From The Desk of Managing Editor RUDRAKSHA Rudraksha is a Sanskrit word. If we split this word into two we get these two words Rudra and Aksha. Rudra means Lord Shiva and Aksha means Aansu(tears) of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu Mythology tears of Shiva fell on earth in the form of Rudraksha tree. The Rudraksha tree belongs to Elaecarpaceae family and is as huge as the Banyan tree which has seed covered with pulp and outer skin. After drying the skin turns black and grooves appear on the surface running from apex to the bottom, there by demarcating clear areas called ‘Mukha or faces’. The Rudraksha are classified on the basis of number of faces, which can range from one to twenty one. 5 Mukhi Rudraksha is the form of Kalagni Rudra and its deity is kalagni. Whosoever wears this 5 Mukhi Rudraksha, he comes out of misfortune and enjoys peace, happiness and prosperity. This Rudraksha transforms curse into boon and makes one healthy. Panch here represents the five elements as well as lord Brahma Himself. As such this Rudraksha makes one free from any sort of problem, misfortune, financial sufferings and bestows upon him all round success, development and prosperity. Spiritual persons get enlightened and attains siddhis very soon after wearing this 5 Mukhi Rudraksha. Astrologically, this Rudraksha represents Jupiter and helps in getting rid of diseases arising out of the malefic effects of Jupiter. Anyone who has committed the sin of rape or illicit physical relationships can also wipeout his negative papa karma by wearing this Rudraksha. It is said that this Rudraksha has the capacity and potential to negate even thousands of evil deeds. Impact of Transit of Rahu/ Ketu Abha Bansal

Transit is the current position of the planets in sky. The transit of the planets is seriously involved in the character and personality formation of a person. Not only this, but the good or bad happenings in a person’s life are also determined by the transit of the planets. Rahu’s transit in Libra and Ketu in Aries on 14 th January 2014 will be affecting all the signs with its negative and positive effects. As Rahu along with Ketu, Saturn and Jupiter is the slowest moving planet it has strong effects on all the moon signs. Rahu and Ketu move to a new sign once in 18 months in their journey counter clockwise around the zodiac and complete their one round of revolution in 18 years. Rahu is the Karmic aggregator and Ketu is dispenser. The impact of transit of Rahu/Ketu on various signs is as follows:

Aries: Your confidence shall increase. You would be striving a lot to maintain better relations with spouse and partners and colleagues but your efforts might not bring in satisfying results. If you can then it is better to avoid risky situations completely. Taurus: You are going to use this time very intelligently. So this is the right time to plan and implement new strategies for business. Financially it is going to be an excellent time. You will be earning from many sources and will also be able to make huge investment. You are being blessed with an art of balancing your domestic and professional life beautifully. You will win almost all the competition that you participate. Gemini: Situations like sudden loss of money, disputes at work place and disturbed health are predicted. You might lose money just due to any wrong decision taken by you. Analyze all the situations before taking any decision. Your earning shall be low and you might not get the credits. Take care of your health. Be cautious about

a your diet especially as you might suffer from stomach disorder. Cancer: Problems like cough, cold, asthma and rheumatic pains will keep on disturbing you all through. A period of difficulties is arriving. You are required to take care of your health as well as your attitude towards life. You might lose confidence in you and will start dealing with life from other’s perspective. Commencing any new project will not turn into your favor. This period might end up with some vehicular accident. Leo: This time is highly favorable to gain security and stability especially on professional front. You shall be awarded with a promotion and if you are a businessperson then an expansion in your business is almost sure. You will be supported by the people in power. You are courageous and the 1st choice of everyone when it comes to responsibilities. Many responsibilities will be assigned to you at your home and office that you will carry forward successfully. The time is asking you to be alert as you might meet a person who is perfectly compatible with you regarding work. Your siblings might face some problems but your relationship with them is going to be very great. Virgo: You might lose some source of income due to which you will be disturbed. This is not favorable time to make new change so you are advised to avoid any change in your daily life routine and also do not commence any kind of new work. Be on the safer side and let your life go the way it was going. For some time you won’t be able to grow. Your doubts and insecurities regarding family and loved ones will not let you enjoy even some moments of your life. AIFAS Research Journal of Astrology  Jan.-Mar. 2013

fopkj xks"Bh Review Review Libra: Avoid over speaking and control your anger. Avoid illicit relationship. Be careful for false documents. You may face some unnecessary legal problems. Sudden expenditure may increase. You may have to work really hard. Not a good favorable time for change in business and job. You have to look out for the smaller opportunities and make the best out of it. Your enemies might trouble you. There wouldn’t be any change in your outlook and you will remain the same as you were before. Scorpio: It is not an appreciable time for you anyhow. You will be disappointed in almost all the things that you will do. The bad part is that even people who you trust a lot can disappoint you to some extent. All these negative things will be affecting your mind badly. You will remain disturbed and your mental anxiety won’t let you live peacefully. As the time is not good, avoid investing money at the places that involves risk. Expecting anything from your family and freeing will result in further disappointments. Any close friend of yours might also betray or back stab you. Travelling might disturb you and your family’s health. Better avoid it. Sagittarius: Public relation, reputation and fame will keep you happy. You will be very impressive during this period. You are not only going to impress your family but people at your workplace and your beloved will also be highly impressed by you. Leaving behind your attitude of carelessness you will move ahead to transform yourself. You are going to rise at your professional level. And, will experience immense pleasure in your love life. You are destined to win all the battles of your life during this time. Your enemies will lose their 13

Review confidence in front of you. All your relationships will remain good as always, but you might face some difficulties while dealing with your children. Capricorn: Rahu is posited in the 10th house in Capricorn. Apart from some minor health issue, this time period is here to gift you ultimate success in almost everything. You are going to impress your seniors with your work and dedication. It is time to grab as many stars as you can to keep in your pocket. You will be reaching new heights in your career and the plus point is that everything will happen on the correct time. You will be smart enough to balance your personal and professional life. This balance will keep you away from any sort of dispute at home and at work place. Your business partners will benefit you. You will be successful in exploring new sources of earnings and you are going to expand your circle. The only thing due to which you might disturb your peace of mind is your health. So take care of your health. Aquarius: This period of your life will be balanced in all spheres. Your mind will

Pisces: Being ignorant towards your health might be very harmful. Health is not being shown very good in your cards. Maintain harmony and positive attitude towards life. Alternative Dasha Systems (with special Reference to Mandook Dasha) Dr. Manoj Kumar, Editor

For the better and accurate predictions, it is always advisable to use the applicable conditional dasha alongwith the Vimshottari Dasha. Of course, Vimshottari Dasha should be given precedence but there is no harm in counter verifying the horoscope with one or some other applicable Dashas. It will only refine the prediction and uplift the honour of astrology. Maharishi Parashar has mentioned about 66 different Dashas while Jaimini has opined about 44 dashas. Out of these 110 dashas or more, most of us use only Vimshottari Dasha predominantly. As a result of this, more often than not we fail in our predictions miserably inspite of having all the favourable parameters and transits in the horoscope. Why it is so? It is because both these stalwarts and the following great Acharyas have always emphasised to use different Dashas for different occasions as well as to use conditional dashas which are applicable only to those horoscopes which fulfil certain criteria. For example, Kaal Chakra or Niryana Shoola Dasha is used for predicting mishappenings, sickness or death etc. likewise Chatursheeti Sama Dasha is used in the horoscope of a native whose 10th lord is in 10th house or Shasti Hayani Dasha is used to a horoscope where Sun is in lagna. Out of these Dashas, many are Rashi based Dashas while others are Nakshatra based Dashas. We will discuss some of these important conditional Dashas one by one in our following issues of the magazine. To start with, we are discussing here one of the AIFAS Research Journal of Astrology l Jan.-Mar. 2013

most important Jaimini Dashas called the Mandook Dasha. Mandook Dasha Mandook is the Sanskrit equivalent of English word Frog. As the name suggests, this dasha also leaps like a frog i.e. after the completion of the dasha of one rashi, the next dasha starts from the 4th rashi. Undoubtedly, it is a rashi based Dasha. For e.g. after Aries Dasha, Cancer Dasha starts then Libra Dasha and then Capricorn Dasha etc. It is a Conditional Dasha and applies only to those horoscopes in which there are four or more planets in kendras except Rahu and Ketu. These four planets may be in one house or splitted in other houses of the kendra. From where the Dasha will start? There are two conditions : 1. If the Lagna is an odd sign i.e. Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius or Aquarius - the Dasha will start from the Lagna. 2. If the Lagna is an even sign i.e. Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn or Pisces - the Dasha will 15

Review start from the 7th house. Dasha sequence In case of odd lagna, start from the lagna in Direct Order. In case of Even lagna, start from the 7th house and move in Indirect Order. Ex. 1 : Suppose a native has Aries Lagna. His Dasha sequence will be 1,4,7,10... 2,5,8,11... then 3,6,9 and 12. Ex. 2 : Suppose a native has Cancer Lagna. Then his Dasha will start from the 7th house and move in Indirect Order. His Dasha sequence will be 10,7,4,1... 9,6,3,12... then 8,5,2 and 11. Antar Dasha Sequence If the Dasha order is Direct, the Antardasha will follow the same order. If the Dasha order is Indirect, the Antardasha will also be Indirect. Dasha Periods 1. In case of odd Rashi - Count from the rashi concerned to its lord where its lord is placed in Direct Order, that will be the Dasha period in years. 2. In case of even Rashi - Count from the rashi concerned to its lord where its lord is placed in Indirect Order, that will be the Dasha period in years. 3. A planet in its own sign or in the 12th from it will give 10 years. Illustration Ex1.- Rajiv Gandhi, August 20, 1944, 7:11:40 AM (Corrected war time), Mumbai D-1 7

Sakat Yog - A Past Life Impediment Pt. Ajai Bhambi, Delhi

As we know Moon is the fastest planet of the zodiac and completes its circle in about 27 plus days. By virtue of its movement Moon forms various yogas which have both qualities good and bad. Our findings suggest that Moon forms the maximum negative yogas in a single round that is why so much misery exists on this planet. Had Moon been forming positive rajayogas then the picture of this world would have been different. Sages were of the opinion that a yoga forming Moon should be free from all afflictions and not weak in the sky. A waxing Moon starts giving strength from the third day and after full Moon or Poornima it still remains potent till waning ashtami. After that it is considered weak. Any small affliction with negative planet can also reduce the strength of rajayoga to a great extent.

Invariably all the powerful rajayogas are distributed among the benefic planets. Jupiter being the benevolent planet among all the planetary hierarchy rules the roost in forming a wonderful rajayoga in a chart. The Moon is not only the fastest moving planet of the zodiac but it acts as a catalyst to form or distort rajayogas by its mere presence or placement. The second fastest planet is Mercury who also gets involved in making or destroying the destinies of people who take birth on this earth. Rajayoga or yoga or yog is a Sanskrit word originated from the root yugm meaning when two different entities join hands that creates a yog. Since in astrology two or more heavenly bodies come across each other and form some kind of connection they give rise to a rajayoga which we study in astrology. According to the seers of yore barring luminaries other five planets are capable of creating extremely powerful rajayogas known as “panch mahapurush rajayogas. We have omitted Rahu and Ketu because they do not belong to planet category and are known as sub-planets. Panch Mahapurush yogas are formed by independent planets in a particular placement without the need or support of any other planet. Panch Mahapurush yogas need special treatment which we shall discuss some other time. The Moon, Mercury and Jupiter are considered the most important planets of astrology but are subject to vulnerability with a little affliction or placement. The trouble with Mercury is that it cannot be away from the Sun by more than 28 degrees therefore subject to combustion like a seasonal flu. There are many other factors which can take the wind out of Mercury if they are together with it or aspecting. An afflicted Mercury troubles the subject from all possible

Review angles i.e. intellectual, social, financial, spiritual, relationship, health etc. According to planetary hierarchy Jupiter is considered the Guru of devtas. Even the demon (rakshasa) or evil planets bow down to Jupiter because of his great knowledge and sacrificing qualities. The importance of Guru comes into existence only when a king, commander, disciple or follower is there. When king or follower stops following guru then guru has no influence on them. May be content and powerful in itself but it cannot influence others. There are many instances in mythology and history when the greatest of gurus has been sidelined by negative forces. The same way; when Guru or Jupiter is not well aligned with the planet with whom it is forming a rajayoga then that rajayoga has no or little value. Gajkesari rajayoga is a very common rajayoga which is formed when Moon and Jupiter are together, square or in opposition with each other. Moon in its sojourn of the zodiac in 27 days must be forming gajkesari rajayoga for minimum 10 different days. According to this calculation about 40 % of people born on this earth will find gajkesari rajayoga in their chart. According to different texts on the subject a one single gajkesari rajayoga is capable of making the person king of the earth. It implies that the real powerful gajkesari rajayoga seldom forms in a chart.

a Let us understand why it is so. As a matter of policy the Moon is better off not being connected with Jupiter than being ill-placed with it. When Moon is not connected with Jupiter then it has a vast field of activities where it can explore its possibilities to the hilt. Moon by its own force is fully capable of creating a new world of his imagination with his intuitive wisdom. But the equation changes drastically when it is neither independent nor dependent to execute himself. That is the precise problem people face who are suffering from sakat yog. We must have seen thousands of kundlis (charts) with this sakat yog. It is very common to find people in your circle suffering from this sakat yog. According to one calculation about 15% people on this earth are afflicted with sakat yog. As we know Moon represents mind, imagination, feeling, emotion, thinking, planning, strategy, understanding, clarity, non-clarity, inconsistency, lack of or overconfidence and making fool of oneself. When it is devoid of Jupiter’s association or aspect then there is no inbuilt protection, advice, patience, understanding, calmness and inner peace which are required to constantly check your ideas and plans before you implement them. People frequently fall on their face repetitively and don’t learn at all and this pattern continues.

Sakat yog means a combination of trouble or problems form when Jupiter and Moon are second-twelfth from each other or six-eighth to each other. According to this definition two houses should be involved but in reality four houses are involved when this sakat yog is formed. Moon could be either side of Jupiter from 1st to 7th house giving rise to a sakat (negative) yog.

Generally from astrology we learn about the three births of an individual which is known as ‘prarabdh’ (previous birth) ‘vartaman’(present birth) and ‘aagami’ (next birth) Whatsoever planet or horoscope we are born with precisely reflects our deeds of previous births. As a matter of fact the nakshatra we chose to take birth or accidentally born in is directly related with our past birth karmas.

According to different texts of great stalwarts it is unanimously agreed that ill-aligned Moon-Jupiter in a chart becomes a source of miseries throughout their life.

Whenever somebody is born with a sakat yog it is a clear indication that in his or her previous birth this person has crossed certain limits and used his power and

a authority to subvert and undermine people and lay his authority on them and use them for his own benefit. In his arrogance he has forgotten to keep balance and inflicted pain to others. According to reincarnation theory if knowingly or unknowingly you have created hell for others by using your power then you have to repay in some birth to get rid of misdeeds which were committed by you in previous incarnations. Krishna says in Gita that one can get rid of all negative and positive karmas of previous births with awareness. Astrology also suggests if one can alter his mental state and connect with the cosmic consciousness even then one can be freed from all the past debts. Moot point is how many do. Most of us live in a world of ignorance. If you look closely at people around you, then you will find that they have the same impediments or problems which they had when they were young or small. When somebody is a liar or greedy or envious then he remains the same even at a ripe old age. The only difference would be that he has become more subtle in his approach. If you are not going to alter your conscious state then whatsoever is written in your chart will happen verbatim. When a sakat yog is formed in your chart, it means that Moon or mind is independent of any genuine guidance or support. In this kind of situation the person tries to act either very fast or with conceived notion. In both the situations his judgment is coloured due to his own lack of understanding in assessing the situation in the right perspective. Since his judgment is

If in this kind of situation you as a third party reason out with the person then you are simply inviting trouble for yourself. We have experienced with many people who have this kind of negative yog that their judgment is poor and if somebody tries to warn them then they tend to become angry and agitated and the relationship goes through another turmoil which is unnecessary. When we observed more we found that they go through all kinds of suffering like financial, emotional, professional, relationship, health issues and so on and so forth. If we look at this from the spiritual astrology point of view then our findings are very different. Due to sakat yog people take advantage of their 5 Mo 1 goodness or 2 3 4 Ju Ju ignorance and they suffer 3 9 accordingly. In this Mo A Ve process they get 10 2 12 rid of their old Su Sa 11 1 Me debts of the Ra previous birth by repaying people in their own sweet way. It has also been observed that their long term misery or suffering converts into compassion and forgiveness and clemency. However we at Nakshatra Meditation believe that if the N M Technique is adopted then he can overcome his past birth debilitation and connect with the cosmic consciousness. ď ˛

Horary Astrology Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chandigarh

In a world where things are moving very fast and problems are increasing, people are being constantly riddled with challenging situations. Every day they face problems and they rush to an astrologer for specific answer to their specific question like money has been stolen/held up, will it be released. A valuable watch has been stolen/ misplaced, can it be recovered. It is at this juncture ‘Horary’ astrology enters into arena. Some broad guidelines have been given for search and seizure in Horary astrology. Firstly the ascendant or prashna lagna is very important. If ascendant is strong and well aspected, it indicates fulfilment of desire. Secondly the nature of query is decided by the houses and their significations. Houses, their lords, karakas and relationship

between them is to be examined. For instance problem relating to missing person is generally investigated through 7th house and its lord if the question is related to recovery of stolen property, the 2nd house and its lord becomes relevant because property means accumulated wealth and so on. Further rising sign at the time of query refers to querent and event is indicated by the concerned house. Question can be put seriously or in light hearted manner. It is therefore one should follow Solomen’ advice “answer a fool according to his follies lest he be wise in his own conceit” Place of casting a horary chart In this regard, astrologer is all important person hence date, time and place will be as per residence of astrologer. Querent Sincere Or Not Some of the combinations of an insincere query or querent are visible in horary chart and in presence of such a combination, one should not answer the query, the combinations are as under:

Judgement of Marital Happiness Sita Ram Singh, Delhi

By virtue of inherent nature Mars, the planet of vigour and passion, and Venus, the planet of love and conjugal relationship create mutual attraction between the opposite sex. The Moon representing mind (Chandrama manso jatah) shows the inclination, Jupiter blesses the two with the bond of marriage, and Saturn, as lord of 'time; solemnises marriage at an appropriate time. As a restrictive planet, Saturn also inculcates faithfulness, controls amorous digressions, and ensures lasting bond of marriage. The astrological principles discussed in this article apply to both the males and females. A person enters Grahastha Ashram, or becomes a house holder, on getting married. It is an important stage of life and every eligible bachelor has high expectations from his marriage and spouse. Although it is said that the marriages are settled in heaven, yet the Vedic science of Astrology unfolds a clear picture about the married life of an individual, whether his expectations will be fulfilled or not. The elders in every Hindu family invariably have the

horoscopes of their marriageable child examined by an astrologer to ascertain about the marriage prospects and then look for a suitable match with complementary horoscope to ensure that their married life is happy, healthy and prosperous. However, complete marital bliss is quite rare. For ascertaining marriage prospects of an individual the factors to be examined are primarily the 7th house (marriage), and also 2nd house (family, and longevity of spouse being 8th from 7th house), the 8th house (mangalya, or marital happiness), 4th house( general happiness), the 5th house (love and progeny), 12th house (bed comforts) together with Moon (mind) and Venus, significator for marriage and conjugal bliss (Kalatra Karaka). In the case of girls, Jupiter, significator for husband, is given prime importance. The benefic association or aspect of Jupiter on the 7th house and 27

Review the 7th lord indicates a virtuous and loyal spouse. When 7th and 8th house, their lords, Venus and Moon are strong and associated with, or aspected by, benefics the native's married life is quite happy. Their debilitation, combustion or affliction by malefics - Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu - makes marriage unhappy. The position of Mars in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses constitutes mangal dosha, as from these locations Mars either aspects or occupies the house concerned with marriage, thereby spoiling marital happiness and, if afflicted endangers the life of the spouse. The marriage of a manglik individual is invariably solemnised after matching the horoscopes for counter balancing the dosha (defect). When the Sun is in the 7th house, the wife comes from a higher status family, is proud and dominating. Mars in the 7th house gives a harsh and cruel spouse. If afflicted then even death of spouse. Saturn in the 7th house makes the spouse morose and undersexed. The marriage is delayed, or with a widower, or with one not good looking. When Rahu is in the 7th house, the marriage is late, the wife comes from a low family, is sickly, and the native has relationship with low caste women. Ketu in the 7th house also indicates unhappy married life, unless it is posited in Scorpio (exalted), due to illness or early death of spouse. A strong and well aspected Mercury or Moon in the 7th house indicates a young, beautiful and intelligent wife. Venus in 7th house indicates a handsome but overindulgent spouse. Jupiter in the 7th house gives a religious and capable spouse. Then the lord of the 7th house is located with a benefic planet and also aspected by a benefic, or if it is located in between benefics (Subhkartari Yoga), it indicates a good wife. The study of Navamsa chart is another 28

a important tool for discerning the marriage prospects. If the 7th lord and karaka Venus occupy inimical or debilitated Navamsa, and are also devoid of benefic influence, then the native faces problems in marriage and gets a bad wife. If Navamsa lagna lord is Sun, the wife will be devoted but domineering; if Moon then beautiful and peace loving; if Mercury then intelligent, beautiful and capable if Mars then she will be of cruel nature and of doubtful character; if Jupiter, then good natured and religious; if Venus then she is beautiful, comfort loving and is indulgent to the extent of going astray; if Saturn then the wife is of cruel nature and unhelpful. If Navamsa lagna lord is with Rahu or Ketu then she is secretive, cruel and acts against her husband. If the Navamsa lagna lord is conjoined with malefic or receives their aspect, then the wife is quarrelsome. The result of the location of the 7th lord in different houses, subject to its strength and aspects received, is as follows : In 1st House : When the 7th lord is a benefic and friendly to Lagna lord, the wife comes from a known family, is helpful to the native and they live happily. If the lord of the 7th house and lagna are located in lagna itself close to each other the native marries early. But if the 7th lord is a natural malefic and weak, the first wife dies, the native marries again and the second wife survives. In 2nd house : The native marries with wealthy girl and becomes prosperous after marriage. If afflicted, the native faces financial crunch after marriage, and marries again. In 3rd house : The wife is a source of strength to the native. If afflicted, the wife is attracted towards native's younger brother. In 4th house : The wife is good natured and helpful to the native who becomes prosperous. If afflicted the native remains AIFAS Research Journal of Astrology ď Ź Jan.-Mar. 2013

a unhappy. In 5th house : The wife is cultured and religious and begets him many children. If afflicted the wife will be cruel and obstinate. In 6th house : The wife is sickly. The native has to spend a lot on his wife and incurs debt. He falls sick due to excessive indulgence. In 7th house : The native marries early and leads a happy life with a capable wife. If the 7th lord is malefic and afflicted, there may be affairs outside marriage. In 8th house : Marriage is delayed, spouse is sickly and married life is unhappy, unless there is strong benefic aspect on the 8th house and 8th lord. In 9th house : The wife brings luck to the native, whose fortune rises after marriage. In 10th house : The wife comes from good background and proves helpful in native's profession/enterprise, or may be a working lady, and of independent nature. In 11th house : The married life is happy. Gains through wife. In 12th house : The marriage is delayed, there is huge expenditure on wife. If afflicted, wife may die early or there may be separation. Though Jupiter and Venus, the two most benefic planets, are highly praised for happiness in life, they suffer from Kendradhipati dosha (blemish of owning Kendras, 7th being one). Maharshi Narada states in Naradsamhita that, except in the 7th house, Venus in Kendra blesses a native with sons and wealth. The exception of Venus in 7th house is due to the dictum Karako bhava nasaya as it is karaka for 7th house. Another reason given in Sarvartha Chintamani is that Venus in 7th house makes the native over-sexed. AIFAS Research Journal of Astrology ď Ź Jan.-Mar. 2013

Jupiter when placed in 7th house ,being his own or exaltation house, or in the Ascendant, delays marriage, as the native considers marriage a burden or obstacle in achieving his goal. When married, the wife belongs to a good family, and is sincere to the native, but she may be sickly or conceited thereby spoiling happiness. The experience shows that the 9th and 5th aspects of Jupiter are better than the 7th, and augment the results of aspected house. When Jupiter is in the 7th house (10th from 10th) the native is talented and rises to eminence. Example 1 This is the horoscope of Chief Minister of a South Indian State. She entered politics and gained power via films denoted by Venus, exalted in 10th house. The location of Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 7th house, budha-ditya Yoga in the 9th, Rahu in 11th, and Saturn, lord of 24.2.1948, 15.00 hrs, Mysore 9th in 2nd, Mars 2 Sa(R) 3 with Moon in 3rd 4 5 1 Ra house aspecting Mo Ma 9th and 10th 12 6 house, has made Ve A the horoscope very 11 7 9 powerful. Jupiter Me(R) Ke Ju powerfully aspects 8 10 Su Moon, Mars, Rahu and Lagna, conferring name, fame, wealth and status. However, the self-same Jupiter posited in the 7th house (sthan hani karoti Jiva) and location of Ketu in the 5th house (denial of progeny) have deprived her of marriage. When Venus is posited in the 7th house as Karaka, it spoils married life due to excess venery and infidelity after early marriage. The affliction of Venus by Mars, Saturn and Rahu causes extramarital relations. Sometimes even the benefic aspect of Jupiter fails to curb the tendency. The horoscope of Princess Diana of U.K. is the best example on this point. 29

Aspect of Mars on Moon and Lagna made her very firm and independent. Venus in the 7th house resulted in early marriage on 29.7.1981 at the age of 20 years (the year of Venus). Mars and Rahu are in Kendra to Venus and afflict the Moon. This made her indulge in extramarital affairs, break her marriage with future King of U.K., and decide to marry an Egyptian of different faith. The aspect of Neecha and afflicted Jupiter on the 7th house and Venus therein was ineffective to contain the tendency. The cruel fate, however, ended her life in a car accident during Saturn dasa-Rahu Bhukti at the age of 36 year (the year of Saturn) on 31.8.1997. In keeping with its inherent nature, Saturn delays marriage when posited in the 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th or 10th house, either from Lagna or Moon sign from where it affects the 7th house. Saturn in the 7th house gives an aged or unromantic spouse. If such Saturn is further afflicted, then it even denies marriage. Saturn is friend of Venus, but their connection points to questionable private life of the native. Saturn and Sun in opposition in the horoscope delay, and if afflicted even deny, marriage. The conjunction of Saturn and Mercury in the 7th house leads to unhappy marriage and affect progeny as both are impotent planets. 30

According to Puranic legend, Moon, the disciple of Deva Guru Jupiter, had developed illicit relations with Guru's wife, which led to the birth of Mercury. If weak Moon is located in the 7th house with Saturn or other malefic, the native is adulterous. Example 3

When there are malefic planets in the 7th and 2nd houses and their dispositors are weak, the native loses his wife and marries again. If there are malefic planets in Lagna, the 2nd or 7th and the lord of the 7th house is weak by being eclipsed, or being in its sign of debilitation, the native may have to marry thrice. Development of Knowledge and Early Spiritual Education K. Santhanam, Delhi

The purpose of Education is the upliftment of Human Beings. Education stems from two basic roots namely (a) attainment of knowledge and (b) proper utilization of that knowledge. The former again depends on (i) the ability of the individual— which in turn rests upon the mental faculty he/she possess at birth and (ii) the interest one develops during the course of his journey in Life. Acquirement of knowledge falls into two categories, namely Sruthi and Smrithi. While Sruthi literally means, “what is heard”, Smrithi denotes “what is remembered”. The laws and bye –laws for social upliftment are Smrithis. The principles enumerated by Parashara , Manu, Bhaskara and Jaimini are some Smrithis, which form the basis to

formulate fruitful and constructive modes to better living. It may be mentioned that every thing that is heard, need not necessarily be remembered. In fact only those items, which have an instructive effect upon the individual, are carried to the Human memory plane. All students hear from the same teacher; but some remember more than the

a others. Obviously, the inert field of talent one possesses has a large part to play in this vital function. On the other hand the sound vibrations that one hears affect the system directly and cause divertive motions within the human body. These may be negative, passing or positive. Their reactions on the human breathing system are extensive and are many times a cause for improper and unstable functioning of an individual. The harmonization of Sruthi and Smrithi leads to inner satisfaction and contentment and optimal utilization of Human energy. It may be mentioned that the multiple harmonics ( though invisible) that travel through the extensive communication network in the globe, such as television etc. cause high distortion and consequent stress on the mental working system of an individual. The latter could again be transient or progressive and long-lasting. Somewhere hidden in ones interest being constructive and long lasting is an inert force known as Talent. It would immediately be apparent that this force is so strong and benign that when it is exhibited and harmonized in a practical mode, optimal contentment and satisfaction is reached. This is known as ‘Manushya Nama Anandam’— Joy of Attainment of Faith and contentment and forms the first of the Eleven Anandams (Bliss) that lead to ‘Brahmanandam’ or Ultimate Bliss. fopkj xks"Bh Review Review Knowledge by itself covers both the good and the bad. This very function of relativity in its applicability to Living and non- Living Beings makes it so vast, that one rightly feels, its total attainment is a stupendous task. This inherent quality in acquiring knowledge makes its proper utilization, a difficult task indeed. Surely, the Human brain is roaming in an ocean of knowledge without knowing where the destination is! This process eats up a high percentage of the human resources that one possesses, and leaves him/her null and void at the end of the day. Indeed, its attainment calls for high will power and deep concentration (shradha ). Should then we not acquire any knowledge? This unfortunately is out of ones scope, as the human mind even in its most deformed state at birth, as per medical terms, thirsts for the attainment of that complete knowledge, which is so difficult to attain. The MIND is known as MANN in Sanskrit, which means Ego. The reverse of Mann is ‘Nammah’, which term is a yoga used in Hindu rituals, to unconsciously remove that stressful ego (bottlenecks within the human system) and enable us to tread a more constructive journey in life. The realization of the difficulty if not inability to attainment of total knowledge has dawned on the Human race, though belatedly and given rise to what is today so explosively termed as Expertise. This term is just like the Wolf that termed the Grapes as Sour, as it was not able to attain them— in this case the attainment of Total Knowledge. When viewed from Man made functionaries, Expertise may seem to occupy such a status; but not so if applied to Human Beings, which works holistically and must be so analysed. No wonder, Expertise in a particular medical field has left the Medical doctors roaming wild 33

The above elaborate exposition of (i) acquirement of knowledge and (ii) its proper utilization keeping in view the ultimate constructive target of attainment of steadfast happiness is known as Education. However, today we attain multiple Literacy qualifications without reaching to the attainment of real Education. The process of remodulation of available Human resources indicated in ones horoscope, in order to stimulate the process of education is urgently called for! Clearly the aspect of Jupiter and Mars upon the fifth house and Mercury (the lord of the sixth) along with Jupiter in the 11th House indicates that the literary studies lead to electrical engineering. The above in collusion with Moon and Venus in a Kendra sthana, ensure ample resources that would optimize his implementation progression 34

in his material field. Moreover it gives an inclination towards electronic engineering and Management in financial fields. The aspect of Saturn – the lord of the 10th and the 11th houses together with Mars’s –the Lord of the Ascendent upon the 5th ensures ample remuneration from it. Saturn- the lord of the 10th and the 11th and aspected by Jupiter in the 3rd house clearly indicates ultimate satisfaction and contentment would arise only from in depth studies in the spiritual line. Even astrology cannot be ruled out; but it would not primarily be for commercial purposes. Though, this is inert within the boy, it will surface only around the middle forties when Saturn period starts. Moreover, it will carry the full support of his wife, who will work directly or indirectly, as a catalyzing agent in this regard. Jupiter’s collusion with Mercurythe lord of the 6th confirms the above trend. The upgradation alone will not bring contentment. He would have to seek other means to fulfil his inner satisfaction. Ketu in the constellation of Mars –the Lord of the Ascendant who is situated in the 2nd aspecting the 5th comes to the rescue. Its conjointment with Saturn the lord of the 10th and 11th, clearly indicates that inert yearning for attainment of trancedental powers and its fulfilment will be the source of contentment during this journey of his life. Mars, Saturn and Jupiter will help him in attaining this. 4th house represents the palatable resource one possesses and the 10th house defines its direction of utility. The 3rd house indicates the sources and efforts needed to create this resource. Here, the lord of the 4 th is Moon while that of the 10th is Saturn which is 6/8 to each other. This clearly indicates that material here, Sruthi is represented by AIFAS Research Journal of Astrology  Jan.-Mar. 2013

The Sun / Mercury conjunction does indicate ample scope for studies especially in the Field of Computer Science as both Jupiter and Venus are travelling in the constellation of Rahu which is strongly aspected by Mars – the karaka for electrical /electronic studies. Rahu itself performing the role of the 7th house i.e. Saturn’s, which is inherently depleted and situated in a movable sign, clearly indicates that the utilization process of the higher studies, the boy has attained what so far are dim as he does not enjoy internal satisfaction through it .The Ascendant running in the constellation of Venus and again a depleted ascendant Lord –Sun in the Navamsa, attaining a weakness, being in conjunction with a inherent depleted Saturn, clearly signifies a lack of contentment in the implementation of his developed resources. stranded Moon in the constellation of Ketu in the 5th house, indicate a vagabond with poor self-confidence and tendency to isolate oneself from the realities of Life. The boy is an M.Tech. in Computer Science. At the age of 35 yrs. he is drawing only an annual salary of about Rs. two and a half lakhs and that too after changing a number of jobs. This clearly is not commensurate with his high qualification. What has gone wrong? Is there any scope for further improved ramification? These are some of the important points that need to be gone into by an astute astrologer for guiding the person in the proper direction so that he may make optimal use of his future life, at the earliest. As enumerated earlier there is the need for proper harmonization of ‘Smrithi’ and ‘Sruthi’, if optimal utilization of available resources has to be ensured. In the case under consideration, the qualifications developed by the individual would be termed as external supplementary sustainable resources. However, the fulfilment of internal Want or Talent in the case of the above individual revolves around Rahu placed in the 7th house and Venus. The former is the fuel for Jupiter – a yoga karaka for this Ascendant, and Venus –the lord of the 10th house, The latter i.e. Venus is the catalyzing agent for both the Moon whose stability is essential for the individual and for the depleted Saturn whose aspect along with Jupiter upon the 11th house, defines the fruits of his endeavours. Obviously, the wife becomes the strongest link for him to stabilize his mental faculties and direct them in an upward constructive mode as well as to the fulfilment of his emotional needs so essential for his attaining contentment in this Life. In this case, Smrithi becomes 35

Review the wife and Sruthi the emotional inhibitions. The former is defined by Rahu while the latter by Venus. The boy is still a bachelor mainly in view of his lack of stability in a remunerative job. Unfortunately, those very forces which were necessary for his upcoming in Life have been denied to him because of the present environmental forces prevailing in the country. Modern tendencies in Living are based on wishful conceptions, which in many cases lead to unwarranted stress and non-fulfilment of constructive ambitions in life. The individual has been advised astrologically to opt for early marriage and preferably an engagement. This would feed him with the tonic so necessary to him to exhibit both his acquired and inert talents and enjoy the fruitful conductance of his life. Rahu/Ketu are the two Nodes in astrological parlance.

36

Conclusion It is obvious from the above , that to conclude that knowledge – be it professional or otherwise , need not necessarily result in material fructification or internal contentment. To assess the above, the following should be kept in view by any astute astrologer :1. the lords of the 10th , 7th and 5th houses and the constellation in which they are travelling. 2. the relation these lords have to the 11th lord. 3. the relation the 11th and 12th lords have with the ascendant and its lord. The time of change over of profession and whether it will be fruitful and in what way will be determined both with the help of the running Dasha/ Bhukthi, and the Gochara movement of the Lords of houses given in 1 above. ď ˛

Karakamsha : What does it reveal Dr. Suresh Chandra Mishra

The word ‘Karkamsha’ has two components, ‘Karaka’ and ‘Amsha’. ‘Karaka’ stands for the Atma-Karaka while ‘Amsha’ indicates the Navamsha. The navamsha sign of the Atma-Karaka is the Karkamsha lagna.Of all planets, say Jaimini and Parashara, the Atma-Karaka (AK) is the ultimate controller, creater or destroyer of destiny. By which they mean that all planets are subservient to the AK as far as the disbursement of results. The AK is the king of kings, the commander of all other Karakas. It is, therefore, essential to consider the disposition of the AK in any chart analysis. A Karkamsha chart is of vital importance in order to prognosticate events from the study of a horoscope. Without this chart, it may not be possible to understand a nativity clearly. Karkamsha, Ghati, Hora, Vighati charts, etc., are not mere decorative components of a horoscope. They are in fact as important as the lagna chart and must be rendered the same respect and treatment as the lagna chart.

The navamsha sign of the AK is called the Karkamsha lagna rashi.

The Karkamsha chart is the navamsha chart. The only difference is that the navamsha lagna is not considered the first house, the sign occupied by the AK is the first house in the chart.

Some astrologers have created confusion by stating that the Karkamsha sign is to be taken from the navamsha while the rest of the planets are considered as located in different signs in the birth chart.

Confusion has been created between ‘Karkamsha’ and ‘Swamsha’. It may be emphasised that both have the same meaning according to both Parashara and Jaimini.

Karkamsha: Some Clarifications There has been a lot of confusion about what exactly is Karkamsha and how it must be used. This enjoins us to record the following points in order to dispel any misunderstanding about the concept of a Karkamsha chart. •

A planet which is the most advanced in degrees, compared with any other planet, irrespective of the sign inhabited by it, is called the AtmaKaraka (AK).

The AK is the basis of the Karkamsha lagna and must always be treated as a benefic. The placement of the AK in the natal chart does not seem to bear much importance but it makes a great difference in the navamsha chart where its position always coincides with the first house of the Karkamsha chart. The Raja yogas may form as follows : Karkamsha chart: Parashara states: 1. Kumbha (Aquarius) lagna rises with four planets in the eighth house: The native has been an exceptionally popular cine artist and a legend in his lifetime. He has risen to a level in his career that none of his contemporaries have matched yet. During the premiership of Rajiv Gandhi, he was elected as an M.P. He has had very cordial relations with the Nehru family. He has thus enjoyed Raja-yoga without holding any political post. The Sun happens to be the AK in this chart. In the navamsha, the Sun occupies Simha (Leo), its own house. Simha thus becomes the Karkamsha lagna (in the navamsha chart). From here, a strong Venus (also in its own house) occupies the tenth house. The Jaimini aspect of Jupiter falls on this Venus, ensuring the presence of a Rajayoga in the chart (rule no.1). Rajiv Gandhi) was born on August 20, 1944; at 8:11 hours IST (War Time); at 18°N58', 72°E50'. This former Primer Minister of India suddenly came on the political scene during the closing years of his mother Indira Gandhi’s reign. The AK here is Mercury which occupies Dhanus (Sagittarius) in the navamsha chart. The lord of the Karkamsha lagna, Jupiter, is exalted in Karka (Cancer) and opposed by its exalted fifth lord Mars (rules 8 and 9). Two benefics, the Moon and Venus, occupy the tenth from the Karkamsha lagna (rule 1) and establish a Jaimini aspect with the AK. AIFAS Research Journal of Astrology  Jan.-Mar. 2013

Each Dwadashamsha is an arc of 2º30'. Twelve such Dwadashamshas form one rashi of 30 degrees. These labels or ‘key words’ are as follows (along with their extent in a given rashi): 1. Kubera (0° to 2°30'), the lord of Wealth. 2. Patanga (2°30' to 5°), the Sun or the Fire-god. 3. Hala (5° to 7°30'), wine or water. 4. Kireeta (7°30' to 10°), the throne. 5. Vihwala (10° to 12°30'), agitated or anguished. 6. Mayavi (12°30' to 15°), delusionist or delusive. 7. Mohana (15° to 17°30'), bewitching, delusion. 8. Kinnara (17°30' to 20°), a mythic being having a human body with the head of a horse. 9. Sarpa (20° to 22°30'), serpent. 10.Indra (22°30' to 25°), the king of gods.

The above-mentioned words have implied meanings. They must be used to designate the AK depending upon its longitude (or its precise location in a rashi). •

The ones to be especially considered likewise are the AK, the lagna nakshatra lord (LNL), the lagna lord, the navamsha lord, the yoga-karaka, the Moon, the rashi lord, and the AmK. 39

When several factors together fall in the apparently benevolent Dwadashamshas (as indicated by the meanings of the above-mentioned key words), the native is blessed with success in general during his lifetime.

of malefics occupy houses 2 and 8 in the Karkamsha chart.

When a Raja-yoga giving planet falls in the Vihwala, Hala, Sarpa or Mayavi divisions, the good effects of such a yoga-karaka diminish markedly.

• The same combination may be considered in cases of the natal lagna as well as the Pada-lagna.

Of the key words mentioned above: Kubera, Kireeta, Mohana and Indra (nos. 1, 4, 7, 10) are the best; Patanga, Mayavi, Kinnara and Lila (nos. 2, 6, 8, 11) are medium;

Hala, Vihwala, Sarpa and Kokila (nos. 3, 5, 9, 12) are the least auspicious. In the chart of Amitabh Bachan, the Sun, Mars and Mercury fall in the category of Indra (no. 10). The Moon falls in Vihwala (no. 5), Jupiter in Kubera (no. 1), Venus in Mohana (no. 7), Saturn in Kinnara (no. 8), and the (cusp of the) lagna in Kubera (no. 1). Thus the AK (Sun), the lord of the Janma rashi (Venus), the LNL (Mars), and the lagna are the best. The lagna lord Saturn is medium. And the Moon falls in an inauspicious station. This all reflects the dignified status of the native as well as his amazing success in his chosen field of work. Kemadruma in Karkamsha A Kamadruma yoga is one which is considered highly malefic and capable of negating the benefic influence of the best of Raja-yogas. Most astrologers would consider a Kemadruma yoga to be in existence when the Moon has no planet (other than the Sun) located in either its preceding or suceeding house. However, there are combinations in the Karkamsha chart too which result in a Kemadruma yoga leading to persistent misery and a life of struggles and failure. • A Kemadruma yoga, the yoga of poverty and misery, results when equal number 40

• This adverse yoga is certain when the Moon aspects either or both of the abovementioned houses.

Bandhana Yogas or Yogas indicating Incarceration These are yogas which indicate imprisonment, kidnapping or detention by force. The Karkamsha chart is an important chart to study for such events. The following points need to be taken note of: • A Bandhana yoga is formed when equal number of planets occupy the paired houses 2 and 12, 3 and 11, 4 and 10, 5 and 9, or 6 and 8, involving either one pair of the houses mentioned or more than one pair simultaneously. • If the dispositors of these planets (mentioned above as occupying the paired houses) are aspected by other planets, there is no kinapping or detention. However in such cases, some physical trouble should be indicated. Mode of Death The Karkamsha chart may also be studied to decipher the time and mode of death of the native. Malefics placed in houses 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 12 in the Karkamsha chart indicate a violent death while benefics in these houses indicate a peaceful or comfortable death. Gullika too becomes important when it occupies the same sign in which the AK falls in the navamsha. In other words, the sign occupied by Gullika in the birth chart may indicate adverse results if this sign happens to be the Karkamsha lagna. One may also see the 8th house of the Karkamsha chart for the mode of death, according to its Karkatwa. a Mars (2nd house), Saturn and Ketu (3rd house), Sun (6th house) and Jupiter (8th house).

Ketu in the 2nd or the 9th house, aspected by or associated with malefics creates speech disorders.

These planets may become important at the time of death. Rajiv Gandhi died when it was the major period of Rahu and the sub-period of Mercury. Rahu falls in the 8th house from the Gullika which occupies Dhanu (Sagittarius), in the 5th house of the natal chart. In the Karkamsha chart, Rahu’s dispositor, Sun, occupies the sixth house while Rahu’s equivalent (i.e., Saturn) occupies the 3rd house along with Ketu. Mercury, the AK and the sub-lord, occupies Dhanu (Sagittarius) in the navamsha, the same sign as occupied by Gullika in the natal chart.

Venus or Mars, occupying or aspecting the 2nd or the 9th house, make a person inclined to extramarital affairs.

Benefics in the 3rd generate an unstable or timid mental state.

A strong planet occupying or aspecting the 4th house gives property and vehicles. The Moon alone here does not generally give these results.

The Moon and Venus having aspectual relation in the 4th house cause skin disorders.

Malefics in the 5th house cause disease.

Varied Combinations in Karkamsha Chart

Ketu, Rahu or Mars associated with the AK cause multiple ailments.

Here are some tips about the indications that varied combinations existing in the Karkamsha chart provide:

One strongly placed malefic in the 5th house makes the person learned and intelligent.

A benefic in the 6th produces a lazy person.

Mars, Saturn and Rahu in the 7th make the spouse prone to ailments.

Ketu or any exalted planet in the 12th yields spirituality and religious inclinations. 

Benefics in the kendras and trikonas (in the Karkamsha chart) make the native wealthy and comfortable in life. When the AK is associated with other planets (in the Karkamsha chart), the native attains prominence amongst his family members.

Vaastu

Least perimeter Exposure to the Sun is the basic concept of Vaastu Tejandra Pal Tyagi

Modern architecture sometimes gets so much obsessed with the ideas like economy, life-style, function and efficiency that peace and tranquility of a human being are relegated to a back seat. Vaastu Shastra deals with creating an ambience between four kinds of spaces i.e space within human forms, constructed space, terrestrial space, and cosmic space, in other words, human body, the clothes we wear, the house we live in and the environment in which the house is situated. In the Vedic times science and art, seasons and rituals, traditions and culture, all travelled hand in hand to develop the human mind as the everflowing essence of nature. It was a holistic endeavour with rhythm of intelligence and harmony of mind. Utility was just one aspect of this life, but not the only aim as seen in modern American culture. In the 17th, the 18th and the 19th centuries, India unfortunately had to face rule by quaint people for whom trading was life, utility was tradition and counting coins was religion. These uncouth people nearly destroyed the flow

of Indian traditions. The architects who have surrendered themselves to the Western culture and have borrowed ideas not suitable for the tropical environments should take the major share of the blame for this scenario. Making the North direction on a drawing sheet has now become a mere ritual, without understanding its meaning and importance. The significance of the organic electromagnetic flux lines emanating from the North is totally lost on the present day practitioners of architecture. In ancient practice, immense importance was given to alignment of the geometric axis of the Vaastu and the geomagnetic axis of the mother Earth. Hence the North marking was paid special attention in planning of Vaastu. In the tropical Countries like India, the path of the sun is normally along the East, Southeast, South and Southwest direction. For eight months in a year, we are directly exposed to the radiation of the sun. To avoid the malignant effects of solar radiation and its Ultra Violet rays and to keep the house in shady cool zone,

opening towards the South direction should normally be avoided. It must be understood that the roofs slopping towards the South, Southwest and southeast project excessive area to solar radiation leading to a very hot and unhealthy environment inside the dwelling, and hence, must be avoided. As a corollary, wide openings towards the East direction always channelise the pranik energy throughout the house. On the other hand, toilets and staircases in the East direction block the morning solar bliss. It is a medically proven fact that sunlight is essential for the life processes and the natural synthesis of Vitamin ‘D’ in human body is largely dependent on absorption of sunlight through the medium of the human skin. Least perimeter exposure to the sun and modular planning are the keys to Vaastu concept. All fancy and unnatural forms are strictly avoided in Vaastu. Most of India lies between the latitudes 9°N and 35°N. Between these latitudes, the surfaces that receive the maximum solar radiation, apart from the roof areas, are the Southeast, South and Southwest walls. Therefore, the length of NorthSouth axis of a Vaastu should be greater than the East-West axis. It is interesting to note that some western scientists are promoting a concept of ‘space therapy’ which is based on the premise that well- defined builtup spaces have the virtuous ability to cure human body of ill health. The experiments have mostly been confined to pyramids and similar shapes. These ideas though rediscovered by the western world now are already and readily available in the doctrines of the Vaastushastra. It can readily be conceded from the aforesaid that a modern Architect is concerned with balance, harmony, rhythm, shape, form, proportions, functional utility, efficiency and beauty in any building he puts on the drawing board; by making use of the eight directions that is the four cardinal directions (North, East, South, West) and the four angular directions (North East, South East, South West, North West), the modern Architect can cater for the sun light, cross ventilation and the said factors in any Building. However, for holistic development, peace and spiritual bliss, we need to cater for two more directions i.e Vertically Upward called Zenith and Vertically Downward called Nadir directions. Zenith represents Cosmic Energy of the Sky and the Nadir represents the Magnetic Field of the Earth. A Vaastu Science Consultant will cater for all those factors taken in to consideration by a Modern Architect and in addition will cater for the resonance between the cosmic rays coming from the sky and the magnetic field of the Earth. This is why we say that a Vaastu Science consultant has an edge above the modern Architect.  43

Numerology

Malaise of Karmic Numbers Dr. Manoj Kumar, Editor

The numbers that indicate a Karmic Debt are 11/2, 19/1, 13/4, 22/4, 14/5 and 16/7 and are called Karmic Numbers. These numbers takes on great significance when they are found in the Core Numbers i.e. the most important numbers like Talent Number, Destiny Number, Heart Number, Personality Number or in the Challenges, Pinnacles, Event Numbers, Personal Years or Birth Force Periods during the course of our life time. Each has its own unique characteristics and its own particular difficulties. A Karmic Number can be found in different places in the chart as a result of totals based on date of birth or calculations based on the letters of name. 46

Numerology is based on the ancient idea that each of us is a spiritual being or a soul who incarnates on the earth many times in order to further evolve towards higher states of awareness. During our long evolutionary path of many incarnations, we have accumulated a wealth of wisdom and have made many good choices that benefit us in future life times. We have also committed mistakes and have sometimes abused the gifts we have been given. To rectify such errors we may take on additional burden in order to learn a particular lesson that we failed to learn in previous life times. In Numerology, this burden is called Karmic Debt. Number 11/2 : Number 11 walks the edge between greatness and self destruction. Its potential for growth, stability and personal power lies in its acceptance of intuitive understanding and of spiritual truths. For Number 11, such place is not found so much in logic but in faith. It is the psychic’s number.

Number 1 on Mental Plane, special frequency of 1 (5 times) as well as 8 Destiny Number made her strong headed and perform the acts according to her own conscience ignoring and avoiding the command and consent of others. She was under the influence of the subtle forces of Birth Force Period 5 and most of the times her Event Numbers were either 3 or 14/5. She was murdered under mysterious circumstances with her servant Hemraj. The mystery of her death is still unresolved. Since this case is still subjudiced under the jurisdiction of the court therefore it will not be legally or ethically correct to disclose the mystery of her death astrologically or by any means. So, we will just discuss the reasons of such a fateful happening. Her Talent Number is a highly Karmic Number 16/7. Her Pinnacle was 11/2 since birth, again a highly Karmic Number endowed with very high sensitivity and emotions coupled with the support of Birth Force Period 5. No doubt these numbers played their part and paved the way for her untimely and sad demise. As discussed earlier, 16/7 is the manifestation of negative 1 and negative 6 i.e. egotism and illicit love affair while 11/2 makes the person highly vulnerable to emotion and sensitivity as well as impractical and selfish. These features were multiplied by the other supporting numbers at different places i.e. Event Number 3 at the time of her death and the Birth Force Period 5.

No doubt all these Karmic Numbers played their roles in their own way and spread their negativity in strange manner and took the heavy toll in the form of her life and even after death she was not spared and dragged into numerous controversies. Example 2 : Princess Diana, July 1961 Princess Diana, the estranged wife of would be British Crown Prince Charles was born on July 1, 1961. The Talent Number of Princess Diana is 7+1+17/8 = 16/7, a highly Karmic Number. The entire world knows about her controversial love affairs and her recurring disputes and infighting with her husband Prince Charles which ultimately resulted in separation and divorce. Later on she developed love relationship with Dodi Fayed and met an accident while travelling with him at pont de I'Alma in Paris, France in which both of them died. As a result of her Karmic Talent Number 16/7, she always invited rumours about her illicit relationships throughout her life whether it be her stableman or someone else. Such are the devastating effects of the Karmic Numbers. It has been observed that whenever the Karmic Numbers appear as a Core Number at any point in life it causes great hurdles, obstacles and disturbances in life. ď ˛
