“PATRICIA MARY” STRANDED, NEAR LAKE GILLEAR, GREAT OCEAN ROAD, VICTORIA. The Patricia Mary was adrift for two days, before running aground against rock and cliffs about 20 minutes from Warrnambool on the Shipwreck Coast. She has never been recovered.

JOHANNA BEACH Beaches are quiet and remote during winter, so you have them to yourself. Between Glenaire and Lavers Hill is Johanna Beach, with enormous crashing surf, craggy little rock coves and a winding beach line to explore

FUN FACT Point Franklin is at the southernmost point in Western Victoria after Apollo Bay. It’s an undiscovered little hideaway covering about four kilometres of rugged and rocky shoreline dotted with small beaches and bays.

SECRET WILDLIFE The forests and waterways are home to wallabies, koalas and platypuses, whilst butterflies and parrots reside in the treetop canopies. Our best kept secret is the scattering of glow worms that can be seen at night.

RAINFORESTS AND WOODLANDS Just three hours south-west from Melbourne, the Otways are home to the Great Otway National Park, Otway Forest Park and multiple marine sanctuaries. You’ll discover a mix of woodland and dense rainforest with deep gullies, towering trees, ferns, rocks and moss, with waterfalls, rivers and creeks everywhere. Park and view or walk along dozens of kilometres of trails.

HOPETOUN FALLS A little off the beaten track is Hopetoun Falls with a gigantic 30 metre plummet. You can take in the view from an upper platform just 20 metres from the car park or descend the 200 stairs that wind through the tree ferns to the base of the falls.

HENDERSON FALLS, VICTORIA. This is one of the less popular waterfalls near Lorne, Victoria. It needs to be partially wet for this waterfall to run the way it was on this day. Magic.

CREEPY TREE, COLAC, VICTORIA. I see this particular tree every time I head to the Great Ocean Road, located near Colac, right beside the road. The great thing about this image is cars driving on the road next to it, illuminate it to give just enough detail.

BLUE MOUNTAINS SUNSET, NSW I would say that this image is perhaps my luckiest. On this particular day I’d walked about 15km around the breathtaking Blue Mountains. After shooting a handful of waterfalls I finished up looking over this anonymous waterfall (no name). I set my camera to timer mode, taking an image every second and walked back for a ‘behind the scenes’ shot. When I looked back, this thoughtful cockatoo had landed to perfectly complete this very Australian landscape composition.

MILKY WAY AT LINCOLN'S ROCK, BLUE MOUNTAINS, NSW. The very early, very cold mornings are one of the hardest parts of being obsessed with capturing the beauty of Australia. For this shot I rolled out of my van at 2am to watch the wonder of the Milky Way rising in all its glory, over the Blue Mountains.

MAN ON A VAN, GREAT OCEAN ROAD, VICTORIA. This Mazda Campervan was my mobile home for my Australian roadtrip, for 18 months or so. While to took me to very special places across the country, it also provided the subject for its own special images. FUN FACT Of all the peaks in the Great Dividing Range, the Snowy Mountains contains the tallest of them, including Mt Kosciuszko, the highest mountain in Australia at 2228 metres above sea level.

FUN FACT There are very few regions in Australia that experience pronounced seasonal changes. The Snowy Mountains is one of them. In Winter you are advised to prepare well and consult local authorities and forecasts before venturing out.

HORSEHEAD ROCK, WALLAGA LAKE, NSW. Having travelled to this place several times, Horsehead Rock in Wallaga Lake is one of those places that captivates me. It looks beautiful in all light and is a must see if you’re in the area, though you need to be mindful of the tides which can make it a more challenging walk.

STAIRS TO PARADISE, PORT NOARLUNGA, SA. Whether shooting from the top, half way down or closer to the bottom. It doesn’t matter. The beach views from here are some of the best in South Australia. I am pursuing a wider series of images from different points on these stairs.

“PISCES STAR”, CARPENTER ROCKS, SA. The Pisces Star shipwreck is a isolated place on the South Australian coastline. A short drive from Mount Gambier, this spot has slowly become more popular with photographers. With the right sunset, you can capture something special.

“PORT WILLUNGA PINKS”, PORT WILLUNGA JETTY, SA. The old Port Willunga jetty would have to be some of the most photographed sticks in the world for obvious reasons. This place is truly iconic with South Australians and most nights you’ll see a number of people taking photos here from different points.

“MILANG DREAMS”, MILANG, SA. Milang is one of those hidden gem locations in South Australia and a place I love to visit when I just want to escape! This image blends the jetty with the sky, creating a dream like image of soft clouds and colours.

“PADDLE BOARDER”, HENLEY BEACH, SA. The sunset on the evening was absolutely amazing. I imagine for this guy paddling out into the sunset, he had one of the best views. The golden glow on the water and the sky was incredible.

FERRIS WHEEL, GLENELG BEACH, SA. The Ferris Wheel at Glenelg Beach is a fantastic local attraction for family fun and makes for an incredible and unique focal point for sunset photos.

‘KANMANTOO LUMEY’, KANMANTOO, SA. Light painting with drones is a fantastic emerging area of photography. This image was taken on a close friend’s farm (@did_photos) using a drone carrying a light source and moving in a circle above the old stone cottage in the foreground. The bright ring of light is reminiscent of a halo sitting over the cottage; together they form a unique picture and mood.
