Costello: Hey, Abbott! Abbot: Yes, Lou? Costello: I just got my first computer. Abbot: That’s great Lou. What did you get? Costello: A Pentium II-266, with 40 Megs of RAM, a 2.1 Gig hard drive, and a 24X CD-ROM. Abbot: That’s terrific, Lou. Costello: But I don’t know what any of it means!! Abbot: You will in time. Costello: That’s exactly why I am here to see you. Abbot: Oh? Costello: I heard that you are a real computer expert. Abbot: Well, I don’t knowCostello: Yes-sir-ee. You know your stuff. And you’re going to train me. Abbot: Really? Costello: Uh huh. And I am here for my first lesson. Abbot: O.K. Lou. What do want to know? Costello: I am having no problem turning it on, but I heard that you should be very careful how you turn it off. Abbot: That’s true. Costello: So, here I am working on my new computer and I want to turn it off. What do I do? Abbot: Well, first you press the Start button, and thenCostello: No, I told you, I want to turn it off. Abbot: I know, you press the Start buttonCostello: Wait a second. I want to turn it off. Off. I know how to start it. So tell me what to do. Abbot: I did. Costello: When? Abbot: When I told you to press the Start button. Costello: Why should I press the Start button? Abbot: To shut off the computer. Costello: I press Start to stop. Abbot: Well Start doesn’t actually stop the computer. Costello: I knew it! So what do I press. Abbot: Start Costello: Start what?

Abbot: Start button. Costello: Start button to do what? Abbot: Shut down. Costello: You don’t have to get rude! Abbot: No, no, no! That’s not what I meant. Costello: Then say what you mean. Abbot: To shut down the computer, pressCostello: Don’t say, “Start!” Abbot: Then what do you want me to say? Costello: Look, if I want to turn off the computer, I am willing to press the Stop button, the End button and Cease and Desist button, but no one in their right mind presses the Start to Stop. Abbot: But that’s what you do. Costello: And you probably Go at Stop signs, and Stop at green lights. Abbot: Don’t be ridiculous. Costello: I am being ridiculous? Well. I think it’s about time we started this conversation. Abbot: What are you talking about? Costello: I am starting this conversation right now. Good-bye.

PRAY BEFORE EVERY MEAL

Two guys are walking through a game park & they come across a lion that has not eaten for days. The lion starts chasing the two men. They run as fast as they can and the one guy starts getting tired and decides to say a prayer, “Please turn this lion into a Christian, Lord.” He looks to see if the lion is still chasing and he sees the lion on its knees. Happy to see his prayer answered, he turns around and heads towards the lion. As he comes closer to the lion, he hears the it saying a prayer: “Thank you Lord for the food I am about to receive.” www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is a lot more than just a motorcycle ride. It will test your mental and physical strength, endurance, and will power. Many people will attempt the ride but only a few will hit the finish line. The 2016 Hoka Hey challenge is approximately 11,000 miles of mostly two lane backroads starting at the Pala Indian Resort and Casino on the Pala Indian Reservation on the West Coast of Southern California and then cruise the back roads of numerous States within our great nation. This route will wind through multiple National Parks, Reservations and scenic routes. This year’s route will extend from the West Coast to the East Coast, touching the northern and southern boundaries of the United States and finish at a very familiar stop; Wolf’s Run in the heart of the Seneca Indian Nation (Irving, NY). You will have to get use to sleeping next to your bike under the stars, and not having a phone or GPS unit to direct you. You have to be able to navigate yourself with the map they give you. Organizers, Jim Red Cloud and Beth Durham, created this endurance ride hoping the ride would help raise money and awareness for eight named charities, which include veterans’ and Native American causes and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. They have done just that. I had the privilege of interviewing David Peters, a man that is 62 years old and has spent thousands of dollars out of his own pocket to attend the 2016 Hoka Hey ride and is also taking 3 weeks’ non-paid time off of work for this event. He is very excited to give this ride a go and to help raise money for the charity of his choice which is the Pine Ridge Chamber of Commerce in Sturgis, SD. David knows this will not be an easy ride to accomplish but he is confident that he can do it. He has done many long distance rides in the past. David heard about the Hoka Hey ride a few years back and has been interested ever since. Also seeing bikers with the Hoka Hey patch sparked an interest in him. So he decided to go on the internet and see what it was all about. Ever since then he has been very interested in this ride. This is his first year attending the ride and he has put in a lot of hard work to attend the ride. Then comes the even harder part which is completing the ride. But Full Throttle Magazine has faith in him, we know he can do it. He will be filming the ride with go pro cameras and will be having a friend upload the videos to his Facebook page which is David Peters. (The one with NPB Security next to his name) So everyone can stay tuned to his journey to complete the Hoka Hey challenge. We at Full Throttle Magazine wish him good luck and a safe journey. Page 18

The Lake of the Ozarks is not just a place to go for all you water lovers. It’s a destination for those land lovers too. The rolling hills and the gorgeous country sides make it worth while for a visit. This is exactly what Dan Laubach thought when he had an opportunity to purchase a piece of land smack in the middle of those Ozark Hills right off Hwy TT. He wanted to create an awesome venue that will cater to all ages. Dan is no stranger to fun and entertainment. Owning Franky & Louie’s and Deer Valley Park Campground at the Lake of the Ozarks, gave him the advantage on what to do to provide a fun and exciting atmosphere. When Dan purchased this property, he set his plan in motion and Picklehead’s Roadhouse was born. Dan made a choice, this was not going to be your typical hot spot of entertainment; it was going to be better. It will offer an amphitheater, the Slick Pickle 560-foot Dual Zip Line, a burnout pit and amazing food prepared by one of the best chefs at the lake, Carter from Taterhoggz Swine & Spiritz. They first opened their doors in the late summer of 2014 just in time for Bikefest in September. That was one of the places to be that year. This will be their third bikefest for one of their planned events and the only one that you must be at least 21 years of age, so be prepared for an amazing ride. They general open for the season in May and close for the season right after Bikefest in September. Picklehead’s Roadhouse is an Events Venue. They are not typically open to the public all through out the season. Being that they really strive to be a part of the Lake Community, they know the importance of catering to all ages. They will host all sorts of privately planned event through the season as well as their own events, a couple times a month. Those events will be open to the general public. They will host weddings, Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts functions, Birthday Parties, you name it; even if you have a group of 15-20 people or more and you want a place to go and hang out for the day and enjoy great food and riding that 560-foot zip line, just give them at least a 24-hour advance notice and they’ll have everything set and ready to go. From burgers to bratwursts to PB & J’s; from a cold brewski to Cola’s, Picklehead’s has it all. At their own planned events they will bring all sorts of big name in for your entertainment; such as Brett Michaels, Dustin Lynch, Goat and the Full Throttle Saloon Gang all the way from Sturgis to name a few. Ride in Bike Shows, Mud Wrestling and Wet T-Shirt Contests will always keep it interesting. So, needless to say, Picklehead’s Roadhouse is not only friendly to all ages, but Biker friendly as well. So the next time you want to plan a party function at the Lake of the Ozarks, give Picklehead’s Roadhouse a call and let them help you plan the party of a life time. If you like to go to Sturgis, then you’ll love coming here. Why not enjoy the Sturgis Party of the Midwest all season long. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Emily’s

Hi Full Throttle readers. I am very honored to write

such a special article about a such a very special young woman, Emily Linneman. Talk about a bad ass, and a true fighter, Emily was all that and a lot more. At the age of 17 she has fought harder than a lot of adults would in their entire lives. In 2010 Emily lost her father to leukemia. This was just the start of her battle. In June of 2012, Emily started having weird pains in her left leg. She went to the doctor to find out the horrific news. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma; a very aggressive bone cancer that was in her left leg. Her and her mom were shocked. All her mom could think was “WHY”; why would this happen to my innocent baby girl? Doctors needed to act quickly to try and keep the cancer from spreading. They told her that there was a better chance of saving her if they amputated her leg along with 6 months of weekly chemotherapy. After much thought, she came to terms with this new reality. As resilient as she was, she turned this into a positive. With a passion for sports, especially basketball, Emily knew she would eventually be able to get a prosthetic leg and play sports again. Unfortunately, there were complications; the amputation did not heal well leaving Emily’s medical team to perform a revision surgery, which took many months to heal, delaying any opportunity to introduce prosthetics for almost a year. Finally, she received her new prosthetic leg and nothing was going to slow her down, not one bit. She quickly learned how to use her new leg. Before her family knew it, she was was able to run at the gym. She never got strong enough to actually run and play full on in a game again. The Northstars made her dream come true by letting her walk/play in one last game last year in September. A few months down the road she started to have horrible pains in her other leg. She went to the doctor and he said that it was probably just because she was compensating for her amputated leg. But the pain didn’t stop. She kept having horrible pain, often at night time. This frightened her and her mom because they knew that the tumor pains would often happen at night. So they went back to the doctor and demanded an MRI, and that’s when they found out that she had another tumor in her right leg. She did not want to have both her legs amputated so they decided to have leg saving surgery to remove the tumor along with 6 months of heavy chemotherapy again. About a month later, the doctors told Emily and her family the cancer was in remission. Within the following months, they found out it had come back and spread to her lungs. She had surgery to remove those tumors from her lungs, to discover even more to remove. Soon after her latest surgery, she started having bad pains in her

hip, finding the tumors had spread to her pelvic area as well. For obvious reasons, they could not remove her pelvis, forcing the doctors to tell her that there wasn’t much more they could do, as she was on chemo and it was still spreading. The doctor told Emily and her mom that she needed to start her bucket list; which honestly, she didn’t think to have one. It’s so scary, I can’t imagine that feeling Emily felt. But, she was a true fighter; she didn’t give up. So her and her family started making a bucket list.

The first two things on her bucket list was to ride a motorcycle, and get a tattoo; that she did. She went to a local tattoo shop in Wentzville and got a large tattoo on her back. She loved it!!! She quickly got a second tattoo of a Cardinal on her forearm in remembrance of her daddy from Dave Canoy at the “Ink Spot”. Her Aunt Beth had also been planning what they thought was just going to be a little motorcycle ride. Little to their surprise, it didn’t quite work out the way they planned. We all know bikers love to help as much as they can for a good cause like this one. They ended up having 200 motorcycles or more show up for this ride. Emily was so happy!!! This group of bikers and Emily and her family had an instant connection. They all fell in love with each other. After Emily welcoming the bikers into her home for a big Halloween party and BBQ, they all became like family. Might I add, that Emily wasn’t just any average 17-year-old, she fit right in with the bikers. She loved tattoos, motorcycles, and rock music. Like I said before she is a true badass!! Next up on her bucket list, she wanted a little baby pig, which of course she got. They named the pig hamlet and he quickly became part of this amazing family. Emily loved this little guy so much. I have to admit I have always wanted a baby pig; so cool! Then Emily and her mom were talking one day and Emily said “I need to get married.” So that she did, she married the love of her life, Jake. They had met awhile back at a bowling alley and it was love at first sight. Jake knew about all her medical issues and that didn’t deter him one bit; he was in love. He would do anything for her. He wanted to get married to her as well. With less than three weeks of planning and having Dave Canoy as the Officiant, Emily had the wedding of her dreams. Her family told me, it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to; it was like a fairytale wedding. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

Page 31

Emily wanted to get something very special for her husband for his wedding present. She really wanted to get him a Harley Davidson. So Emily and her family talked to Dave Canoy, the owner of the Ink Spot Tattoo, where she got her tattoo. He found her a Harley Davidson Fat Boy. Knowing that her husband has always wanted to own a Harley, she was so excited to give this bike to her husband for the wedding present. Jake was on cloud nine to receive this amazing surprise. There was one gift that Emily kept as a secret. She was offered a new car from a friend for a wedding gift. By the time she was to receive it, she had lost all control of her legs and was unable to drive. She asked if she could give that car to her mother as a birthday gift. Emily was able to surprise her mother at that Halloween party. Emily passed away December 12th, 2015. Her family and friends got together and created a poker ride for Emily calling it “Emily’s Ride.” She wanted to help other cancer children so badly. This is why they created the Ride. The funds are donated to local children to help with medical supplies not covered by insurance, or to provide fun family events for them. This is when Mike Czerniewski the owner of the Jammer Joint motorcycle shop, told Emily’s family, he wanted to take the bike and do some special work for Jake and then reveal the bike at the beginning of the poker run. She would have been so excited. The bike turned out amazing!!! She really was a great person who was taken from this world way too soon. She will be in our thoughts forever and will never be forgotten by her family and her new founded biker friends. She will be forever loved and forever missed by a lot of people. Everyone I talk to that knew her says they are a better person today because they knew Emily. Over 100 people have gotten the “Fists Up and Fight like Emily’s tattoo in remembrance of her through the Ink Spot and Jammer Joint. I believe her fight and her story will touch a lot of people’s lives. If you ever want to find out the definition of a fighter just look up Emily Linneman or just visit the website www.emilysride. org and you will have it. She never gave up for one second, she kept on fighting till her last breath. Rest in Peace Emily Linneman. May 16th, 1998 – December 12th, 2015 We at Full Throttle Magazine want to give a special thanks to all the people who donated money or donated their time and love to help Emily and her family.

“MILITARY How’s it going Full Throttle readers, Zach White here to give you the latest and greatest info from St. Charles Harley-Davidson. Hope you enjoy this article and looking forward too many more to come all year long! The weather has been a little hot for us here in the mid west but I will take it over the cold and salted roads that come with it. Don’t miss out on our bike night the first Thursday of every month. July bike night is for our Military and that is also why I picked this amazing bike to be featured this month. This month I will be talking about the all new Harley-Davidson Slim S. The olive gold denim paint and tank badge stands out and gives it the start of an amazing machine. The complete blacked out look gives it the attitude it needs and flows perfect with this bike. They added power to the heart of the bike with a Screamin’ Eagle Air-Cooled Twin Cam 110B engine. The power of this small stealth bike is amazing. For the long ride Harley equipped this bike with cruise control. Yep thats right everyone, cruise control on a Softail. From the factory Harley did a great job with all its add-ons but like we also do we had give it that St. Charles Harley-Davidson styling. This bike is rolling on a pair of Ride Wright fat 50 spoke rims. We went with a 21” front and 18” rear all gloss black with chrome nipples to give it the perfect finish. Wrapped around these awesome wheels are Metzeler ME 888 marathons. These tires will give you miles of fun and grip the road in every corner. Page 34

“life def

elcome back Full Throttle readers and riders! The summer heat has set in after running off all the rain and has given way to a very warm 2016 riding season! It seems our St. Louis area and our friends across the river have a bike night just about every night of the week but word on the streets is that St. Charles Harley Davidson and Big St Charles Motorsports have really brought a BIG game this year! With everything from the high flying FMX stunts, to the pit bike stunt area, the guys from the Rizz show and 105.7 The Point, not to mention plenty of hot half naked women running around I asked myself “what more could we really offer”? Simple really! I give you the American MotorDrome Wall Of Death! Now some of you have had a chance to check out one of these motordromes, I was able to catch Rhett Rotten at The Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest, and it was amazing! Little did I know that I would get a very intimate and up close and personal with the carnival life style that is the wall of death only a few years later! What is the wall of death? Well it’s more a cylinder of death than a wall to be honest. It’s a throwback to the early days of amazing bravery mixed with skill and very little common sense and zero fear. These people are a special breed of human being but before we talk about them let’s talk about the history and the art that is the Motordrome. The wall of death had many names in the early days, the Motordrome, Silodrome, or the well of death. Doesn’t matter what ya called it all that matters is that it derived directly from United States motorcycle board track racing in the early 1900s. Later the very first carnival Motordrome appeared at the Coney Island amusement park in 1911. Needless to say it was a hit! So much so that by 1930 the pinnacle of the Motordromes had hit their stride and had more than 100 walls either in place or traveling the US with side shows and Carnivals! Unfortunately with today’s distractions in the form of, Iphones, tablets, video games, politics and reality television the ways of this old art have been to lost to the winds of time..that is until now. Watching the 18 wheeler roll in with the American Motordrome Wall of Death was impressive. One assumes the Motordrome just appears as if from thin air? But the truth is the performers are also the laborers! Not one piece of this 110 year old bit of history is assembled with a power tool or assisted in anyway other than good ole hard work, elbow grease and pure will to complete what seemed to be an impossible task. Oh, and did I mention they normally get the wall erected between four people in about nine hours? Yeah nine!! It would seem they risk their lives before they actually have the chance to risk their lives to entertain the masses that have arrived to watch the show! The walls themselves stand fourteen feet tall, is thirty foot in circumference and roughly 16 tons of wood making it one of the biggest walls still in use today! I’m sure there is some science involving centrifugal force and friction that keeps these bikes stuck to the wall at speed but to be honest I just don’t care…it’s just plain cool to watch! One might

Page 38

fying death”

think they run modern bikes but that’s not the case all the bikes are pre 1950 Indians and Harleys! Yep that’s right, these bikes are half the age of the wall! And while we are talking age let’s talk a bit about the performers. The AMWD features one of the world’s oldest wall riders. Good ole “Wallie” is sixty five years young and still performs at every show!! Charlie isn’t much younger and truly takes his passion seriously, “Reckless Rita” runs a homemade go cart on the wall and then there’s Hobo. Hobo hasn’t been with the crew long, in fact he started wall riding in January! He started were the history started in flat track and basically hired himself onto the crew with threats of never leaving the old guys alone until they did so! All four of these human beings are truly amazing in so many rights! The hard work and effort it takes to make this show happen is mind boggling. I decided that on the last day Id chip in with some of our other employees and help the guys tear down the wall. So glad that I did, only a handful of people in this world can say they have had a hand in that! We sat down to take a break and in true old world fashion Charlie picks up his homemade banjo made of old Harley parts and a rare Gibson pickup and starts strumming and telling stories over the plucking he was doing. It felt as if I was transported back in time. I was truly honored to simply just be there in their presence. If you every get the chance to see these guys perform do it! It is truly as amazing as they are. Thanks for stopping by and yall enjoy the ride! I’d like to take a quick second to thank Kyle, Dan and Super Dave for their efforts put forth and helping the crew of the AMWD

--GOIN HARLEY DAVIDSON LIVE WIRE CONC After feedback over the past two years from customers test riding the Harley Davidson Live Wire prototype electric motorcycle at dealerships throughout the United States, a great enough of a positive response has led to Harley’s Senior VP, Sean Cummings, announcing the concept to be developed into the real deal for production to come within the next five years. The Live Wire prototype is powered by 74 HP and 52 lb-ft of torque. The frame is milled aluminum to reduce shine, and feels rough to the touch. Completely for aesthetics, there is a tank that resembles that of the XLR Sportster 1200 Roadster, and the belt drive looks similar fitting on a Sportster too, but other than that, this bike is absolutely different in appearance to anything designed by Harley. With the lighter metal as a contributing factor, the bike accelerates from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds, and no torque is lost at highway speeds. Not to mention that instant torque makes for wonderful launching from a dead stop. The throttle is enabled to roll both forward and backward from neutral; in which accelerates harder when back. Even with its electronically restricted top speed of 92 mph, this would make an alright track bike. The body is built to be able to sit and have a sensation of becoming part of the motorcycle. It is a bit short, and there’s plenty of ground clearance. The bike does not have any chrome, and there is no room for bags or a passenger. Just like Harley’s V-Twin engines, the designers have highlighted this engine as its main feature. It is to be the heart of this motorcycles design, rather than designing around a big black battery box. One of the key aspects to Harley owners is the distinct vibrations experienced at full rev braaap, and even with straight pipes at idle. You’re not going to get that with this electric motorcycle.

Written By Tami Aguilera NG LIVE-CEPT MOTORCYCLE FOR PRODUCTION

It’s silent at a standstill. But…. the unique sound architecturally developed by Harley’s engineers is strikingly similar to the piercing sound of a damn fighter jet turbine. People will hear you coming and possibly fear being the target of a bomb till they figure out it’s you flying by them on a bike instead. The Live Wire currently has a range of battery charge to only sustain 53 miles of travel. With no clutch or shifting, this bike is more conventional for a city commuter to get to work or school wiggling through stop and go traffic since the motorcycle is designed to slow down with regenerative braking by having the throttle in neutral. The concept bike uses a 300-Volt battery like most of the recent electric cars on the market, and takes approximately 3.5 hours for a full charge from completely drained. Harley would need to choose to go with either the standard 120V cord or the electric car standard J-1772 when producing the one to be for sale. The electric motorcycle will need some tweaking in order to meet the desired needs for production. To start with, Harley says they will not produce a motorcycle with less than 100 miles of travel range. With the need for more battery means the need for more space, so the concept bikes longitudinally mounted motor isn’t going to work out. They’re going to have to build a smaller sized motor so it’s still practical to be ridden, yet not lose the power customers expect. For a company whose image has been branded over the years with the mentality of knees in the breeze, having freedom of the road, and cross country riding to take the edge off; this particular motorcycle sure does contradict everything the previous generations of riders have grown accustomed to. Harley is going to be forced to go back to the drawing board and alter what customers have given such acceptable feedback on. www.FullThrottle-Magazine.com

THE VICTORIOUS COME BACK In 2014, after Angelle Sampey had been retired from racing due to no longer having a team or sponsor and to start a family, her former crew chief George Bryce needed a driver and hit her up first thing. Having worked together in the past, and with her 41 time wins, he knew they’d be a good match again. Just three races in, Angelle tore tendons in her ankle. She wouldn’t be able to race again until February 2015 per doctors orders. Upon returning, the injury affected her ability to steer her motorcycle. She thought her career was once again over, but in the off season Bryce and the crew designed and built her a Buell motorcycle to cater to her struggles. This year at the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, Angelle Sampey raced her first Pro Stock Motorcycle victory since 2007. Back in the winner’s circle after 9 years; she takes home her 4th Wally from E-Town, tying her with former team mate John Meyers and Dave Schultz for most wins in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Holding at .200 off the starting line and out running Jerry Savoie by .500; she accomplished her 42nd career victory of a 6.876 second pass at 194.41 mph. Savoie had 6.928 @177.21 mph. When being presented the Wally, she grabs the microphone jumping for joy to celebrate to her little girl who inspired the racing bug again. “I want to tell my little girl Ava, Mommy finally won! Mommy won the real one Ava!” -- “I know it’s 42 wins, but I swear to God, it feels like the very first win ever.” Angelle Sampey won three straight Summernationals finals from 19982000, and her 42 victories are the most by a female NHRA driver and second highest total by a Pro Stock motorcyclist.
