There is no better time than now to watch The Daniels’ multiverse-themed comedy-drama-sci-fi in the wake of its 11 Oscar nominations; by the time you read this, it may have won Best Picture and, hopefully, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh. She plays Evelyn Wang, a laundromat proprietor, wife and mother who is about to have the craziest day of her life. Co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu also give Oscarworthy performances. This must-see film is brilliantly fun and exhilarating.

Beauty Sexual Repression Has Consequences Stan

With the theatrical release of Living, now is a good time to revisit the earlier films by writer-director Oliver Hermanus. Unfortunately, Hermanus’s 2019 feature Moffie is unavailable for streaming in Australia but you can watch Beauty (2011). Set in Bloemfontein, South Africa, Beauty follows Francois (Deon Lotz), a closeted gay man who develops an unhealthy fixation on the adult son (Charlie Keegan) of a friend that ultimately leads to a brutal act.

Weird Al Yankovic hit big in the 1980s with his comic takes on Madonna (“Like A Surgeon”) and Michael Jackson (“Eat It” and “Fat”). And much like Weird Al himself, Eric Appel’s musical biopic takes that genre and lovingly makes fun of it; if you’re after facts, you’ve come to the wrong place. Daniel Radcliffe plays Yankovic as he hits it big, and yes, Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood) makes a cameo, with Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office US series) playing Al’s mentor Dr. Demento. The Hollywood Reporter calls the film “relentlessly silly, wholesome at heart”. Possibly the next cult classic!

My Policeman A Film About Forbidden Love Prime Video

With his recent Grammy win for Album of the Year, it would be easy to ask why Harry Styles doesn’t stick to his day job rather than pursue an acting career. But Styles acquits himself well in My Policeman, directed by Michael Grandage and adapted from the Bethan Roberts novel by Ron Nyswaner. Styles plays a 1950s English policeman who, happily married to a schoolteacher (Emma Corrin), pursues a romantic relationship with a man (David Dawson). Rupert Everett and Linus Roach (Priest) also star.
