Journey Groups These Small Groups reflect the Discipleship model of The Class Meeting created and designed by John Wesley, founding father of Methodism. Members commit to journey together in a covenantal relationship with God and with one another to deepen their faith in Christ and grow as a disciple. Formational Opportunities Sunday Morning Formation Group All ages Caring deeply for its members, this class reads and shares insights gleaned from traditional Christian writers and scholars offering a variety of topics related to Christian practice as disciples of Jesus Christ. Meets at 9:45 am in The Center for Spiritual Formation Participants may join at any time for Christian Formation Studies lasting 6-8 weeks. Contact: Carolyn McDowell or Rev. Liz Wyatt
In-Depth Introductory Bible Studies Covenant Bible Study This new and innovative introductory Bible study guides participants in a comprehensive in-depth study of the whole Bible in 24 weeks. Unlike other Bible studies, Covenant emphasizes the Biblical concept of God’s covenant as a unifying pattern in scripture connecting the Old and New Testament. This study also provides for a meditative way of reading scripture and offers an app for downloading lessons. Divided into three 8-week segments, this study allows for scheduing flexibility: Session I October 5 - November 23 Session II January 4 - February 22 Session III March 1 - April 26 Meets in A.B. 107, from 9:40 - 10:40 am Facilitated by Nancy Dumas Disciple II Bible Study A 32-week study concentrating on Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts. Because the readings are less extensive than Disciple I, there is more time for reflection and greater in-depth study. Aldersgate
Ages 45+ Using a variety of materials, this class engages in lively discussions offering a variety of views as they wrestle with scripture and what is means for Christians today. Meets in A.B. Room 106
Colloquium
Ages 55+ This class enjoys hospitality and fellowship and studies special topics, as well as series relating scripture to life and the world today. Meets in C.B. Colloquium Room, behind Aldrich Chapel
Community
Ages 35+ This class uses scripture-based studies and other resources that focus on growth in faith and ways one can draw closer to God. Community provides opportunities for Christian fellowship, social events and community service projects. Meets in 3rd floor S.B. Celebration Room (across from elevator) 6
Cornerstone
Ages 35+ This class studies scripture from a very practical, “What does this mean for how I am to live?� with a focus on community needs and the desire to respond to those needs in a Christian fashion. Meets in S.B. 305
Covenant
Ages 60+ Focuses on the Adult Bible Studies series with a lecture/ discussion format. Meets in A.B. 115
Foundations
Ages 20-30, couples Primarily aimed at young couples that are married, engaged, or dating, and looking to strengthen their faith in Christ and gain new friendships. Meets in S.B. L10
Good News
All Ages Lecture and discussion on topical studies, seasonal studies, and bible studies concentrating on books of the Bible and prominent biblical personalities. Meets in Aldrich Chapel 7
Keystone
Ages 40+ Strives to increase biblical knowledge and spiritual practice through Bible study as well as addressing current issues from a Christian perspective. Meets in S.B. L08
Men’s Heritage
Men of All Ages A small, informal group using the Adult Bible Studies series and biblical teachings as it relates to daily life. Meets in A.B. 118 - Adult Parlor
Milestone
Ages 30 - 40 Individuals and couples with young families focusing on strengthening their relationship with God, each other, their families and community through Bible study, fellowship, and missions. Meets in S.B. 308
The Other 6 Days
All Ages A very informal class that typically uses TED Talks to encourage open-minded conversation relating to daily life with the goal of abundant living. Meets in S.B. L12 8
Perspectives
Ages 20 - 30 Young adults struggling with questions of postmodern Christianity through scripture, study, discussion, and mission work in the community. Meets in S.B. 303
Rings ‘n’ Ivy
Ages 55+ Engaging in studies both religious and secular, the class cares deeply for its members, serves actively in the community and offers an active social calendar. Rings ‘n’ Ivy celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014. Meets in S.B. L04
The Seekers
All Ages This class focuses on supportive Christian community and fellowship as they journey together through faith sharing, bible study, discussion and community outreach. Meets in S.B. L02
Sisters in Spirit
Women of ALl Ages A community of ladies joining together with a common goal to grow in Christ and in the Holy Spirit through prayer, Bible study, fellowship and mission. Meets in A.B. 113

Join us as we prepare and enjoy a spectacular meal while we read and share insights from the writings of Brother Lawrence, a 17th Century lay brother who practiced the presence of God in the kitchen. UMW Book Study
Reading Love is a Headscarf, by Shelina Janmohamed, this study offers insight into modern-day Muslim culture. Special Events Women’s Retreat
Do you know the depth of God’s love for you? Is your heart longing to be healed and known by God? Come fall in love with the God that lives in, among, and around us. St. Joseph Abbey, Covington, LA March 20 - 22, save the date! Cost is $185, retreat ends Sunday after lunch
Silent Retreat
Is God calling you to experience the beauty of the earth in a restful, peaceful environment? Do you hunger for a deeper relationship with God? Retreat days consist of worship and brief communal gatherings. Guided meditations will set the tone for silence and prayer. Contemplative Worship, Taize
Taize worship is an ecumenical type of worship, meaning it reaches people worldwide. It originated in the small village of Taize, which lies in the southern part of Burgundy, France, by a monk named Roger Louis SchutzMarsauche. Since its founding, the practice has spread worldwide and seeks to unite all in the love of Christ. The peaceful, contemplative nature of this service, expressed in song, nurtures the soul. Spiritual Direction Spritual Direction is a ministry of hospitality and Christian companionship focusing on personal spiritual growth and relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Participants meet once a month with a trained UMC spiritual director.
