundial (también en la playa de La Barca, en Sotavento, y con la presencia de las

Dunkerbeck, Michah Buzanis, Jimmy Díaz o Sylvain Moussilmani, entre otros. El día 2 de agosto es la fecha señalada para el debut del Mundial de la PKRA de Kitebording, deporte que tomará el protagonismo hasta el 6 de agosto. La campeona del mundo, Gisela Pulido, será de nuevo una de las principales atracciones de esta atractivo y espectacular deporte, que en esta ocasión se centra en la modalidad de Freestyle. La temporada de caza en Fuerteventura comenzará el 14 de agosto FMHOY - Fuerteventura La temporada de caza en la isla de Fuerteventura dará comienzo el 14 de agosto, según informó a principios de verano la Consejería de Medio Ambiente y Ordenación Territorial del Gobierno de Canarias. En la presentación, el propio consejero de Deportes y Caza del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Antonio Mesa, indicó que “el contenido final de la orden se ajusta a lo que se trató en el Consejo Insular de Caza de Fuerteventura, buscando compatibilizar las fechas de apertura con las distintas islas y atender a la situación de las especies cinegéticas”. Períodos y días hábiles Para esta temporada, las especies autorizadas son la perdiz moruna, el conejo, la paloma bravía, la ardilla moruna y los animales asilvestrados. Los períodos y días hábiles establecidos por categoría son los siguientes:

- El conejo, la ardilla moruna y los animales asilvestrados, con perro de pelo y hurón los domingos, desde el 14 de agosto hasta el 30 de octubre. Además, se incluye tanto el 12 de octubre como el 1 de noviembre. - La perdiz moruna, la paloma bravía, la ardilla moruna y los animales asilvestrados con perro de pluma y escopeta, los domingos desde el 18 de septiembre hasta el 30 de octubre. Se incluyen los días 12, 13, 20 y 27 de octubre y el 1 de noviembre. Los días hábiles para cazar serán los domingos, los tres últimos jueves de octubre, el 12 de octubre y el 1 de noviembre, comprendidos dentro de los períodos establecidos, para cada tipo de modalidad de caza. Condiciones y limitaciones Respecto a las restricciones, se establece la prohibición de cazar con ciertas condiciones en las superficies agrícolas y forestales como viñedos (desde la floración hasta la recogida del fruto), cultivos hortícolas (mientras estén en cultivo), frutales (desde la floración hasta la recogida del fruto) y montes recientemente poblados (si la altura media de las plantas no supera los 40 centímetros). En cuanto a los espacios naturales protegidos de la comunidad canaria, queda prohibido cazar en los Parques Nacionales, en las Reservas Naturales, así como en las zonas de exclusión y de uso restringido establecidas por los planes y normas de los espacios naturales protegidos. En el caso de Fuerteventura, se prohíbe la práctica de la caza en la Madre de Agua y las reservas biológicas de Lajares, Laguna de Testuaje, Istmo de Jandía y Castillo de Lara. Tampoco está permitida la caza en los parques naturales de las

Dunas de Corralejo y la Isla de Lobos. A estas zonas se suman los campos de entrenamiento, salvo los destinados a perros perdiceros, donde sí se puede practicar la caza. Por último, sobre las condiciones del uso del hurón y de los perros, se recogen las siguientes normas: - Se permite un máximo de dos hurones por cazador y seis por cuadrilla con licencia de clase C. - Se autoriza un máximo de cuatro perros por cazador y diez por cuadrilla. Queda prohibido, sin embargo, que los cazadores cacen de manera conjunta con perros podencos y de pluma. En cada caso, y en función de la modalidad, deberán apostar por el uso exclusivo de un tipo de perro u otro. Las cuadrillas pueden estar formadas por entre tres y cinco cazadores. Para cada cazador se establece un máximo de cinco piezas de conejos o perdices morunas y veinte palomas bravías por día. Por cuadrilla y día los máximos son veinte piezas entre perdices morunas o conejos y treinta y cinco palomas bravías. No se define un límite en la caza de ardillas y de animales asilvestrados. ¿Quieres más detalles? Hunting season in Fuerteventura will start on 14th August FMHOY - Fuerteventura Hunting season on the island of Fuerteventura will start on 14th August, as per the instructions of the Environment and Territorial Planning Council of the Canarian Government. In the presentation, Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s Sports and Hunting Councillor himself, Antonio Mesa, indicated that “the final content of the order is conform to what was discussed with Fuerteventura’s Hunting Council, looking for compatible opening dates between the different islands and taking care of the situation of the hunted species”. Periods and opening days For this season, the authorised species are the Barbary Partridge, the Rabbit, the Rock Pigeon, the Barbary Ground Squirrel and wild animals. Periods and working days established by category are as follows: - Rabbits, Barbary Ground Squirrel and wild animals, with hair hunting dogs and ferrets on Sundays from 14th August until 30th October. 12th October and 1st November are also included. - The Barbary Partridge, Rock Pigeon and wild animals with feather hunting dogs and shotguns on Sundays from 18th September until 30th October. Are also included: 12th, 13th, 20th and 27th October and 1st November. The open hunting days will be on Sundays, the last three Thursdays of October, 12th October and 1st November, as per the established periods according to the type of hunting. Conditions and limitations As for restrictions, it has been established that it is forbidden to hunt under certain circumstances on some farm land and forests such as vineyards (from the flowering stage until the harvest), horticulture (while is being cultivated), fruit trees (from the flowering stage until the harvest) and areas recently populated (if the average height of plants does not exceed 40 centimetres). As for protected natural spaces in the Canaries: it is forbidden to hunt in National Parks, in Natural Reserves as well as in areas of exclusion and of restricted use as established by the plans and norms of natural protected spaces. The groups can consist of between three and five hunters. Each hunter can kill a maximum of five pieces between Rabbits, Barbary Partridges and twenty Rock Pigeons per day. For each group per day this represents a maximum of twenty pieces between Barbary Partridges or rabbits and thirty five Rock Pigeons. August FMHOY - Fuerteventura Das Amt für Umwelt und Raumordnung der Regierung der Kanaren informierte Anfang des Sommers darüber, dass die Jagdsaison auf der Insel Fuerteventura am 14. August beginnt. Bei der Präsentation erklärte der Beauftragte für Jagd und Sport des Cabildo von Fuerteventura, Antonio Mesa: „Die Verordnung passt sich an das an, was der Inselrat für Jagd von Fuerteventura tat, um die Eröffnungstermin der verschiedenen Inseln auf einander abzustimmen und sich um die Lage des Wildes zu kümmern, das gejagt wird”. Zugelassene Zeitspannen und Tage In dieser Saison sind folgende Tiere genehmigt: das Felsenhuhn, der Hase, die Felsentaube, das Atlashörnchen und verwilderte Tiere. Die für die verschiedenen Kategorien festgesetzten Zeitspannen und Tage sind folgende: - Der Hase, das Atlashörnchen und die verwilderten Tiere mit Hund und Frettchen sonntags vom 14. August bis zum 30. Oktober. Außerdem am 12. Oktober und am 1. November. - Das Felsenhuhn, die Felsentaube, das Atlashörnchen und verwilderte Tiere mit Hund und Gewehr, sonntags vom 18. September bis zum 30. Oktober. Außerdem an den Tagen 12., 13., 20. und 27. Oktober und am 1. Novembe für jede Art der Jagd. Bedingungen und Einschränkungen Es gibt verschiedene Einschränkungen: Es ist verboten, auf bestimmten Feldern und Waldstücken zu

jagen; zu diesen gehören Weinberge (von der Blüte bis zur Ernte der Früchte), Gemüsefelder (Während diese bebaut sind), Obstplantagen (von der Blüte bis zur Ernte der Frucht) und kürzlich bepflanzte Berge (wenn die durchschnittliche Höhe der Pflanzen niedriger als 40 Zentimeter ist). Was die geschützten Naturräume der Kanaren betrifft, ist es verboten, in Nationalparks und Naturschutzgebieten zu jagen sowie in Gegenden, in denen die Jagd von den Vorschriften der Naturschutzgebiete verboten ist. Auf Fuerteventura ist die Jagd in Madre de Agua und in den biologischen Naturschutzgebieten von Lajares, Laguna de Testuaje, Istmo de Jandía und Castillo de Lara verboten sowie in den Naturparks der Dünen von Corralejo und auf dem Eiland Lobos sowie auf den Übungsfeldern. Zum Schluss sollen noch folgende Vorschriften über den Einsatz von Frettchen und Hunden erwähnt werden: - Es sind zwei Frettchen pro Jäger und sechs pro Mannschaft mit Jagdschein der Klasse C erlaubt.

- Es sind maximal vier Hunde pro Jäger und zehn pro Mannschaft erlaubt. Es ist jedoch verboten, dass die Jäger gleichzeitig mit verschiedenen Jagdhund-Arten (Podenco oder Perro de Pluma) jagen. Sie dürfen immer nur eine Art von Jugdhunden einsetzen. Die Mannschaften können aus drei bis fünf Jägern bestehen. Jeder Jäger darf maximal fünf Hasen oder Felshühner und zwanzig Felsentauben am Tag erlegen. Jede Mannschaft darf pro Tag höchstens zwanzig Felshühner oder Hasen und fünfunddreißig Felsentauben jagen. Für die Jagd von Atlashörnchen und verwilderten Tieren gibt es keine Begrenzung. FMHOY - Fuerteventura El Consorcio e Abastecimiento de Aguas a Fuerteventura (CAAF) celebró recientemente la reunión de su Junta en sesión extraordinaria para la toma de posesión de los nuevos miembros. De esta forma, la Junta quedará integrada por el presidente del Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, en calidad de presidente del CAAF, y el vicepresidente del Cabildo, Blas Acosta, como vicepresidente del CAAF. Junto a ellos un representante de cada ayuntamiento y un representante del personal laboral y funcionario del CAAF. Objetivos El presidente, Mario Cabrera, agradeció la presencia de todos los representantes municipales y trazó como principales objetivos del plan de trabajo del CAAF para los próximos años “extender el servicio a más puntos de la isla y en mejores condiciones, garantizar el carácter público de la empresa y seguir desarrollando proyectos de producción asociada a energías renovables. Mario Cabrera señaló que ya se ha hablado con el

ayuntamiento de Pájara para obtener la cesión del suelo necesario de forma que en el entorno de Matas Blancas pueda instalarse una nueva planta desaladora. El presidente del CAAF relacionó este objetivo con asegurar el carácter público del CAAF y con las obras que ya están adjudicadas para contar con una nueva red de distribución de agua por el centro de la isla, de más de 70 kilómetros de longitud; y con la ampliación de la producción de la planta del CAAF en Puerto del Rosario en un 30%, “dispondremos de más agua y de una nueva red que nos permitirá llegar a más sitios y ofrecer alternativas para los casos en los que puedan existir averías en la red”, señaló. El CAAF cuenta con unos 30.000 clientes distribuidos por toda la Isla, y en sus tres plantas de producción (Corralejo, Gran Tarajal y Puerto del Rosario,) genera un caudal medio de unos 21.500 metros cúbicos por hora (m.³/h.), aunque la capacidad máxima de producción de esta entidad de unos 31.000 m.³/h.

The Water Consortium and Supply of Fuerteventura (CAAF) recently celebrated their Board meeting in an extraordinary session for the nomination of new Members. The Board will therefore include the Cabildo’s President, Mario Cabrera, as the president of the CAAF, and the vice-president of the Cabildo, Blas Acosta, as vice-president of the CAAF. A representative of each Ayuntamiento and of the working staff of the CAAF will also be included. Objectives The president, Mario Cabrera, thanked all the municipal representatives for being present and outlined the main objectives of the working plan of the CAAF for the next few years “to extend the service to more areas on the island and improve the conditions, guarantee the public character of the company and keep on developing production projects associated to renewable energies. Mario Cabrera indicated that they already spoke

with Pájara’s ayuntamiento in order to obtain the grounds necessary in order to install a new developing plant in the area of Matas Blancas. The president of the CAAF linked this objective with the assurance of a public service of the CAAF and with the projects that are already approved in order to create a new 70 kilometre long water distribution network in the centre of the island; with the 30% production increase of the CAAF plant in Puerto del Rosario, “we will have more water and a new network that will allow us to reach more sites and offer alternatives to those who may suffer from breakdowns in the network”, he added. Konstituierung des neuen Vorstandes des Wasserkonsortiums FMHOY - Fuerteventura Das Wasserkonsortium von (CAAF) hielt kürzlich eine Sondersitzung des Vorstandes ab, in der die neuen Mitglieder ihre Ämter antraten. Zu dem Vorstand gehören der Präsident des Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, als Vorsitzender der CAAF , und der stellvertretende Präsident des Cabildo, Blas Acosta, als stellvertretender Vorsitzende des CAAF, außerdem ein Vertreter jeder Gemeinde und ein Vertreter der Arbeitnehmer und Funktionäre des CAAF. Ziele Der Präsident, Mario Cabrera, bedankte sich bei den Vertretern aller Gemeinden und beschrieb die Hauptziele des Arbeitsplans des CAAF für die nä-

chsten Jahre: „Die Leistungen mehr Orten der Insel zukommen zu lassen; die Bedingungen verbessern; zu gewährleisten, dass das Unternehmen öffentlich bleibt; weiterhin Projekte zu entwickeln, die mit erneuerbaren Energien verbunden sind. Canarias se consolida como referente en ganadería caprina para los países de África Occidental FMHOY - Fuerteventura El ICIA acogía el pasado mes de julio, una jornada impartida por expertos senegaleses y canarios, enmarcada en el Proyecto Ganáfrica, dirigido a fomentar la transferencia de conocimientos entre el continente y las islas para la autosuficiencia ganadera Investigadores, ganaderos y técnicos senegaleses concluyeron el programa de formación en producción de caprino que se desarrolló en las islas. Participaron además el Instituto Canario de Investigaciones Agrarias (ICIA) como Jefe de Filas, el Cabildo de Tenerife, y el Grupo Tragsa, y como representantes senegaleses, la Universidad de Thiès, el Ministerio de Ganadería, la Cooperativa de Mbale y pastores y ganaderos de la etnia “peul”. El grupo ha participado en este tiempo en múltiples actividades teóricas y prácticas en la Finca El Pico, gestionada por la Unidad de Producción Animal, Pastos y Forrajes del ICIA, y en la explotación familiar Granja “Cho Lucas” en Arico, y ha contado con las instalaciones de la Escuela de Capacitación Agraria de Tacoronte para su alojamiento, así como con el soporte técnico del Servicio de Ganadería del Cabildo de Tenerife. A través de su participación en este tipo de iniciativas, Canarias se consolida como un referente en ganado caprino para los países africanos debido en parte a la proximidad geográfica y a las sólidas relaciones de cooperación con el continente. En este sentido Senegal se afianza como un país prioritario para la cooperación canaria en África, donde se han

impulsado ya más de ochenta proyectos con los que se trata de dar cobertura a las necesidades básicas de la población y a través de los cuales se busca fomentar el desarrollo de la actividad agraria y pesquera, la formación y cualificación de los adultos, o la incorporación de la mujer al mundo laboral, entre otros. El ganado caprino posee un papel secundario en la economía senegalesa donde el vacuno, seguido del ovino, ocupa un lugar preponderante. Sin embargo la cabra está despertando el interés de las instituciones senegalesas, las cuales apuestan por fomentar su desarrollo mediante la importación próximamente de lotes de ganado selecto procedente de Fuerteventura. Esta acción permitirá poner en marcha un programa de mejora, que se fundamenta en la introducción de razas más productivas y diversas medidas dirigidas a lograr una mejora de la productividad de los animales. Otro de los objetivos de los técnicos y ganaderos senegaleses en avanzar en la producción láctea, atendiendo a la demanda de la población local que basa su alimentación en las elaboraciones tradicionales de la leche ácida-lait caillé-o grasa ácida-houil caillé-. Jornada en el ICIA El Instituto Canario de Investigaciones Agrarias (ICIA) acogió el pasado mes de julio, una jornada técnica sobre producción caprina enmarcada en el Proyecto GANÁFRICA, dirigido a fomentar la transferencia de conocimientos entre el continente y las

islas para la autosuficiencia ganadera. En el encuentro, abierto al público interesado en la materia, se analizaron las características de la producción caprina de uno y otro lugar, se expusieron los trabajos que se han realizado sobre identificación de quesos canarios y las posibilidades de aplicación en Senegal, así como las investigaciones sobre alimentación de ganado caprino en el archipiélago, a partir de forrajes y subproductos de interés para Senegal. I+D+i Este proyecto formativo responde al objetivo de la Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Aguas de fomentar la I+D+i en el ámbito agrario y consolidar el prestigio de los múltiples trabajos que se vienen desarrollando en el ámbito académico y científico en las islas, los cuales establecen cauces para la exportación de nuestro caprino y la cooperación internacional con países en vía de desarrollo. Da continuidad también al compromiso adquirido por el ICIA para fomentar el intercambio científico y difundir sus conocimientos entre profesionales e investigadores de todo el mundo y que, a través de la Unidad de Producción Animal, Pastos y Forrajes del Instituto, de gran reconocimiento internacional, ha puesto en marcha numerosas experiencias dirigidas a formar en esta disciplina a estudiantes y profesionales de países americanos y africanos.

Forscher, Viehzüchter und Techniker aus Senegal schlossen ein auf den Inseln entwickeltes Ausbildungsprogramm für die Ziegenproduktion ab. Außerdem nahmen an dem Treffen das kanarische Institut für landwirtschaftliche Forschung (ICIA), der Cabildo von Teneriffa und Tragsa teil sowie senegalesische Vertreter u.a. die Universität von Thiès, das Ministerium für Viehzucht, die Kooperative Mbale sowie

Hirten und Viehzüchter der Ethnie “Peul” gehören. Die Gruppe hat in dieser Zeit an zahlreichen theoretischen und praktischen Aktivitäten mitgewirkt, die auf der Finca El Pico, die von der „Abteilung für Tierproduktion und Futter“ des ICIA verwaltetet wird, und auf der Familienfarm „Cho Lucas” in Arico stattfanden. Außerdem konnten die Räumlichkeiten der Schule für landwirtschaftliche Ausbildung in Tacoronte für die Beherbergung der Teilnehmer genutzt werden. Der Dienst für Landwirtschaft des Cabildo von Teneriffa stand für die technische Unterstützung zur Verfügung. Durch die Teilnahme an derartigen Initiativen werden die Kanaren für die afrikanischen Länder zum Bezugspunkt im Bereich der Ziegenzucht. Dies liegt an der geographischen Nähe und an der regelmäßi-

gen Kooperation mit diesem Kontinent. Senegal ist ein prioritäres Land für die Kooperation der Kanaren mit Afrika, in dem mehr als achtzig Projekte vorangetrieben wurden, um die Grundbedürfnisse der Bevölkerung abzudecken und die Entwicklung der Landwirtschaft und der Fischerei, die Weiterbildung und Ausbildung von Erwachsenen, die Integration der Frau in den Arbeitsmarkt usw. zu fördern. In der senegalesischen Wirtschaft, in der Kühe und Schafe dominieren, ist die Ziegenzucht zweitrangig. Aber die senegalesischen Institutionen sind immer mehr an Ziegen interessiert und versuchen, die Ziegenzucht durch den Import von Ziegen aus Fuerteventura zu fördern. Mit dieser Maßnahme wird es möglich, ein Entwicklungsprogramm zu verbreiten,

Inspectors, livestock farmers and technicians from Senegal took part in the training programme on goat breeding developed in the islands. The programme also included the participation of the Canarian Institute of Agricultural Investigations (ICIA) as organisers, the Cabildo of Tenerife, and the Tragsa Group, and representing Senegal: the University of Thiès, the Livestock Ministry, the Cooperative from Mbale and shepherds and livestock farmers from the “peul” ethnic group. The group participated in multiple theoretical and practical activities in Finca El Pico, managed by the Animal Production Unit, Pastos and Forrages (Pastures and Fodders) from the ICIA and at the family farm called “Cho Lucas” in Arico. Their accommodation was organised at the “Escuela de Capacitación Agraria de Tacoronte” school and technical support was handled by the Livestock Service of Tenerife’s Cabildo. Through their participation in this type of initiatives, the Canaries have become a reference in goat livestock for African countries due in part to their geographical proximity and to the strong cooperation relations with the continent. Senegal is becoming a leader in the Canarian cooperation in Africa, where over eighty projects were launched and aimed at covering the basic necessities of the population by promoting the development of agricultural and fishing activities, training and qualifications for adults, or the incorporation of women in the working environment, to name a few. The goat livestock has a secondary role in the economy of Senegal where bovine and sheep livestock are preponderant. However, goats are starting to get interest from institutions in Senegal that are investing in the import of selected livestock from Fuerteventura in order to promote their development. This initiative will allow for an improvement programme to be launched. This programme is based on the introduction of more productive breeds and various measures to improve the productivity of those animals. Another objective of Senegalese technicians and livestock farmers is to improve the milk production

in order to cover the demand of the local population that bases its traditional dishes on acid-lait caillé - or fat acide-houil caillé-. A day at the ICIA The Canarian Institute of Agricultural Investigations (ICIA) organised in July a technical open day about goat livestock production within the GANAFRICA Project, aimed at promoting the transfer of knowledge between the continent and the islands for livestock self-sufficiency. During the encounter, which was open to the public, the characteristics of goat livestock production were analysed in one location then in the other. The initiatives carried out on various Canarian cheeses were presented as well as the possibilities of their transfer in Senegal, as well as investigations on goat livestock food in the archipelago based on fodder and sub-products which are interesting for Senegal.

Research and Development This training programme responds to the objective of the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Water Council to promote Research and Development in the agriculture field and consolidate the prestige of the many occupations that are being developed in the academic and scientific fields on the islands. Those are creating relations for the export of the island’s goat livestock and the international cooperation with developing countries. This comes as a continuity to the compromise of the ICIA to promote scientific exchanges and share knowledge between professionals and investigators all over the world, which through the Animal, Pasture and Forage Production Unit of the Institute, which has been internationally recognised, has initiated many experiences aimed at promoting this discipline to students and professionals in American and African countries.

zwischen dem Kontinent und den Inseln zu fördern und damit die Selbstversorgung durch die Viehzucht zu verbessern. Bei dem für das interessierte Publikum offenen Treffen wurde die Ziegenproduktion an den beiden Standorten untersucht. Außerdem wurden die Ergebnisse von Untersuchungen über die mögliche Anwendung der Techniken der kanarischen Käseproduktion in Senegal und über die Ernährung der Ziegen im Archipel mit Futter und Subprodukten, die auch für Senegal interessant sein könnten, dargelegt. Forschung, Entwicklung und Erneuerung Das Amt für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht, Fischerei und Wasser beabsichtigt, mit diesem Projekt die Forschung, die Entwicklung und die Erneuerung im

Bereich der Landwirtschaft zu fördern und die Anerkennung der zahlreichen Arbeiten zu verbessern, die von Akademikern und Wissenschaftlern auf den Inseln durchgeführt werden und die Grundlagen für den Export unserer Ziegen und die internationale Kooperation mit Entwicklungsländern bestimmen. Für Kontinuität sorgt unter anderem die Tatsache, dass das ICIA sich verpflichtet hat, den wissenschaftlichen Austausch zu fördern und dieses Wissen an Fachleute und Wissenschaftler der ganzen Welt zu verbreiten. Außerdem hat es über die „Abteilung für Tierproduktion und Futter” des international anerkannten Instituts zahlreiche Projekte gegründet, um Studenten und Fachleute aus Amerika und aus Afrika in diesem Fachbereich auszubilden.

Mujeres con iniciativa que han superado el reto necesario que supone crear pequeñas y grandes empresas dentro del mundo rural de Fuerteventura, al mismo tiempo que ser madres, amas de casa, etc. Hoy queremos rendir un pequeño homenaje a dos de ellas, cada una situada en los extremos de la experiencia: la experta y la que comienza (aunque sabemos que hay muchas más), y les hemos pedido que nos cuenten sus distintas experiencias y motivaciones, para hacerse un sitio en este sector laboral.

Juana Castillo Ravelo es ganadera de cabaña caprina y dirige su pequeña fábrica de quesos casi artesanales. Antes de llegar a Giniginamar, vemos la cerca donde su rebaño reposa, junto a las instalaciones de su quesería y es allí mismo donde nos hemos citado con ella, para ver sus instalaciones y degustar sus quesos. Cuéntenos cómo y cuándo surgió la idea de este negocio. De joven yo no me sentía nada atraída por el ganado a pesar de que mi padre era carnicero, y para mí era habitual tener cerca animales de distintos tipos; pero al casarme mi marido tenía la ilusión

de dedicarse al ganado y de esta forma me fui involucrando. Con el paso del tiempo yo he seguido al frente de todo ello. ¿Siempre estuvo aquí instalada? No, yo soy de Gran Tarajal y allí vivía cuando comencé con mis primeras cabritas, que pastaban por la

montaña y luego las recogía en un pequeño corralito. Fui creciendo y entonces tuve que desplazarme para tener el espacio suficiente para ellas.. Tienen que haber sido duros los comienzos... Sí, he trabajado noche y día pues mi meta era poder dar a mis tres hijos los estudios y la preparación que yo deseaba para ellos y mi única entrada económica provenía de este trabajo. Cuanto más iba creciendo la ganadería el trabajo era mayor y al poco tiempo de comenzar ya tenía unas 200 cabras. No obstante a mí me gusta el trabajo, me sirve para concentrarme, y me relaja al mismo tiempo. ¿Y en la actualidad cuantas son? Unas 1900, pero han pasado más de 30 años desde aquellas 200 primeras. ¿En la actualidad cuenta con ayuda para semejante rebaño? Sí, mi hijo lleva un tiempo conmigo y además tenemos personal contratado. ¿Cómo comercializa su producción de quesos? Siempre he tenido un mayorista de Gran Canaria que se llevaba toda la producción y la distribuía y además a la quesería Valsequillo le estoy vendiendo desde hace más de 20 años. Aparte tengo mi propia marca con denominación de origen que es Cañada de Agando y así etiqueto los quesos que yo vendo directamente. ¿Dónde se pueden adquirir los quesos de su marca?

Aquí, en la propia fábrica los vendemos al público y también, si nos solicitan, alguna cabra o cabrito. ¿Sus quesos están realizados solo con leche de cabra? Sí, exclusivamente y además de mis propias cabras. ¿Los cuidados de este ganado son muy complejos? Cuidamos mucho la alimentación, mis cabras pastan mucho, lo que da un sabor muy especial al queso. Llevamos todos los controles veterinarios que son requeridos por Sanidad. Contamos con la veterinaria de la asociación ADS, que lleva el control de vacunas y a la que acudimos, si algún animal se nos enferma. Este año tuvimos un problema con las lluvias tan fuertes que vivimos. Se nos rompieron las cañerías y se junto el agua que las cabras beben del aljibe, con agua mala, con lodo y sin cloro. Esto me produjo la paralización de la producción por bastante tiempo y muchas cabras enfermaron, llegando a morir muchas de ellas. Gracias a la ayuda del veterinario José Luis García, que estuvo pendiente noche y día, conseguimos resolver la situación y sanear el ganado de nuevo. Fue una etapa muy dura. Juana cómo ve el futuro de su empresa, ¿alguien seguirá la tradición? Espero que mi hijo siga al frente, cuando yo no pueda. Me daría mucha pena que tanto trabajo se

¿Qué especies tiene plantadas en su finca? He plantado hasta doce especies de lechugas distintas, acelgas, colinabos, colirrabanos, tomates de verano, maíz, pimientos de padrón, calabazas, sandias y melones.

con Isabel de Portugal. Nos dice que fueron muchos los colonos de origen portugués que llegaron a la isla trayendo sus costumbres y los avances de su tierra. Al parecer se agruparon en pueblos a lo largo de la isla y desde ellos dejaron su impronta, que permanece hasta nuestro días, tanto en la agricultura como en la arquitectura local. Es neófita en el mundo de la agricultura, aunque tiene a su nombre una magnifica finca en Vallebrón, desde hace muchos años, a la que poco a poco va consiguiendo transformar en un terreno productivo. Dolores ¿desde cuando está dedicada a preparar la tierra y organizar su finca? Hace ya tres años, cuando me quedé viuda, porque a mi marido no le llamaba la atención el campo. Esta tierra la tengo desde mucho antes, pero es a partir del año 86 cuando comienzo a hacer cosas en la finca. Pero es en estos tres años, cuando me he dedicado de lleno. He ido haciendo una cata de agua, poniéndola electricidad, riego y también mi casita de aperos. Además de tomar todo tipo de cursos para conocer más la agricultura, he aprendido a hacer compost, he practicado directamente sembrando y recolectando diversas especies, casi en plan experimental, dado que esta zona tiene un clima bastante más frio y húmedo que en el resto de la isla.

También he aplanado la tierra de las gavias y he movido tierra para crear otras. He plantado árboles frutales, palmeras y espero realizar un bonito jardín alrededor de la casita. Mi ilusión es ver esta finca verde, en poco tiempo. ¿Y todo este trabajo sola? No, suelo contratar a algún trabajador que me ayude. ¿Cómo surge la idea de comenzar en este sector, tenía experiencia previa? Siempre tuve dentro el gusanillo de la agricultura. Desde niña, cuando venía a visitar a mi abuela, disfrutaba mucho con una azada viejita que ella guardaba para mí y mi hermana, ayudándola en sus labores. ¿Pero durante estos años anteriores, cuál era su dedicación? Estudié bellas artes en Tenerife y tuve la suerte de tener unos maestros magníficos. Yo me especialicé en pintura y a ello me he dedicado principalmente, aunque a partir de mi matrimonio ser ama de casa y madre han ocupado casi todo mi tiempo. Sorprende el salto enorme que supone pasar de pintora a agricultora... Pues es lo que más me motiva en este momento, ver crecer y embellecerse mi finca y lo voy consiguiendo, con mucho sacrificio y quitándome otros caprichos, para poder invertir en ella.

“Enterprising women in agriculture and livestock farming on the island” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Women have been conquering rural jobs that used to been considered exclusively as men’s jobs. Women with initiative have taken over the challenge that represents creating small or large businesses in Fuerteventura’s rural environment, as well as being mothers, housewives, etc. Today we have decided to pay homage to two of them, each one located at the extremes of that experience: the expert and the beginner (although we know that there are many more of them), and we have asked them to share their experiences and motivations to make a difference in this type of industry.

Juana Castilla Ravelo is a goat livestock farmer and runs her small cheese farm where cheeses are almost handmade. Before getting to Giniginamar, we saw the area where her herd is kept, close to her cheese farm buildings and this is where we met with her to check out her farm and sample her cheeses. Tell us how you got the idea for this business. From a very young age I felt that nothing interested me beside livestock farming. My father was a butcher and I was used to seeing animals of all kinds; but when I got married, my husband wanted to dedicate himself to breeding livestock and I got more and more involved. As time went by I started running it all. Was your farm always this way? No, I come from Gran Tarajal and this is where I lived when I started with my first few goats that used to graze in the mountain and later I used to keep them in a small corral. It all started increasing in size and I had to move in order to have enough space for them… It must have been difficult at the beginning... Yes, I used to work night and day as I was aiming to be able to finance my three children’s studies and provide them with a good start in life and my income came solely from this job. As the farm size increased, so did the amount of work and shortly after starting

I already had about 200 goats. However, I like working: it helps me concentrate and relaxes me at the same time. And how many goats do you have now? About 1900, but 30 years have gone by since I started with my first 200 goats. Nowadays, do you have help to take care of such a herd? Yes, my son has been working with me for a while

and I also have employees. How are your cheeses commercialised? I have always had a wholesaler in Gran Tarajal who takes the whole production and distributes it and I have also been selling to the Valsequillo cheese factory for over twenty years. Apart from that I also have my own brand with denomination of origin which is Cañada de Agando and I therefore label and sell those cheeses direct. Where can we buy your cheeses? Here, we also sell to the public from the farm itself and we can also sell goats or kids. Are your cheeses made with goat milk only? Yes, exclusively and only with my own goats’ milk. It is very complicated to take care of this type of livestock? We have to take great care of their food, my goats graze a lot, which gives a very special flavour to the cheese. We have regular veterinary check ups which are required by Health and Safety. We deal with the ADS association veterinarian, who controls the jabs and who we call if an animal gets ill. This year we had a problem because of the heavy rain that we had to endure. The pipes broke and the goats’ drinking water got mixed with dirty water, with mud and without chlorine. This means that the production was paralysed for quite a while and many goats got ill, many of them even died. Thanks to the help from the veterinarian José Luis García, who was on call night and day, we managed to resolve the situation and clean up the herd. It was a very tough stage. Juana, how do you picture the future of your business? Will someone carry on the tradition? I hope that my son will continue when I won’t be able to carry on. It would really sadden me if so much work went to waste.

Dolores Rodríguez Rodríguez, called Lola by people close to her, comes from a long line of farmers in her family on her father’s side. She tells us that her ancestors came from Madeira and arrived on the island when Carlos V got married with Isabel de Portugal. She tells us that many settlers came from Portugal and brought their customs and their homeland’s progress on the island. It seems that they regrouped in villages all over the island and left their mark which still remains nowadays both in the agriculture and in the local architecture. She is new to the world of agriculture, although she has owned a beautiful farm in Vallebrón for many years, which she is slowly transforming into a productive area. Dolores, how long have you dedicated yourself to working the land and organising your farm? It has been three years already, since I got widowed, because my husband was not interested in the land. I have had this land for a very long time, but it was from 1986 onwards that I started taking care of the farm. But I have been fully dedicating myself to it for the past three years. I have installed a water-well, electricity, irrigation and a tool shed. In addition I have been following all kinds of courses to learn more about agriculture. I have learned how to make compost, I have been sowing myself and harvesting various species, which is almost on an experimental level, because this areas’ climate is colder and more humid than the rest of the island. What types of plants do you grow in your farm? I have planted twelve different species of lettuce, chard, swede, summer tomatoes, corn, pimientos de padron (spicy green peppers), pumpkins, water melons and melons. I have also flattened the earth in the “gavias” (raised field created to store water in arid areas) and moved earth to create others. I have planted fruit trees, palm trees and I hope to create a nice garden around my house. I am aiming to see this farm land become green very shortly.

Have you carried out all this work alone? No, I tend to hire someone to help me. How did you get the idea of starting in this area, did you already have experience? I have always had a thing for agriculture, since I was a child. When I used to come and visit my grandmother, I used to enjoy myself with an old hoe that she kept for me and my sister and we used to help her with her work. But before that, what did you do? I studied art in Tenerife and I was lucky enough

to have a fantastic teacher. I specialised in painting and dedicated myself to it mostly, although from the moment I got married, being a housewife and mother became my main occupations. It is surprising to think how big a jump it is to go from being a painter to a farmer. Well, this is what motivates me the most at present, to watch my farm grow and become more beautiful and I have had to make sacrifices in order to achieve it, putting aside other whims in order to invest everything in the farm.

Comienza en Guisguey la instalación de la red de riego con aguas depuradas FMHOY - Fuerteventura El Consejo Insular de Aguas de Fuerteventura ha comenzado la instalación de la red de canalización de aguas depuradas para uso agrícola en la localidad de Guisguey, que enlazará con La Herradura y la Estación Depuradora de Aguas Residuales de Puerto del Rosario. El proyecto de instalación de la red de transporte de aguas depuradas Barranco de La Herradura-Guisguey cuenta con una inversión de 970.000 euros a través de la empresa adjudicataria ‘Pérez Moreno SAU’. El proyecto cuenta con un plazo de ejecución de 8 meses y permitirá la instalación de una red de riego y un depósito regulador de 2.800 m3 en la zona conocida como Morro Triguero, a una cota de 222 metros de altura. Esta actuación incluye además la creación de un segundo ramal que conectará con el nuevo Depósito situado en La Calderetilla, infraestructura que cuenta en sí mismo con un proyecto diferenciado de 700.237 euros de inversión. Tanto la Red de Transporte La Herradura-Guisguey como el nuevo Depósito de La Calderetilla se integran en un mismo plan de trabajo, que tiene por objetivo aprovechar el agua depurada que se produce en la EDAR de Puerto del Rosario para una superficie de cultivo de en torno a las 72 hectáreas en lo que respecta a las cuencas de Guisguey y La Herradura. Una vez esté listo el depósito de La Calderetilla, con

8.250 m.³ de capacidad y ubicado a 369 metros de altura, se extenderá la distribución a la zona centro y sur de Fuerteventura. Ambas infraestructuras están relacionadas en el Plan Director para la reutilización de aguas residuales

depuradas, y permitiría aprovechar los alrededor de 2.000 m3 diarios que produce la EDAR de Puerto del Rosario para regar cultivos agrícolas en los que su uso esté autorizado (forrajeras, árboles, etc.).

“Unternehmerinnen in der Landwirtschaft FMHOY - Fuerteventura Die Frauen haben nach und nach die landwirtschaftlichen Arbeiten erobert, die früher als den Männern vorbehalten galten. Es sind tatkräftige Frauen, die die notwendige Herausforderung überwunden haben, die es mit sich bringt, kleine und mittlere Unternehmen in den ländlichen Gebieten von Fuerteventura zu gründen und gleichzeitig Mütter und Hausfrauen zu sein. Heute möchten wir - (obwohl wir wissen, dass es viele mehr gibt) - zwei dieser Frauen ehren, von denen jede sich in einer Extremsituation befindet: Die eine ist Expertin und die andere Anfängerin. Wir haben sie gebeten, uns von ihren Erfahrungen und Motivationen zu erzählen, um sich in diesem Sektor ihren Platz zu schaffen.

Juana Castillo Ravelo Juana Castillo Ravelo ist Ziegenzüchterin und leitet ihre kleine Fabrik für traditionell hergestellten Käse. Bevor wir in Giniginamar ankamen, sahen wir, wo sich ihre Herde neben der Käserei ausruht. Dort haben wir uns mit ihr getroffen, um ihre Installationen zu

besichtigen und ihren Käse zu probieren. Erzählen Sie uns bitte, wie Sie auf die Idee kamen, mit diesem Geschäft anzufangen. In meiner Jugend übte diese Tätigkeit überhaupt keinen Reiz auf mich aus, obwohl mein Vater Fleischer war und ich immer irgendwelche Tiere in meiner Nähe hatte. Aber dann heiratete ich, und mein Mann wollte sich der Viehzucht widmen; so kam es, dass ich auch mitgemacht habe. Im Laufe der Zeit begann ich, den

gesamten Betrieb zu leiten. Haben Sie immer hier gelebt? Nein, ich bin aus Gran Tarajal, dort lebte ich, als ich mit meinen ersten Zicklein angefangen habe, die im Gebirge weideten und dann kamen sie in meinen kleinen Corral kamen. Der Betrieb vergrößerte sich, und schließlich musste ich umziehen, um genügend Platz für meine ganze Herde zu haben. Diese Anfänge müssen hart gewesen sein. Trotz allem mag ich diese Arbeit, ich kann mich dabei konzentrieren und entspannen. Wie viele Ziegen haben Sie inzwischen? Ungefähr 1.900, aber es sind mehr als 30 Jahre vergangen, seitdem ich mit den ersten 200 angefangen habe. Haben Sie heute eine Hilfe, um mit dieser Herde zu Recht zu kommen? Ja, mein Sohn ist seit einiger Zeit hier bei mir, außerdem haben wir Personal. Wie verkaufen Sie Ihren Käse? Ich hatte immer einen Großhändler auf Gran Canaria, der meine gesamte Produktion verteilte, außerdem verkaufe ich schon seit mehr als 20 Jahren an die Käserei Valsequillo. Ich habe außerdem meine eigene Marke mit der Ursprungsbezeichnung Cañada de Agando; ich etikettiere meine Käsesorten und verkaufe sie direkt.

Wo kann man Ihren Käse kaufen? Hier in der Fabrik verkaufen wir auch ans Publikum. Wenn wir darum gebeten werden, verkaufen wir sogar eine Ziege oder ein Böckchen. Wird Ihr Käse nur aus Ziegenmilch hergestellt? Ja, und die stammt von meinen eigenen Ziegen. Ist es sehr schwer mit diesem Vieh zu Recht zu kommen? Wir achten sehr auf die Ernährung, meine Ziegen weiden viel, deshalb hat der Käse einen besonderen Geschmack. Wir führen sämtliche tierärztliche Kontrollen durch. Wir arbeiten mit der Tierärztin des Verbandes ADS zusammen. Sie kontrolliert die Impfungen, außerdem wenden wir uns an sie, wenn eines unserer Tiere krank wird. Als es dieses Jahr so stark regnete, hatten wir ein Problem: Unsere Rohrleitungen gingen kaputt, und das Wasser des Brunnens, das die Ziegen zu trinken bekommen, wurde mit schlechtem Wasser, vermischt, das Jod und kein Chlor enthält. Dadurch wurde meine Produktion wurde lange unterbrochen. Viele Ziegen wurden krank, und eine Menge von ihnen starben daran. Dank de Hilfe des Tierarztes Doktor José Luis García, der Tag und Nacht für uns da war, schafften wir es, die Situation in den Griff zu bekommen, so dass die Herde wieder gesund wurde. Es war eine sehr harte Zeit. Juana, wie stellen Sie sich die Zukunft Ihres Betriebes vor? Wird jemand die Tradition fortsetzen? Ich hoffe, dass mein Sohn den Betrieb weiter führen wird, wenn ich nicht mehr dazu in der Lage bin. Es würde mir leid tun, wenn diese Arbeit nicht weitergemacht würde.

Sie hat uns erzählt, dass ihre Vorfahren in der Zeit, in der Carlos V. mit Isabel von Portugal verheiratet war, von Madeira auf die Insel kamen. Sie erzählt uns, dass viele Siedler Portugiesen waren und ihre Bräuche auf die Insel mitbrachten. Es scheint, dass sie sich zusammenschlossen und in Dörfern auf der gesamten Insel niederließen und diese prägten. Ihr Einfluss ist sowohl in der Landwirtschaft als auch in der örtlichen Architektur bis heute erhalten geblieben. Sie ist ein Neuling in der Landwirtschaft, aber sie hat seit vielen Jahren einen wunderbaren Hof in Vallebrón, den sie nach und nach in ein produktives Gelände verwandeln möchte. Dolores, wann haben Sie beschlossen, sich der Landwirtschaft zu widmen? Vor drei Jahren, als ich Witwe wurde. Mein Mann interessierte sich nicht für das Land. Ich habe dieses Land schon viel länger, aber erst 1986 habe ich begonnen, den Hof zu nutzen, und seit drei Jahren widme ich mich ihm ganz und gar. Ich habe die Elektrizität angeschlossen und ich bewässere den Hof, außerdem habe ich meine Gerätehütte. Ich habe nicht nur an allen möglichen Landwirtschaftskursen teilgenommen, sondern ich habe auch gelernt, Kompost herzustellen. Ich habe dies geübt, indem ich auf fast experimentelle Weise verschiedene Pflanzenarten gesät und gesammelt habe, denn in dieser Gegend ist es feuchter und kälter als in anderen Teilen der Insel. Was für Pflanzen haben Sie auf Ihrem Hof? Ich habe zwölf verschiedene Salatarten gepflanzt, Mangold, Kohlrabi, Sommertomaten, Mais, Paprika, Kürbisse, Wassermelonen und Melonen. Außerdem habe ich die Erde der Gavias geebnet und ich habe die Erde umgegraben, um weitere zu schaffen. Ich habe Obstbäume und Palmen gepflanzt und hoffe, dass ich um das Haus herum einen schönen Garten anlegen kann. Ich hoffe, dass dieser Hof bald ganz grün ist. Machen Sie die ganze Arbeit allein?

Nein, normalerweise stelle ich irgendjemand ein, um mir dabei zu helfen. Wie sind Sie auf die Idee gekommen, in diesem Sektor anzufangen. Hatten Sie Erfahrung? Ich fühle mich schon immer zur Landwirtschaft hingezogen. Was haben Sie eigentlich früher gemacht?

Ich studierte die schönen Künste auf Teneriffa und hatte das Glück, wunderbare Lehrer zu haben. Ich spezialisierte mich in Malerei und widmete mich weitgehend dieser Kunst. Als ich heiratete, war ich allerdings hauptsächlich Hausfrau und Mutter. Es ist überraschend, dass eine Malerin zur Landwirtin wird. Zurzeit motiviert es mich, zu sehen wie mein Hof wächst und ihn zu verschönern. Ich schaffe dies mit viel Arbeit und indem ich auf andere Launen verzichte.

La empresa majorera Telmax y la multinacional Motorola colaborarán en la extensión del servicio de internet sin cables FMHOY - Fuerteventura El director de la empresa majorera de telecomunicaciones ‘Telmax’, Juan Cabrera, y el director de negocios de la multinacional ‘Motorola’ para Europa, Iam Baly, se reunieron recientemente con el presidente del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Mario Cabrera, para exponer los planes de actividad de ambas empresas y analizar posibles colaboraciones en el marco del proyecto del Parque Tecnológico de Fuerteventura. Telmax es una empresa de telecomunicaciones con sede en Fuerteventura que está ofreciendo desde hace años un servicio de internet y telefonía denominado Wireless (sin cables), que permite llevar conexiones vía satélite a las poblaciones o viviendas

aisladas donde no llega el servicio convencional. Según explicaron los representantes de Telmax y Motorola, ésta última, una multinacional norteamericana con una fuerte implantación en el mercado mundial, aportará el soporte tecnológico necesario para seguir desarrollando y ampliando los servicios de internet sin cables. Los representantes de ambas empresas expusieron en el Cabildo sus planes de extensión en Canarias y sus perspectivas en el mercado internacional, y se interesaron además por posibles colaboraciones con el Parque Tecnológico de Fuerteventura para una mejor implantación.

EL AYUNTAMIENTO DE LA OLIVA IMPULSA UN PLAN DE CHOQUE PARA REGULARIZAR LOS COMERCIOS

El primer teniente alcalde y concejal de Comercio y Turismo del Ayuntamiento, Marcelino Umpiérrez, ha anunciado el impulso de un plan de choque “con carácter inmediato” para regularizar la situación de los comercios que existen en el municipio, especialmente los ubicados en Corralejo y El Cotillo, “con el objetivo de abrir una nueva etapa en la que exigiremos el estricto cumplimiento de las ordenanzas municipales y la aplicación de una política conjunta que contribuya la mejora de la calidad de la oferta comercial”. El Ayuntamiento ha constituido un grupo de trabajo, en el que también está presente el concejal de Urbanismo, Alexis Curbelo, y la concejala de Hacienda, María Ángeles Figueroa, para acometer un plan que se extenderá hasta el próximo 31 de octubre y que contempla una primera fase de estudio y modificación de las ordenanzas municipales y una acción paralela consistente en un trabajo de campo en el que también participarán técnicos municipales de distintos departamentos. La Concejalía de Comercio y Turismo prevé revisar todas las ordenanzas que afectan al sector comercial -licencias de apertura, ocupación de la vía pública, rótulos, carteles y la ordenanza fiscal de basuras, entre otras- y presentar ante el pleno del Ayuntamiento un paquete de modificaciones que permitan el desarrollo del plan que se ha trazado el nuevo grupo de gobierno.

The Ayuntamiento has constituted a work group that also includes the Urbanism Councillor, Alexis Curbelo, and the Hacienda Councillor, María Ángeles Figueroa, in order to apply a plan that will last until 31st October. It consists of a first stage of study and modifications of the municipal laws and a parallel action that consists in working onsite with municipal technicians from various departments. The Commerce and Tourism Councillor aims at reviewing the regulations that affect the commercialopening licences sector, the occupation of public highways, signs and the tax regulations for waste – amongst others – and presenting to the Ayuntamiento suggestions of modifications that will allow the development of the plan that has been drawn by the new government group.

In der ersten Phase wird eine Untersuchung durchgeführt, und die Verordnungen der Gemeinde werden geändert. Gleichzeitig wird Arbeit vorort durchgeführt, an der Angestellte verschiedener Departements der Gemeinde beteiligt sind. Das Amt für Handel und Tourismus beabsichtigt, alle Verordnungen zu überprüfen, die den Sektor betreffen - Lizenzen zur Eröffnung von Geschäften, Besitznahme der öffentlichen Straße, Firmenschilder, Plakate, Müllverordnung usw. – und dem Plenum des Gemeinderates ein Paket mit Änderungen zu präsentieren, durch die es möglich wird, den Plan der neuen Regierungsfraktion zu verwirklichen.

achieved an honourable eleventh place in the Optimist Championship of Spain, a competition that registered for the selections for the National teams. His coach, Pascual Perdomo, feels that the result achieved by Javier Reyes of Club de Regatas Pujamen (CRP) from Corralejo, in the Optimist Championship of Spain is a motivation to join this activity. The competition took place between 20th and 25th June in the waters of Ría de Pontevedra, in Sanxenxo and was organised by the RCN Sanxenxo and the Royal Sailing Federation of Spain. It included the participation of 120 Regatta racers in the Optimist category. The organisation of the event was a great success and promoted the fraternity between Canarian Regatta racers, managed by technicians from the Canarian Federation, Alejandro Cabrera and Israel López. El joven regatista majorero, Javier Reyes, ha conseguido un digno undécimo puesto en el Campeonato de España de Optimist, una prueba que ha sido selectiva para la formación de equipos nacionales. Su entrenador, Pascual Perdomo, considera que el resultado logrado por Javier Reyes, integrado en el Club de Regatas Pujamen (CRP), de Corralejo, en el Campeonato de España de Optimist “invita al optimismo”. El certamen, celebrado entre el 20 y 25 de junio en aguas de la Ría de Pontevedra, en Sanxenxo, estuvo organizado por el RCN Sanxenxo y la Real Federación Española de Vela, y contó con la participación de 120 regatistas en la clase Optimist. La cita resultó un éxito de organización además de fomentar la convivencia entre los regatistas canarios, dirigidos por los técnicos de la Federación Canaria, Alejandro Cabrera e Israel López. Esta prueba que amparó un total de nueve regatas de las doce previstas, después de que el sábado no se pudiera navegar debido a la falta de viento, ha sido selectiva para la formación de los equipos nacionales. Aunque lo que realmente importa subrayar es la mejoría considerable de Javier Reyes en este campeonato nacional frente los resultados obtenidos en la prueba nacional de Santander donde logró la posición número 47. En esta ocasión, el regatista del CRP finalizó el campeonato nacional como undécimo, con 70 puntos (18-2-2-(39)-2-9-4-23-(36)-10).

Der junge Segler aus Fuerteventura Javier Reyes hat sich würdevoll den elften Platz bei der spanischen Optimist-Meisterschaft erkämpft. Diese Meisterschaft diente als Auslese für die Bildung von nationalen Mannschaften. Sein Trainer, Pascual Perdomo, ist der Meinung, dass das Ergebnis von Javier Reyes, der dem Club de Regatas Pujamen (CRP) aus Corralejo angehört, bei der spanischen Optimist-Meisterschaft zum „Optimismus auffordert”. Diese Sportveranstaltung, die vom 20. bis zum 25. Juni in den Gewässern des Ría de Pontevedra in Sanxenxo stattfand, wurde von dem RCN Sanxenxo und der spanischen Segel-Föderation organisiert. An diesem Ereignis nahmen 120 Segler der Klasse Optimist teil. Das Event war sehr erfolgreich, außerdem wurde dabei die Gemeinschaft der kanarischen Segler unter der Leitung von Mitgliedern der kanarischen Föderation, Alejandro Cabrera und Israel López, gefördert. An dieser Meisterschaft nahmen neun der zwölf angemeldetten Regattas teil. Nachdem man am Samstag wegen dem starken Wind nicht segeln konnte, diente dieser Wettkampf der Auslese für die Bildung nationaler Mannschaften. Das wichtigste ist, zu betonen, dass sich Javier Reyes bei dieser Meisterschaft im Vergleich zu seinen Ergebnissen bei dem Kampf in Santander deutlich verbessert hat, wo er auf Platz 47 kam. Dieses Mal kam der Segler des CRP bei der nationalen Meisterschaft mit 70 Punkten (18-2-2-(39)-29-4-23-(36)-10) auf den elften Platz.

Y fueron los mismos participantes quienes animaron el encuentro con sus bailes para demostrar todo lo aprendido durante estos meses. También, los mayores bailaron junto al monitor varias piezas y acabaron con un baile en el que fueron protagonistas todas las personas que allí se encontraban. Para cerrar este encuentro se preparó una merienda, en la que los productos alimenticios fueron elaborados por los propios alumnos. Finalmente, los alumnos expresaron su deseo para que este curso vuelva a impartirse, por dos razones primordiales: han aprendido bastante y se lo han pasado muy bien. La tarde llegó a su fin con la satisfacción general por el buen rato compartido después del esfuerzo realizado.

THE FOLKLORIC DANCE CLASS FOR THE THIRD AGE, FINISHED WITH A DANCE AND AN AFTERNOON SNACK

The Third Age Ball Room in Corralejo recently hosted the end of the Fokloric Dance Course that had been going on since October 2010 with instructor Pedro del Toro. All students were present for the farewell party as well as other members of the “Tercera Edad Fuerteventura Norte” (North Fuerteventura Third Age Association). Participants animated the event with their dances to demonstrate everything they had learned over the past few months. The elders also danced with the instructor for various dances and finished with a dance where each person present took part. To close the encounter an afternoon snack was prepared by the students themselves. Finally, students expressed their wish for the course to be organised again for two main reasons: they learned a lot and they enjoyed so much. The afternoon reached its end with everyone feeling satisfied with the good time they shared after the efforts they had made.

DER FOLKLORE-TANZKURS FÜR SENIOREN ENDET MIT EINER TANZVERANSTALTUNG UND EINEM IMBSS

Kürzlich fand im Veranstaltungssaal für Senioren in Corralejo die Abschlussveranstaltung des FolkloreTanzkurses statt, der seit Oktober 2010 von Pedro del Toro geleitet wurde. Corralejo occupies the 4th place in the ranking of the “Travellers’ Choices for the Best Beaches Awards” that one the most important websites specialised in tourism grants every year where the travellers themselves rate the destinations. TripAdvisor points out that “Corrlejo’s beaches, with its tranquil water, is ideal for families, but windsurf and kite surf enthusiasts should try “Flag Beach” or “Glass Beach” that are the windiest beaches. EL AYUNTAMIENTO RECUERDA LA VIGENCIA DEL BANDO SOBRE LA GESTIÓN DE LA BASURA DOMICILIARIA

La Concejalía de Servicios del Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario, recuerda, ante la detección de algunos comportamientos ciudadanos insolidarios, la vigencia del Bando municipal “Las basuras, al contenedor y a su hora” suscrito por la Alcaldía de este municipio en junio de 2006. En este bando, que puede ser consultado en la web municipal www.puertodelrosario.org y que va a ser redistribuido entre los vecinos de la capital, se hacía mención a la necesidad de esfuerzo colectivo para mantener la ciudad en óptimas condiciones a la vez que se pedía la colaboración ciudadana para evitar el espectáculo negativo de los contenedores abiertos, con bolsas de basura depositadas fuera del horario establecido, etc. Pero lo más importante, según señala el Departamento de Servicios Municipal es recordar al ciudadano las normas que establece la mencionada normativa y que se pueden resumir en los siguientes puntos: Es obligatorio depositar la basura domiciliaria o de su establecimiento comercial entre las 20:00 y las 23:00 horas. Ha de retirarse del domicilio en bolsas de plástico bien cerradas, depositarlas dentro del contenedor y dejarlo cerrado. Cualquier objeto voluminoso debe plegarse o trocearse bien para que no reduzca la capacidad del depósito. Está completamente prohibido tirar basura o escombros fuera de los recipientes y lugares expresamente autorizados para cada tipo de residuo. La Concejalía de Servicios cree oportuno recordar asimismo las sanciones que se derivan del incumplimiento de estos preceptos y cuyo importe puede llegar hasta los 1800 €, según recoge la Ordenanza de Limpieza Municipal de 15 de mayo de 1998.

THE AYUNTAMIENTO POINTS OUT THE VALIDITY OF THE LAW CONCERNING HOUSEHOLD WASTE MANAGEMENT

Further to the behaviour of some unsupportive citizens, Puerto del Rosario’s Services Council reminds all about the validity of the municipal law called “Las basuras, al contenedor y a su hora” (The bins, at the container at the right time) since June 2006. This law, that can be viewed on the municipal webpage: www.puertoelrosario.org and that will be redistributed amongst the capital’s population, mentions about the necessity for a collective effort in order to maintain the town in optimum conditions and requests the collaboration of citizens to avoid a negative display of open containers, with bin bags deposited outside of established hours, etc. The most important, as pointed out by the Municipal Services Department, is to remind citizens about the norms established within this law that can be summed up in the following points: It is compulsory to take out household waste or that from a commercial establishment between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Waste should be contained in perfectly closed plastic bags and deposited inside containers and leave them closed. Any voluminous object must be folded or cut into pieces to ensure that it won’t reduce the capacity of the container.

Nachdem das Verhalten einiger unsolidarischer Bürger aufgefallen ist, erinnert das Amt für Dienste der Gemeinde von Puerto del Rosario daran, dass der Gemeindeerlass „Müll, Mülleimer und Uhrzeiten” gültig ist, der im Juni 2006 vom Bürgermeister dieser Stadt unterzeichnet worden ist. Man kann diesen Erlass auf der Website der Stadt www.puertodelrosario.org lesen, außerdem wird er wieder an die Bürger dieser Stadt verteilt. Dort wird erklärt, dass es wichtig ist, sich anzustrengen, um die Stadt in einem hervorragenden Zustand zu erhalten. Weiterhin werden die Bürger um Unterstützung gebeten, um zu verhindern, dass durch offenen Mülleimer, Mülltüten, die außerhalb der dafür vorgesehen Zeiten entsorgt werden usw. ein negatives Bild entsteht. Das Departement für Leistungen der Stadt erklärt, dass es das wichtigste ist, die Bürger an die Vorschriften zu erinnern, die in dem oben genannten Erlass erwähnt werden und die in folgenden Punkten zusammengefasst werden können: Es ist obligatorisch, den Hausmüll oder den Müll einer Firma zwischen 20:00 und 23:00 Uhr wegzuwerfen. Der Müll muss in gut verschlossenen Plastikbeuteln entsorgt und in Müllcontainer geworfen werden, die danach wieder verschlossenen werden müssen. Jeglicher umfangreiche Gegenstand muss zusammengebogen oder zerkleinert werden, um die Kapazität des Depots nicht zu beeinträchtigen. Es ist streng verboten, Müll oder Schutt außerhalb der ausdrücklich für jede Art von Müll vorgesehen Behälter und Orte zu entsorgen. Das Amt für Leistungen hält es für angebracht daran zu erinnern, dass die Ordnungsstrafe für NichtEinhalten dieser Vorschriften gemäß der GemeindeVerordnung über Sauberkeit vom 15. Mai 1998 bis zu 1.800 € betragen kann.

El Ayuntamiento, desde su Concejalía de Servicios, informa que desde hace algunas semanas y en el marco de uno de los programas de empleo que actualmente se integran en la acción municipal, se está procediendo a la rehabilitación de las fachadas de las viviendas antiguas localizadas en el entorno del frente marítimo y cuyo deterioro era notable. Con esta acción se pretende embellecer la zona céntrica de la ciudad, muy transitada por vecinos y por turistas, ofreciendo una nueva imagen más limpia y cuidada. The Ayuntamiento’s Services Council has made it known that for the past few weeks and within one of the employment programmes that are currently integrated in the municipal action, deteriorated facades of old houses on the sea front are being renovated. This initiative aims at embellishing the central area of the town which is very busy with neighbours and tourists’ activities, and will give it a new clean and cared for appearance. The streets concerned by this initiative are Teófilo Martínez Escobar, Fernández Castañeyra, García Escámez and the area known as “La Cornisa” on Avenida Marítima. Many of those houses were unoccupied and in a state of total abandon, but in other cases, the owners have had to participate by bringing paint and other materials so that the work could be carried out on their property.

Das Amt für Leistungen der Stadt machte bekannt, dass seit einigen Wochen – im Rahmen eines Beschäftigungsprogramms der Gemeinde, das zurzeit durchgeführt wird – die Fassaden der alten Häuser in der Umgebung der Meeresfront renoviert werden, die in bemerkenswert schlechtem Zustand waren. Mit dieser Maßnahme wird beabsichtigt, die von Besuchern und Einheimischen viel besuchte Innenstadt zu verschönern und ein sauberes und gepflegtes Image zu vermitteln. Diese Maßnahmen werden in den Straßen Teófilo Martínez Escobar, Fernández Castañeyra, García Escámez und in der Gegend der Avenida Marítima durchgeführt. Viele Häuser standen leer; in anderen Fällen haben sich die Besitzer an den Arbeiten beteiligt, indem sie Farben und andere Materialien für die Fassade ihres Hauses oder ihrer Niederlassung in dieser Gegend zur Verfügung stellten.

EL AYUNTAMIENTO CONFIRMA UNA INVERSIÓN DE 23.348,50 € PARA MEJORAS EN EL MERCADO MUNICIPAL

El Ayuntamiento, a través de su Concejalía de Comercio, comunica que, por parte de este Departamento, se ha confirmado la subvención 15.595,72 € por parte de la Consejería de Comercio del Gobierno de Canarias a través del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional, con el objeto de financiar una serie de mejoras en el Mercado Municipal capitalino. Este importe se une a la financiación municipal de 7.752,78 €, lo que hacen un total de 23.348,50 € de inversión total. Las obras que se ejecutarán serán las siguientes: - Reforma y Acondicionamiento de la Cámara del Pescado - Pintura exterior, interior y rejas. - Arreglo de Tejas de la entrada y cuarto de Almacén - Cubrir las instalaciones con Pladur - Colocación de rejas exteriores - Instalación de bancos y papeleras en terraza exterior. Esta infraestructura municipal ya fue objeto el pasado febrero de una serie de mejoras en lo que concernía al acondicionamiento e instalaciones del inmueble, cámaras frigoríficas, aseos, solados, etc.

El importe total del proyecto giró alrededor de los 38.000,00 euros de los cuáles el 67 % fue subvencionado por el ejecutivo autónomo a través de la Dirección General de Comercio y el 33 % restante corrió a cargo de los fondos propios municipales. El Mercado Municipal ya acogió distintas acciones de mejora en el año 2007, ejecutadas en el entorno del propio edificio, concretamente en la plazoleta y accesos situados entre la calle peatonal Encarnación Hormiga y la propia Avenida Marítima. La inversión en esta ocasión fue de 173.799 €, dentro del Plan de Dinamización Turística. En el año 2004 el Mercado Municipal fue intervenido de manera integral acondicionando toda la infraestructura tal y como la conocemos ahora. El Mercado Municipal de Puerto del Rosario, que incluye la plaza de Los Paragüitas y aledaños, dispone de una amplia oferta de carnicería, pescadería, verduras, quesos, productos artesanales, además de una zona de ocio integrada por una terraza-cafetería y una freiduría de pescado.

The Ayuntamiento’s Commerce Council has announced that a 15.595,72 Euro grant has been confirmed by the Canaries’ Government Commerce Council through the European Funds for Regional Development in order to finance a series of improvements on the Municipal Market in the capital. This amount is added to the Municipal financing of 7.752,78 Euros, making a total investment of 23.348,5 Euros. The work to be carried out is the following: - Refurbishment and Fitting out of the Fishing Chamber. - Exterior and interior painting, including the gates. - Fixing the tiles in the entrance and in the store room. - Cover the premises with Pladur (insulation). - Installation of exterior gates. - Installation of benches and waste bins on the exterior terrace. This municipal infrastructure had already undergone some refurbishment work last February as far as refrigerated chambers, toilets, tiled floors, etc. were concerned. The investment represented about 38.000,00 Euros of which 67% came from grants from the Autonomous community through the General Commerce Head Department and 33% came from Municipal funds. The Municipal Market area had also been refurbished in 2007 around the small square and access situated between the pedestrian street of Encarnación Hormiga and Avenida Marítima. This investment represented 173.799 Euros spent within the Plan to dynamize Tourist areas. In 2004 the Municipal Market was completely refurbished like it is again today. Es werden folgende Arbeiten durchgeführt: - Erneuerung und Herrichtung der Fischkammer - Anstrich außen, innen und an den Gittern. - Reparatur der Ziegel im Eingang und im Lagerraum - Installationen mit Pladur bedecken - Neue Gitter außen anbringen - Aufstellen von Bänken und kleinen Mülleimern auf der Terrasse. In dieser Infrastruktur wurden schon im Februar einige Verbesserungsarbeiten durchgeführt, die die Herrichtung und die Installationen des Gebäudes (Gefrierkammern, Toiletten, Fußböden usw.) betrafen. Dieses Projekt hat ungefähr 38.000,00 Euro gekostet. Davon wurden 67 % über die Generalverwaltung für Handel der Autonomen Regierung subventioniert. Die übrigen 33 % wurden mit Mitteln der Gemeinde bezahlt. Auch im Jahr 2007 wurden in der Umgebung der Markthalle verschiedene Verbesserungsarbeiten durchgeführt; und zwar an dem kleinen Platz und an den Zugängen, die sich zwischen der Fußgängerzone Encarnación Hormiga und der Avenida Marítima befinden. In diesem Fall wurden im Rahmen des Plans für die Dynamisierung des Tourismus 173.799 € investiert. Im Jahr 2004 wurde der ganze Markt umgebaut; dabei wurde die Infrastruktur vollständig umgestaltet und bekam ihr heutiges Aussehen. Der öffentliche Markt von Puerto del Rosario, zu dem die Plaza de Los Paragüitas und Umgebung gehören, verfügt über ein weites Angebot an Fleisch, Fisch, Gemüse, Käse und traditionell hergestellte Produkte sowie über einen Freizeitbereich mit Café einem Lokal für frittierten Fisch.

LA CAMPAÑA DE ARREGLO DE CAMINOS DE TIERRA ACTÚA EN TEFÍA, AMPUYENTA Y CASILLAS DEL ÁNGEL

The dirt track repairs campaign is currently underway in various villages of Puerto del Rosario’s Municipality. For the past few weeks work has been concentrated in Tefía, and La Ampuyenta and will soon reach Casillas del Ángel. For the past few months the campaign went through the areas of Pájara and La Oliva within a yearly schedule that goes through all the municipalities of the Majorero Island. The Cabildo regularly works on about 500 kilometres of dirt tracks all over the island whose maintenance is the municipality’s responsibility. The indications concerning tracks to be worked on are received through the ayuntamientos. The Cabildo then takes care of periodical repairs and the ayuntamientos take care of the maintenance until the steam roller comes back to work in that area again.

DIE KAMPAGNE UM WEGE IN ORDNUNG ZU BRINGEN WIRD IN TEFÍA, AMPUYENTA UND CASILLAS DEL ÁNGEL DURCHGEFÜHRT

Die Kampagne, um Wege in Ordnung zu bringen, wird zurzeit in Orten der Gemeinde von Puerto del Rosario durchgeführt. In den letzten Wochen wurden Arbeiten in Tefía gemacht, in diesen Tagen werden sie in Ampuyenta durchgeführt und demnächst ist Casillas del Ángel dran. In den letzten Monaten wurde diese Kampagne in den Orten der Gemeinden Pájara und La Oliva durchgeführt. Dies geschieht im Rahmen eines jährlichen Terminkalenders, der alle Gemeinden der Insel mit einbezieht. Der Cabildo arbeitet regulär an ungefähr 500 Wegen, die auf der Insel verteilt sind und für deren Instandhaltung die Gemeinden zuständig sind. Die Hinweise darauf, welche Wege in Ordnung gebracht werden müssen, kommen von den Gemeinden. Der Cabildo übernimmt die periodischen Reparaturen; die Gemeinden dagegen sind für die Instandhaltung zuständig, bis die Kampagne wieder durchgeführt wird.

EL AYUNTAMIENTO PROMUEVE UNA NUEVA OFERTA DE OCIO PARA LOS MÁS PEQUEÑOS DURANTE EL VERANO

La campaña de recebe para arreglo de caminos de tierra trabaja en la actualidad en las poblaciones del municipio de Puerto del Rosario. Durante las últimas semanas los trabajos se han centrado en Tefía, estos días permanece en Ampuyenta y próximamente se extenderá a Casillas del Ángel Durante los últimos meses la campaña se ha venido realizando en las localidades de Pájara y La Oliva, dentro de un calendario anual que va recorriendo todos los municipios majoreros. El Cabildo trabaja regularmente sobre unos 500 kilómetros de caminos de tierra distribuidos por toda la geografía insular y cuyo mantenimiento y competencia es municipal. Las indicaciones sobre los caminos a arreglar se reciben a través de los respectivos ayuntamientos. El Cabildo asume los trabajos de arreglo periódico y los ayuntamientos su conservación, hasta que la maquinaria del tren de recebe vuelva a trabajar en la zona.

THE CAMPAIGN OF DIRT TRACK REPAIRS IS UNDERWAY IN TEFÍA, AMPUYENTA AND CASILLAS DEL ÁNGEL

La Concejalía de Cultura del Ayuntamiento comunica que desde este miércoles, 13 de julio, comenzó una nueva oferta lúdica para los más pequeños de la casa y durante la etapa de las vacaciones de verano. Esta propuesta de Talleres Infantiles de Verano que tendrán lugar en la Casa de la Cultura capitalina, en horario de 10:00 a 13:00 h, de lunes a viernes, se complementa con la que ya ha venido desarrollándose desde el pasado mayo en los pueblos de Casillas del Angel, Tetir, Los Estancos, El Time, La Matilla, Ampuyenta, Los Llanos de la Concepción, Puerto Lajas y el Matorral. En estos pueblos, los talleres se realizaban en horario de tarde pero a partir de julio se celebran en el horario de mañana señalado. THE AYUNTAMIENTO STARTS A NEW CAMPAIGN OF LEISURE ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN DURING THE SUMMER The Ayuntamiento’s Culture Council has announced that from Wednesday 13th July, recreational activities have been organised for children during the summer holidays. This initiative of Children’s Summer Workshops will take place in Puerto del Rosario’s Casa de la Cultura between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through to Friday in addition to the activities already developed since May in the villages of Casillas del Angel, Tetir, Los Estancos, El Time, La Matilla, Ampuyenta, Los Llanos de la Concepción, Puerto Lajas and el Matorral. In those locations, the workshops will take place in the afternoon but from July onwards they will take place in the morning. Because of the population’s volume, the offer in Casa e la Cultura is aimed at children aged between 6 and 8 years of age whereas the activities in the other villages are open to children of all ages. The attendance to those workshops is free of charge and access is free until all spaces are filled as numbers are limited in order to ensure that sessions will be manageable. The activities of those recreational workshops are mainly focused on manual activities where they develop themes such as recycling and of course a large space is dedicated to games. Dieser Kinder-Kurs wird in der Casa de la Cultura der Hauptstadt von Montag bis Freitag von 10:00 bis 13:00 Uhr stattfinden. Dadurch werden die Kurse ergänzt, die im Mai in den Orten Casillas del Angel, Tetir, Los Estancos, El Time, La Matilla, Ampuyenta, Los Llanos de la Concepción, Puerto Lajas und El Matorral stattfanden. In diesen Orten waren die Kurse nachmittags. Ab Juli werden sie jedoch vormittags stattfinden. Das Angebot der Casa de la Cultura ist für 6- bis 8-Jährige. Antonio Rodríguez Cabrera - Artesano de artículos de madera

“Las paneras y las pintas han tenido mucho éxito” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Antonio Rodríguez es un joven artesano muy creativo. Lo conocimos en la Feria de Artesanía de Antigua, y su stand llamaba la atención por sus originales creaciones: objetos pequeños de uso práctico, que combinaban el estilo rustico tradicional, con la novedad del diseño. Quisimos ver su taller de cerca y nos desplazamos a Las Hermosas para charlar con él. ¿Antonio desde cuándo trabajas la madera? A los dieciséis años me fui a Las Palmas a tomar un curso de carpintería y ebanistería y a los diecinueve años regresé, para dedicarme de lleno a confeccionar muebles de todo tipo. Poco a poco fueron surgiendo ideas de otro tipo y comencé con las paneras que tanto éxito han tenido. Todavía estoy sirviendo pedidos de la Feria. Era la

primera vez que me presentaba en una exposición y la verdad es que quedé muy contento. Sí, es una idea muy graciosa y practica, ¿lo copiaste de algún modelo antiguo? No, es una idea que fue surgiendo y en gran parte gracias a la madre de mi novia. ¿Qué más modelos presentaste en la Feria?

Los ceniceros tallados en un tronco de árbol y los jarrones que son igualmente un tronco vaciado. También marcos en madera tallada, colgadores de llaves, etc. Pero lo que más suelo trabajar y siempre por encargo son pintas. ¿Qué te parece si explicamos a nuestros lectores, que es una pinta? Son estas mesas-bancos de madera con estas circunferencias con dibujos en relieve, donde se colocan los quesos para que al secar queden marcados los diseños en su corteza exterior. Primero se colocan de un lado y luego se dan la vuelta. Tengo diferentes modelos, unos dieciséis diferentes, alguno incluso de La Palma y hasta un diseño del país vasco; cada quesería suele usar la que la caracteriza. Los ganaderos me encargan mucho las pintas. ¿Qué otros encargos sueles hacer?

Hago mesas secadero para el pescado, bancos, sillas y roperos, mesitas etc. Cualquier cosa que me pidan. ¿Y qué tipo de maderas usas? Uso jatoba, sapelli, pino, depende del uso que le vaya a dar. Viendo tu taller se puede observar que tu trabajo es casi todo manual, pues no hay prácticamente maquinaria. Es cuestión de manualidad y paciencia. La rentabilidad en este tipo de trabajo no es mucha, por la cantidad de horas que se lleva cada trabajo. Tiene que gustar y me gusta mucho, aunque por el momento tengo otro trabajo y solo dedico mis horas libres a mis creaciones. “Breadbins and pintas are quite popular” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Antonio Rodríguez is a young creative handcraft worker. We met him at Antigua’s Handcraft Fair where his stand caught our attention with its original creations: small practical objects that combined the traditional rustic style with new designs. We wanted to visit his workshop and went to Las Hermosas to have a chat with him. Antonio, when did you start working with wood? At seventeen years of age I went to Las Palmas to follow a course of carpentry and cabinet-making and at nineteen years of age I came back to dedicate myself to creating all types of furniture. Slowly I started getting other ideas and I started making breadbins that have been very popular. I am still dealing with orders from the Fair. It was the first time that I was taking part in an exhibition and I have to admit that I was very satisfied. Yes, it is a funny and practical idea; did you copy it from an old model? No, it is an idea that came to me and mostly thanks to my girlfriend’s mother.

What other models did you show at the Fair? Ashtrays cut into tree trunks and vases that are also made of emptied tree trunks. There was also sculpted wooden frames, key holders, etc. But I mostly tend to create and get orders for pintas.

How about explaining to our readers what is a pinta? They are table-benches made of wood with carvings on their circumference where cheeses are laid on to dry so that the design of the carvings shows on the outside of the cheese. They are first laid on one side and then turned over. I have various models, about seventeen different models, even one from La Palma and one from the Basque Country; each cheese farm tends to use one that characterises it. Farmers order many pintas. What other items do you get orders for? I make drying tables for fish, benches, chairs and wardrobes, small tables, etc. Just about anything. What type of wood do you use? I use Jatoba, Sapele, Pine, depending on the use of the object. Looking at your workshop we can see that most of you work is done manually, as there are hardly any machines. It is a question of handcraft and patience. There

is not much room for profitability in this type of work given the amount of hours spent working on each creation. You have to like it and I like it a lot, although at present I have another job and I only spend my spare time working on my creations. “Die Brotschalen und die Pintas hatten viel Erfolg” FMHOY - Fuerteventura Antonio Rodríguez ist ein junger und sehr kreativer Kunsthandwerker. Wir haben ihn auf der Kunsthandwerksmesse von Antigua kennengelernt, wo sein Stand wegen seiner originellen Werke für Aufsehen sorgte: Es sind kleine praktische Gegenstände, die den traditionellen rustikalen Stil mit einem neuartigen Design kombinieren. Wir wollten seine Werkstatt kennenlernen und fuhren nach Las Hermosas, um uns mit ihm zu unterhalten. Antonio, seit wann arbeiten Sie mit Holz? Als ich sechzehn Jahre alt war, ging ich nach Las Palmas und machte einen Kurs für Schreinerhandwerk

und Kunstschreinerei. Als ich neunzehn war, kehrte ich zurück und begann Möbel aller Art herzustellen. Nach und nach kam ich auf neue Ideen und begann die Brotschalen herzustellen, die so viel Erfolg haben. Ich arbeite noch an den Bestellungen von der Messe. Ich habe zum ersten Mal auf einer Messe ausgestellt und bin sehr zufrieden. Die Idee ist sehr witzig und gleichzeitig praktisch. Haben Sie irgendein altes Modell kopiert? Nein, diese Idee entstand nach und nach. Zum

großen Teil ist dies ein Verdienst der Mutter meiner Freundin. Was haben Sie sonst noch auf der Messe ausgestellt? Die Aschenbecher aus einem Holzstumpf und die Krüge, die ebenfalls aus ausgehöhlten Holzstümpfen hergestellt werden. Ich stelle auch Rahmen aus geschnitztem Holz, Schlüsselanhänger usw. her. Ich mache jedoch vor allem Pintas, das sind immer Auftragsarbeiten. Könnten Sie bitte unseren Lesern erklären, was eine Pinta ist? Das sind diese runden Holztische, auf denen Käse getrocknet wird, damit Muster auf seiner äußeren Rinde entstehen. Der Käse wird erst auf eine Seite gelegt und dann wird er umgedreht. Ich habe sechzehn verschiedene Modelle; ich habe sogar Modelle von La Palma und vom Baskenland. Jede Käserei verwendet ein Modell, das bezeichnend für sie ist. Die Viehzüchter bestellen viele “Pintas” bei mir. Was für Auftragsarbeiten machen Sie sonst noch? Ich stelle Trockentische für Fisch, Bänke, Stühle, Kleiderschränke und Nachttische usw. her. Ich mache alles, worum mich die Kunden bitten. Was für Holz verwenden Sie? Ich suche mir das Holz nach dem Verwendungszweck aus; ich arbeite mit Jatoba, Sapelli und Kiefernholz.

Wenn man sich in Ihrer Werkstatt umschaut, kann man feststellen, dass Sie fast die ganze Arbeit manuell machen, denn es gibt praktisch keine Maschinen. Das ist eine Frage der Geschicklichkeit und der Geduld. Diese Arbeit ist nicht sehr rentabel, weil man viele Stunden dafür braucht. Das lohnt sich nur, wenn man Spaß daran hat. Mir macht diese Tätigkeit sehr viel Spaß, allerdings habe ich zurzeit noch eine andere Arbeit und stelle mein Kunsthandwerk in meiner Freizeit her. Cuida tu alimentación estas vacaciones FMHOY - Fuerteventura Aunque el calor y el tiempo libre cambian los hábitos alimentarios de gran parte de la población, es el momento de aplicar el sentido común a la dieta diaria. En plenas vacaciones, es bastante frecuente olvidar la rutina, disfrutar del tiempo libre y descuidar la dieta. Romper con el resto del año y dejar a un lado todo tipo de responsabilidades es la tónica general de unas vacaciones estivales. Pero, ¿por qué no aplicar un poco de sentido común a la alimentación? Tras meses de trabajo, es el momento de descansar y, por lo tanto, de vivir unos días donde el relax es protagonista. Unos días de caprichos, también a la hora de comer, que vendrán acompañados de helados, refrescos, fritos, dulces,… ¡Está permitido, pero, como todo, en su justa medida! Abusar de alimentos que habitualmente no consumimos es garantía de una mala digestión. Si, además, hay problemas de salud como diabetes, hipertensión o colesterol, las consecuencias pueden ser mucho peores. Uno de los factores decisivos a la hora de controlar la alimentación es el modo en que elegimos vivir las vacaciones. ¿Qué se debe tener en cuenta? - El camping permite mantener el tipo de alimentación que se sigue durante el resto del año en casa. Para ello, es necesario disponer del equipamiento adecuado, organizar los menús, respetar las normas de seguridad alimentaria y abastecerse de agua potable o, en su defecto, mineral. - El alojamiento en hoteles es más cómodo, pero también reporta más tentaciones a la hora de comer. El buffet libre, el chiringuito a la orilla del mar o el restaurante de comida rápida son tentaciones difíciles de vencer. Sin embargo, si intentamos incluir la ensalada, los platos de verdura y la fruta fresca en las comidas, lograremos que la dieta sea menos des-

compensada. Elegir platos nutritivos, pero ligeros, es la clave para lograr el equilibrio en plenas vacaciones. - Las excursiones, de uno o varios días, requieren la planificación de las comidas. Cuidar la hidratación, apostar por un desayuno completo y llenar la mochila con alimentos ligeros y bajos en grasa son algunas de las recomendaciones básicas. El objetivo es que, en medio de la actividad física, no falte la bebida (agua o bebidas isotónicas) para hacer frente al calor y que las digestiones no sean pesadas. - La playa no suele faltar en los planes vacacionales de los españoles. Es sabido por todos que, ante las altas temperaturas, hay muchos alimentos que resultan peligrosos en verano. A la hora de pasar un día a la orilla del mar, hay que elegir una u otra comida en función de si podemos, o no, garantizar las temperaturas de seguridad. Por otra parte, más allá de las toxiinfecciones alimentarias, se debe evitar el baño durante las dos horas posteriores a la ingestión, ya que

es el escenario perfecto para un corte de digestión. Independientemente del lugar o el modo de vivir el verano, es indispensable beber líquidos en abundancia para contrarrestar la pérdida de agua y de minerales que ocasiona el calor. La bebida más importante es, sin duda, el agua, que hidrata y no aporta calorías. Además, se aconseja combinarla con zumos de fruta. Dieta slow food para el verano El slow food es una nueva manera de disfrutar de la alimentación de un modo relajado. Por eso, las vacaciones son la época idónea para probar esta nueva tendencia que tiene como objetivo luchar contra las prisas de la vida diaria de la mayor parte de la población. Ante el ritmo desenfrenado, esta filosofía defiende la lentitud para poder recuperar el gusto y los sabores tradicionales, dedicando el tiempo necesario a cada comida. Además, rechaza los hábitos que empeoran la calidad de vida y promueve un estilo relajado que quiere disfrutar del tiempo libre, de la alimentación y de la vida en general.

Die Mehrheit der Bevölkerung ändert wegen der Hitze und der Freizeit ihre Ernährung, aber es ist wichtig, sich in dieser Zeit vernünftig zu ernähren. Im Urlaub ist es üblich, dass man die Routine vergisst, die Freizeit genießt und weniger auf die Ernährung achtet. In den Sommerferien ist alles anders als sonst und wir vergessen die Verantwortung, die wir das ganze Jahr über herumtragen. Aber warum sollten wir uns nicht halbwegs vernünftig ernähren? Nach monatelanger Arbeit ist der Zeitpunkt gekommen, um sich auszuruhen und entspannte Tage zu verbringen. So gönnen wir es uns auch, beim Essen unseren Launen freien Lauf zu lassen, und dann gibt es Eis, Erfrischungsgetränke, Frittiertes, Süßigkeiten… Das ist alles erlaubt, aber wie immer in Maßen! Wenn wir Nahrungsmittel im Übermaß zu uns nehmen, die wir normalerweise nicht essen, führt das zu einer schlechten Verdauung. Wenn jemand außerdem gesundheitliche Probleme hat wie Diabetes, Bluthochdruck oder einen hohen Cholesterinspiegel, kann das schwer wiegende Folgen haben. Wie weit wir unsere Ernährung kontrollieren können, hängt auch von der Art und Weise ab, wie wir unsere Ferien verbringen. Worauf sollte man achten? - Beim Campen kann man sich genau so ernähren wie das ganze Jahr über zuhause. Dafür muss man über die richtige Ausrüstung verfügen, die Speisepläne organisieren, sich an die Regeln für die Sicherheit von Lebensmitteln halten und sich mit Trinkwasser versorgen oder, wenn dieses nicht verfügbar ist, Mineralwasser verwenden. - Es ist bequemer im Hotel zu wohnen, aber dort ist das Essen auch verführerischer. Das freie Buffet, das Strandlokal am Meer oder das Fast-Food-Restaurant sind Versuchungen, denen man nur schwer widerstehen kann. Wenn wir allerdings auch Salat, Gemüse und frisches Obst essen, schaffen wir es, uns ausgeglichener zu ernähren. Um sich im Urlaub vernünftig zu ernähren, ist es das Wichtigste Gerichte auszuwählen, die gleichzeitig leicht und nahrhaft sind. - Wenn man Ausflüge macht, die einen oder mehrere Tage dauern, sollte man das Essen planen: Auf genügend Flüssigkeit achten, gut frühstücken und den Rucksack mit leichten, wenig fetthaltigen Lebensmitteln füllen. Wenn man sich bewegt, sollte man genügend trinken (Wasser oder isotonische Getränke), um die Hitze besser zu ertragen und keine schwere Verdauung zu haben.

- Die Spanier machen normalerweise Urlaub am Strand. Es ist bekannt, dass im Sommer einige Nahrungsmittel wegen der Hitze leicht verderben. Wenn wir den Tag am Meer verbringen, müssen wir geeignete Lebensmittel auswählen.
