April is officially behind us and we are that much closer to continued warmer weather. Although April did give us some great weather. Cindy and I finally got to dust the cobwebs off and hop on the back of our bikes.

Our Historic Route 66 Bikenights finally kicked off and I must say, thank you for all our loyal readers. We have had such an out pour of activity on our social media pages. People commenting, tagging and sharing. It’s always great to see. Please, keep it up. Our Bike Nights is going to get even better. Thanks to Bobby’s Place, we are going to be having live music through out May, plus fun and games. It’s really shaping up to be an awesome time.

Other thing happening around town. St Charles Harley Davidson’s Bike Nights are BACK. The first one on the books is May 18th from 6-9. They are having a bikini contest; dyno drag racing and motorcycle stunts. It’s bound to be a blast. Hope to see everyone there.

Gateway Harley Davidson is also having their Bike Night May 18th from 6-8. With live music, vendors, food and drinks. They are also having a drawing giveaway you can enter for a brand new Saddlemen Seat. That drawing will be October 19th. All Proceeds go to Helping Strays of Monroe County.

Make sure you mark your calendar for more upcoming events. St Charles H-D is hosting MidAmerica Hog Rally, Rally by the Rivers June 22-24.

Bikers for Backpacks is happening June 10th, that ride starts out at SuWallers.

And of course, this year’s 15th Annual Ride for Wishes. October 7-8. This is such a great cause and us here at Full Throttle are helping sponsor this event. Helping children get their wishes granted warms our hearts. Mark that date, bring the family and enjoy.

As always, my friends, ride safe and see you on the road with Full Throttle Magazine.

How’s it going Full Throttle readers! Keigan here again. I hope everyone has had an awesome start to the riding season. I want to start off with thanking everyone that came out to our Season Opening event at the dealership. We had an awesome turn out and gave away some cool prizes. Unfortunately, the grand prizes did go to anyone in our area, it was still a good event and the turn out was awesome. This month I wanted to talk about the kind of new, Harley Davidson Audio Powered by RockFord Fosgate. In the past the stereo systems coming from Harley Davidson have been lackluster, but the new Rockford Fosgate powered by Harley Davidson, is definitely something to talk about. So, if you’re in the market for a new system this article is for you. So, let’s get into it!

In 2022 Harley Davidson announced they were pairing up with Rockford Fosgate to bring everyone a new and improved audio system. Until this announcement Harley had the Boom Audio system that had a lot of issues. The sound quality just wasn’t there for the price the customer was paying. So, Harley decided it was time for a change and in doing so they brought to market the highest performing, most advanced audio system riders have ever experienced. You get legendary sound from two legendary brands.

Let’s start with the new 4 channel amplifier by Harley Davidson powered by Rockford Fosgate. This new amplifier comes packed with features such as M-DEQ, Full Range Class-D Technology, and Computer Controlled Digital Signal Processing. Don’t worry, I’m going to tell you what all of those features are and do for your audio system. M-DEQ, is Harley Davidson’s smart amplifier technology. What this allows the amplifier to do is tune the EQ points on the system in real time. This means while you’re riding, the system is learning your riding habits so it can tune the EQ points for every riding situation you may encounter. This will make sure you have incredible sound no matter the riding speed or conditions. The smart technology on this amplifier doesn’t stop there. The amplifier also comes with Computer Controlled Digital Signal Processing. This means no mater what Harley Davidson Powered by Rockford Fosgate speakers you have in your bike, stage 1 or stage 2, your amplifier adapts to the speakers. So, if you currently have stage 1 speakers, the amplifier will adjust and smart tune to stage 2 speakers when you decide to make the upgrade. The amplifier is also a 4-channel amplifier which means each amplifier can power up to 4 speakers. One of the nicest features to these new Harley Davidson Powered by Rockford Fosgate is the Full range Class D Technology. What this means is that the amplifier has more power and less electrical fatigue. These amplifiers produce maximum power without over drawing from the motorcycle.

Next thing I want to get into is the meat and potatoes of the system and that’s the speakers themselves. The Harley Davidson Powered by Rockford Fosgate, has 2

ROCKFORD FOSGATE

tiers of speakers, Stage 1, and Stage 2. Let’s start with stage 1 speakers. The stage 1 speaker by Harley Davidson Powdered by Rockford Fosgate are high performance 2-way speakers that feature an injection molded woofer and a bridge mounted tweeter. Each speaker is rated to handle up to 75 watts of power, and up to 8 speakers can be installed in a single system. The stage 1 speakers are bolt on ready and the install kit is plug and play, which makes installation a breeze.

The Stage 2 Harley Davidson Powdered by Rockford Fosgate, deliver ultra clear highs, super clean mids and ground thumping bass. These amplified 3-way speakers feature durable injection molded woofer, separate bridge mounted Midrange and Tweeter speakers. Each of these stage 2 speakers is rated to handle up to 150 watts of power and deliver outrageous volume with less distortion and deliver, clear and undistorted sound even at highway speeds. Both stage 1 and stage 2 speakers feature both R-Tune and BME.

The R-Tune feature basically is how the speakers were designed. When designing the system Harley Davidson knew sound at highway speeds is a big concern for the rider. So, they designed these speakers to project the sound directly at the rider which helps overcome road noise, and allows the rider to experience the enhanced audio experience that comes with this system. BME, also known as Bass Management Enhancement, is designed to produce more bass, no matter the system volume, or road noise. This system is always learning and adapting to your riding habits.

Along with new amplifiers and speakers, Harley Davidson Powered by Rockford Fosgate also brings you all saddlebag mounted subwoofers. The subwoofer is designed to work on all 2014-Later touring models equipped with Harley Davidson Powered by Rockford Fosgate audio systems. The 10-inch subwoofer is plug and play and delivers heart thumping bass. The subwoofers can be installed with 1 or 2 subwoofers, and work with saddlebag mounted speakers.

One of the coolest things this Harley Davidson Powered by RockFord Fosgate system features is the App for your phone. The app allows you to fine tune your system to your liking, and specs. If the system has a malfunction, the app also lets you see and trouble shoot where your system is having issues so you can quickly get the system back up and running, or take it in for any needed repair. All in all, this system delivers the highest sound quality and user friendly experience as any sound system on the market.

This wraps up this month’s article. I hope you all enjoyed the information and can use it when shopping for your next audio upgrade. Again, thank you all for taking the time to read this. If you have ideas for an article, I am always open to suggestions, and they can be emailed to Keigan@stcharlesharelydavidson.com. If you want to see what the shop has going on, pay attention to our social media outlets. Can’t wait to see you all at the first bike night May 18th! As always ride safe and keep it rubber side down.

CRACK UP’S

Putin is held hostage by a terrorist. A Russian truckdriver stops at the back of a long queue on the motorway. He sees a policeman walking down the line of stopped cars to briefly talk to the drivers. As the policeman approaches the truck, the truckdriver rolls down his window and asks, "What's going on?"

Policeman: "A terrorist is holding Putin hostage in a car. He's demanding 10 million rubles, or he'll douse Putin in petrol and set him on fire. So we're asking drivers for donations."

Driver: "Oh, ok. How much do people donate on average."

Policeman: "About a gallon."

After a prolonged drought when the rain came, all the animals in the forest were happy except the Kangaroo. When the others asked him what the reason was for such sadness, the Kangaroo revealed that the rain meant that all its kids would now be playing inside.

My buddy got arrested on drug charges and because it was his first offense, he thought he would get off lightly, but it turned out his lawyer was one of the worst in the state and ended up botching his case, so instead of getting a short term, he ended up getting 40 years without parole!!

Man, that sentence was way too long.

A guy is sitting at home when he hears a knock at the door. He opens the door and sees a snail on the porch. He picks up the snail and throws it as far as he can.

A year later, there’s another knock at the door. He opens it and sees the same snail. The snail says, “What was that all about?”

One day Max went to see Carl. Carl had a big swollen nose.

“Whoa, what happened, Carl?”, Max asked. “I sniffed a brose,” Carl replied.

“What?”, Max said. “There’s no ‘b’ in rose!”

Carl replied, “There was in this one!”

A man is walking through the woods when he sees a bear charging at him. He books it, but he knows he can't outrun a bear for long, so he starts praying, "Dear Lord, I beseech thee. Please, o Lord, please let this bear be a Christian!"

The bear catches up to him, knocks him down on the ground, then gets on its knees and says, "Dear Lord, thank you for this food I am about to receive..."

Patient: "Doc, my bum hurts..."

Doctor: "Where specifically does it hurt?"

Patient: "Right around the entrance."

Doctor: "Yeah well that's the exit. As long as you think it's an entrance, it'll continue to hurt."

DISTRACTIONS

Thereis nothing like jumping on a motorcycle and disconnecting from the world as we ride the open road. The freedom we feel is like nothing else and it can take us to another world. Unfortunately, many electronic devices are now standard issue on motorcycles (freedom machines) and offered as aftermarket options. These devices are serious distractions, which inhibit a rider’s ability to search and evaluate hazards on the road and detract from the experience of a true ride.

Someone convinced me that a bike with a radio, electronics, and a large passenger seat was a better choice. Therefore, I bought a geezer-glide a few years ago with all of the bells and whistles. A radio and windshield replaced the wind from an open handlebar and the harmonic roar created by a group of bikes. Adjusting electronics and worrying about the logistics of hauling a passenger around consumed a lot of time. These distractions caused me to miss a good percentage of the scenery provided by our magnificent countryside. I sold the bagger and bought another bike. A friend asked why I stepped down to a Springer. Sorry, but I feel my decision was a step UP. Besides, windshields block the bugs, which are an excellent source of nutrition.

Commonly found on many of the new, top of the line motorcycle models are GPS, USB ports, and a sound system coupled with 6.5-inch color LCD monitor. A rider can easily take/post pics on Facebook, text, call the office, adjust the GPS, and tune-in the sound system while the bike drifts off of its intended path. It is humorous that the manufacturers charge big $$$ for these added conveniences. Thank you, Sir! MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?

We should not let a text message or a Facebook notification pressure us into looking at or using a cell phone while riding. This type of distraction can lead to a disaster. My idea of riding is to escape the electronic leash. Set the auto reply and check the phone at the next stop if needed. What would life be like without a cell phone? Sounds like freedom to me! We pay too much for cell

Page 20 www.FullThroTTle-Magazine.coM

DISTRACTIONS

phones anyway.

On board communication, devices are also available so we can hear our passengers state the obvious, remind us of assigned tasks, and generally discuss things we probably do not want to hear or talk about while riding. This device can easily distract a motorcyclist from the job at hand. Some riders may purposely crash to end the torture.

Riding is a pleasure and there is nothing better than a loud concert. However, the two should not be synonymous. Several motorcycle enthusiasts enjoy a rolling decibel contest and feel that it is their job to provide music for everyone within a two-mile radius. Wise biker’s use their hearing, in addition to sight, to quickly identify and avoid potential hazards on the road. The interference of a blaring sound system greatly inhibits this ability, which leaves the rider and nearby victims exposed to hazards. By the way, Doc’s Harley Davidson’s ride to the Black Sabbath concert a few years ago was awesome!

It can be difficult to know when to park the bike at the end of a long day, especially when we are having fun. However, the biggest distractions crop up when we have pushed ourselves too far and too long. Fatigue can affect a person’s ability to react properly. In fact, the impairment caused by drowsiness can be just as deadly as alcohol intoxication. Know when it is time to “call it a day” and stick to the plan.

Caught up in a world of their own distractions (texting), we all know most cagers have trouble seeing bikes. Naturally, this can induce anger on our part, but it is crucial to see the anger as nothing more than another diversion. Bad drivers are out there, and they are going to make us angry. We cannot let them interfere. Take the high road and set a great example, as someone who operates a powerful machine free from disturbance.

Our culture is addicted to multi-tasking. People are always trying to do two or three things at once or take shortcuts. The ride from one place to another has become more of an inconvenience than a pleasure to many riders. Use the rebellious side of our nature to disconnect from the collective (Big Brother does not like that) and embrace the true intent of riding. Keep concentration where it belongs and just enjoy the ride.
