East Delmar is a Midwest based Rock Band that has just released their debut album titled “The Art of Being Indifferent”. The duo of Kevin David Cunningham (Vocals) and Randy Evans (Guitar) have been playing music together since 2010. You can catch them on their Midwest tour this summer wrapping things up at The “Runway Loud” National Fashion Show in Branson MO on August 15th, 2015.
Alexis Fuwell, a Midwest based singer has made plenty of noise racking up thousands of plays on soundcloud in less than a month. The singer/actress/model teamed up with songwriter/producer, Randy Evans, to record her first EP. It’s set to be released in August. Stretched Bags, Side Panels and Fender with Flush mounted lights When looking into converting to a stretched look on the back end of your bagger, there are many options. There is fiberglass, plastic, and even metal. Whatever you decide to use, make sure to choose all of your products for the conversion from the same company. This will help insure a good fit. Also be aware of the quality of the parts you buy. Sometimes you get what you pay for. When installing parts for our customers we use Curry Customs products. Their products are made of quality fiberglass. We choose fiberglass because it allows us to give a custom fit to our customers exhaust. When we install the bags and fender, we mold it around the exhaust. This gives it a custom fit to your exhaust. Almost every bag and fender produced comes with a generic cut out for exhaust.
Slide the fender into place on the rear of the bike and bolt it up. You may have to loosen the exhaust and push it out of the way. Make sure that the fender is set straight and lines up with the tire. Check all clearances. On bikes prior to 2009 with detachable mount kits, you will need to cut holes in the fender side panels to allow the bracket to come through. Now you can install the saddlebags. If you are using the stretched side panels, they will need to be attached to your stock panels and then installed. Make sure everything lines up and has good clearance. Now if you’re going to install flush mounted LED lights, you need to determine what style and where you’re going to locate them. When we install them we use Hi Tech LED flush mount lights and install them into the side panels of the rear fender. THE FARMER’S DAUGHTERS
There once was a farmer who was raising 3 daughters on his own. He was very concerned about their well being and always did his best to watch out for them. As they entered their late teens the girls dated, and on this particular evening all three of his girls were going out on a date. This was the first time this had occurred. you remember the Chevrolet VEGA? It was a sub-compact car that you saw a ton of in the early to mid-1970’s. Between the years 1971-1977, Chevy produced a variety of body styles; 2-door Hatchback, Notchback, Wagon, and a Panel Delivery. All of which came with the Mighty inline fourcylinder engine. My favorite was the Panel Delivery. Although in 1975 they also offered a Cosworth VEGA. Which also had a 4 cylinder but was all-aluminum 122 cubic inches with DOHC. Only 5000 of those engines were made. The VEGA received praise and awards including the 1971 Motor Trend Car of the Year. As the years went by, problems started to appear; the engineering, reliability, safety, rust, and believe it or not ENGINE durability. If you follow GM at all you still hear the name Bill Mitchell. He was vice-president of design staff and was chief stylist. You have to wonder if he designed these cars for what so many Hot Rodders and Racers had in mind. The available engines, if you were lucky enough to own a ’71, were a 90 HP @4,400 rpm & 136

Muscle C “It’s Just lb-ft torque @2,400 rpm. Or an optional 110 HP @4,800 rpm & 138 lb-ft torque @ 3,200 rpm. But as the years went by you saw a drastic change to the lowest HP in 1976 at only 70 HP. For the last year in production it went back up to an Outstanding 84 Horse Power. Although Chevrolet was testing several different types of engines they had a special one that was not very well known. In July 1972 Hot Rod tested it out; it was a Prototype Vega fitted with an all-aluminum V8. The last of several 283 cu in (4.6 L) units used in the “CERV I” research & development vehicle. It was bored out to 302 cu in, high compression, “097 Duntov” cam, cast iron intake, and Quadrojet carb. With a stock Turbo, stock Vega rear end, and street tires it ran a sub-14 second quarter mile. Now that’s more like it! And that is exactly what Ron Conroy has been thinking about for years. Ron has been into race cars for as long as I’ve known him. I can’t think of a time when he hasn’t been talking about getting a VEGA to go racing. He also owns a very well-known Monte Carlo, and if you know Ron, you most likely know what the Monte Carlo’s tail lights look like. He loves Small Blocks so don’t even

He ended up finding one out of state and was willing to pay for it. He loaded up his trailer and grabbed a hand full of cash and headed out of town. This was it, the one he was waiting for. Unfortunately the seller didn’t quite understand the art of negotiation. Just as Ron was getting back into his truck to leave “without” the car; the seller realized that Ron was serious and a deal was struck. Ron left with the car in tow.

The body and paint on the car was starting to show its age but Ron didn’t want to re-do the whole car, so he brought me, “Showcar Specialist”, just the frontend to restore. I smoothed out the rough edges and painted it for a nice shine and less drag going down the track. The slick paint and all of the improvements Ron made must have worked because the 1st time out this year it already ran 10.08 at 132mph. Like Ron always says: It’s Just a Race Car!!!
This 1972 Vega had been built into a full-on race car years ago but there is nothing wrong with Old School technology. He raced the Vega pretty much as is the 1st year with the best time of 10.35 @129mph. Over this past winter Ron did some changes to the car and he rebuilt the SBC. He knows SBC very well; I have one of his in my car too. The Vega now sports a 383 Stroker with 14.1 compression, “Dart” PRO1 heads, Comp roller cam, “Eagle” H-beam rods, forged “Eagle” crankshaft and topped with a 750 “Demon” carb. To get the Launch just right he has a Trans Brake with a 2-step, “TCI” 4800 rpm stall convertor in a Turbo 350 transmission spinning the driveshaft rather quickly to the “Dana” 60 rear end with 4:56 gears. With the Rack & Pinion steering and coil-over shocks the car handles real well even with the huge slicks in the modified rear wheel openings.

We have all heard, “April Showers Bring May Flowers”. In our area of the Midwest its more like, “May Tornadoes Bring Hail The Size of Potatoes!”. There is always a risk of being caught in the rain while riding. However, the weather related risks in our area of the United States are a lot more than a shower. Hail can fall at over 100 mph and I have had the pleasure of riding in it (with helmet) until I quickly found cover. Wet roads provide interesting safety hazards also. How can we minimize these risks and ensure a safe ride?
Weather Technology Always check the weather report before riding. Meteorology has made huge advances in the last couple of years due to technology and computer generated models. The internet has many websites to reference for an up to date, on the spot weather forecast. I usually use www.weather.gov, www.weather.com or www.weatherunderground.com. There is no guarantee that the report will be 100% accurate. This is why they call it a “Forecast”. Doctors “Practice” medicine and we still trust them to some degree. It is a good idea to check the weather forecasts for all areas of a motorcycle ride’s route. It may be sunny and clear in St Louis while Farmington is battin’ down the hatches for a storm on a northwest to southeast track. Smart phones also have the ability to provide on the spot weather forecasts using the internet and applications. I just downloaded an app for my phone called “My Radar”. There are many choices and all of which will keep you informed. Pay close attention to the weather by checking it periodically while out on a ride and plan to take cover in advance of a weather event. How many of us have witnessed riders fail at an attempt to outrun a storm? It is usually too late if there are big black clouds on the horizon. Slippery When Wet There are slippery surfaces and traps on many parts of the road during and following a rain event. We need to identify these hazards and avoid them because an out of control slide on two wheels
is the opposite of our objective. Not to mention, it just looks retarded and ruins everyones day. Rubber surfaces at railroad crossings and painted lines, signs and crosswalks on road surfaces can be challenging. Metal surfaces such as railroad rails, bridge grates, metal plates and manhole covers can catch us off guard also. Keep the bike straight up and turn slowly over these types of surfaces. Puddles, Ruts and Tires Avoid puddles, they may be much deeper than expected. A puddle can easily grab the front tire of a motorcycle (hydroplane), throw it off balance and change its path of travel. Ride in the path of the tire trails left by vehicles in front of you since it will be the area on the road with the least amount of water on it. Another option is to ride the middle of the road to avoid the lakes left by years of tire ruts. Make sure riders increase distance to give everyone room to avoid hazards and stop if needed. Never ride a motorcycle with low tread or bald tires on wet roads. There is no possible way to maintain a traction patch if your tires are unable to disperse water. Hydroplaning is unavoidable without traction and the motorcycle will fall. Wind A constant side wind and gusts can be a challenge to the most experienced rider and it can easily take a motorcycle off of the road. Lean into the wind to maintain position. Keep the motorcycle on the side of the lane that the wind is blowing from. This will leave extra room for the motorcycle to stay on the road if a big blast of wind moves the motorcycle over a bit. A group of riders should be riding single file in heavy winds. Spring is always a challenge for motorcycle riders. It is always a gamble when the weather forecast shows a 50% chance of thunderstorms. Don’t let the weather keep you off the road. Stay vigilant through modern technology to avoid weather related hazards and enjoy a fantastic ride!
