New tech with the power to dent the universe

H P Pav il ion Wav e PC When we think of a desktop PC, we usually picture an ugly black box confined to the floor under our desk, or draped with a towel to keep it out of sight – unless, of course, we’re talking about an iMac or the insanely cool Mac Pro. But HP is set to smarten up the home office with its latest free-standing home computer. Looking like something that’d be more at home on an audio elitist’s side table, the Wave is shrouded in Bang & Olufsen’s finest attire. With a speaker nestled at the top of the machine’s internals, sound is fired upwards and out, with the built-in sound-projection system in the roof converting audio waves into 360-degree tunes. So regardless of where you’re sitting, you can hear what the machine is playing. Internally, the hardware components have been arranged around the centrally mounted speaker tube, with a thermal system – aka a fan – removing hot air from the innards and venting it outside. Despite the Wave’s small size, it’s plenty powerful, with a sixth-gen Intel Core processor, up to 16GB of memory, a top-notch AMD graphics card and a choice of either a SSD or a regular spinning hard drive. You also get a plethora of ports – three USB 3.0 and a USB-C – as well as 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. Price From $550 (£444) Available TBC URL hp.com Get three issues of T3 for just £6! Rob Carney

Nick Odantzis

Claire Davies

Editor There are just so many great phones out at the moment that Rob doesn’t know which one to use. He’s currently got an iPhone 7, an iPhone 7 Plus and a Google Pixel poking out of his pockets.

DEPUTY Editor Nick is currently on sabbatical in Patagonia, and we haven’t heard from him. No doubt he’s using all the latest GoPro tech to create a holiday video he’ll bore us to tears with.

Assistant Editor This month, Claire has been assembling our gigantic tech shopping guide (p48). She also went to her first American Football game. She’s now well and truly hooked on gridiron.

Luke O’Neill

Warren Brown

Dan Grabham

art editor Combining his love of graphic design and models, Luke took the bull by the horns this month and designed our stunning tech shopping guide. Oh, and the rest of the mag too.

DIGITAL ART editor Warren has been lost to the Matrix in the run-up to the PSVR’s launch. Turn to p112 for his exclusive opinion on Batman: Arkham VR, and what it feels like to step into Batman’s rubbery shoes.

editor, t3.com Dan has been busy testing all sorts of gear this month, including the Apple Watch Series 2 (p106). He’s also taken the latest Hyundai electric car – the Ioniq – for a spin.

Robert Jones

Duncan Bell

Spencer Hart

FEATURES EDITOR, T3.COM Robert has been dressing to impress while putting together T3.com’s October style guide. He’s also been getting ready for Halloween by updating T3’s “scariest games ever” round-up.

Lifestyle Editor, t3.com Duncan went to Munich with KEF, during Oktoberfest. The result was a heady combination of designer goods, quality headphones and men in lederhosen quaffing steins of ale.

mobile tech editor, t3.com Spencer has been pretending he’s royalty this month in the Bentley Bentayga. He got stuck in a two-hour traffic jam, but didn’t mind as the car was more comfortable than his living room.

Editor’s letter Your gadget shopping list starts here! We’ve got over 100 products from £50 to £5k to whet your tech whistle…

save £££s! When you subscribe to T3 p76

Isn’t it exciting to think about what could be next on your tech shopping list? But it can be tricky when you have things like a budget and indecisiveness getting in the way. So we’re here to help. In typical T3 fashion, we’ve put together the ultimate list of kit to satisfy the hole that’s burning in your pocket (and no, we don’t mean the Galaxy Note 7). So, whether your budget is £50 or £5k, we’ve got a gadget for you. Flick to p48 now. For around a month, I’ve had a Dyson 360 Eye doing my vacuuming for me. And I’ve got to be honest, I love it. But there’s a raft of robo-vacs out there now, so we decided to test the best three. See who was crowned the mother of all suckers in State of the Art, starting on p78. There’s one phone that’s caught my attention this month – Google’s first handset, the Pixel. My first impressions are that it’s a very cool device indeed – and I’ll be reviewing it in depth next issue. But in the meantime, check out our first look at it on p16 (along with some other pretty cool Google kit). Enjoy the issue, and don’t forget you can get three issues for just £6 when you subscribe. See p76 for all the details!
