FLINDERS UNIVERSITY MUSEUM OF ART Flinders University Museum of Art (FUMA) is custodian of one of the largest University art collections in Australia. Established in 1966 for education and research, it features Australian and International art and currently comprises more than 8,000 works from the 15th century to the present day. These include paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings, photographs and videos, textiles, ceramics and jewellery. FUMA’s four major collection areas are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, European graphic works, conceptual art, and political prints and posters. Smaller collections encompass indigenous works from Papua New Guinea, North America and Africa, as well as Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints. Shaped by the vision and efforts of the University’s first art historians and subsequent museum staff, these holdings have strengthened over the years through institutional grants, philanthropic gifts and the generous support of private donors. Through our exhibitions, publications and academic and public education programs, FUMA aims to foster critical and creative engagements with art and ideas and promote better understandings between people. FUMA embrace diverse audiences, encourage cross-disciplinary thinking and welcome innovative collaboration with local, regional and global partners.

GALLERY OPEN Monday to Friday 10am – 5pm or by appointment, Thursday 10am – 7pm. Closed weekends and public holidays.
