Results of Houselord's own Mahadasha & Antardasha By Sushil Agarwal

In vimshottari dasha system, dasha results are provided on the basis of relationship between mahadasha and antardasha lords. When one planet owns both, then no relationship can be formed between them. Therefore, the process of giving house specific results often creates confusion in the mind of students of astrology. Sage Parashar has clearly defined in Dashaphaladhyaya that planets give two types of results in their dasha: •

Normal results, based on their planetary behaviour or natural significance, and

Special results, based on their lordship

Brihat Parashar, Laghu Parashari, Phaladeepika and others have mentioned below verse in this reference :

u fn'ks;qxzZgk% losZ Lo&n'kklq Lo&HkqfDr"kqA 'kqHkk·'kqHkQya u`.kkekReHkkokuq:ir%AA It translates to that no planet gives selfspecific auspicious or inauspicious results during its own mahadasha and own antardasha. This verse says that when a planet is the lord of both mahadasha as well as antardasha (e.g. Sat./Sat., Jup./Jup. etc.), then it does not give its house specific auspicious or inauspicious dasha results. Please note that we are talking about houselord specific dasha results. Various dashalords can be listed as below: •

If lord of mahadasha and antardasha is auspicious, then native will not get house specific auspicious results.

is yogakaraka, then native will not get house specific yogakaraka results. •

If lord of mahadasha and antardasha is inauspicious, then native will not get house specific inauspicious results.

In this horoscope, Saturn is auspicious as it is lord of ascendant house and 12th house. The prior mahadasha of Jupiter was very challenging for native as Jupiter is inauspicious as lord of 2nd and 11th houses. During Saturn/Saturn, native did not get any specific auspicious results but the environment and hope started building around him. Once Saturn/Saturn got over, native progressed quite well, especially after 2002. Let us take another example: 11 12 Sa(R) Ke Mo 1

RESEARCH JOURNAL REVIEW In this horoscope, 5th/10th houselord Venus is yogakaraka. Venus/Venus dasha started from July-2016. Native has not seen any yogakaraka results but she has grown in confidence and started focusing more on her medical studies. Once Venus/Venus got over, she started seeing yogakaraka results and completed MBBS and got admitted in MD as well. A question may arise that some antardashas are quite long, such as Venus/Venus, Rahu/Rahu, Jupiter/Jupiter, Saturn/Saturn, Mercury/Mercury etc., then will there be no auspicious or inauspicious results in such a long duration? In such a scenario, the role of pratyantar dasha becomes predominant. Let us take an example in which the role of pratyantar dashalord is clearly visible: Me 6 7 Sa

Some Astrologers opine that the dashalord sometimes gives specific special results, but then it does not repeat such results in the entire remaining period of mahadasha. For example, if a child is born, then there will be no other child in the entire remaining period of mahadasha or if native is promoted, then there will be no other promotion in the entire remaining period of Mahadasha.

We have also experienced that dashalord does not stop those events that usually happen only once like marriage, death etc. For example, India's former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee died in Saturn/Saturn.

Are results cancelled or postponed One more question may arise here that if dashalord does not give its house specific results in aforesaid scenario, then would it mean that these results are cancelled and native would never get these results? In this regard Brihat Parashar, Laghu Parashari and Phaladeepika say -

Venus/Venus was in operation from May2007 to September-2010. When Venus/ Venus started, native was studying Hotel Management and during the Dasha, he completed the course and got a job. Everything was running normal.

It translates to that they give these results either in related antardasha or in homogenous antardasha. Hence, we can say that these results are postpone.

Then, pratyantar dasha of Saturn started in July-2009 for approximately six months. During this period, native suddenly got an opportunity to undergo a training abroad. The day, he was to leave the country, his father met with a car accident. Here, we see that Saturn as lord of pratyantar dasha played predominant role and gave results of maraka as soon as its dasha started. Other options and exceptions 13 | Oct.-Dec. 2020

Usefulness of Vastu for Pregnancy By Pt. Gopal Sharma

Divine Gift for Betterment of Humanity The panchataras of Bharata viz., Jyotisha, Vastu, Yoga, Vedanta and Ayurveda were given to us on a platter; whereas people across the world are striving hard to get even a fraction & feeling blessed. We have to be intelligent in understanding these great Shastras, and in the process, seek their help in betterment of our lives. We wish all mothersto-be a happy and healthy complete Vastu-based pregnancy/ safe delivery, by adhering to the below guidelines. Integration of Energies Over the last few years, we have been seeing the rising importance of Vaastu not only in India but also all over the world. Vaastu shastra is based on the cosmic energies being emitted from various bodies all over the universe. These energies are an admixture of gravitational, solar, magnetic, thermal, electrical, mechanical and many unknown (to modern science) forms of energies. When Brahmasthal, the centre of a house(controlling gravitational force) is disturbed, invariably there is lack of growth & misunderstandings among the family members/ employees. When placing of your head to the north or west(last priority) is not advised, perhaps, our saints took magnetic and thermal energies into consideration. When the north-east was referred to as Ishan or Devamoola and recommended for meditation etc and the south-east was referred to as agneya and recommended for placement of a hearth, our saints & rishis were speaking, perhaps, of solar energy. A grounding rod normally helps dissipate excess electricity from a lightning strike, into the earth. If we observe carefully, temples

of ancient times had lightning rods installed. Our saints were very much aware of electrical energies and these rods, perhaps, were used for grounding purposes. Directional Guidelines This write-up is especially written for young mothers-to-be. Apart from taking the modern medical guidelines into consideration, I am sure; certain simple Vaastu directions given here will help the ladies to bear a healthy child. It is in addition/supportive to the normal medical advice/ practice of getting a check-up once in two weeks till the thirtysixth week and then weekly, until delivery. At each visit, blood pressure is recorded, urine is tested for sugar and protein, mother’s weight-gain is seen to check for swelling of the legs and face and to detect any development of hyper-tension and diabetes during pregnancy. Couples planning their progeny can use a North-west (Vayuvya) room (primary element Air) until the onset of pregnancy. The mother-to-be can then move into a North-east (Ishanya) room as is explained later. All classical works have clearly spelt out the place of the primary element Agni or Fire as the South-east of a Mandala. It is precisely for this reason that we do not advise a pregnant lady to live in this sector (or room). It is a known medical fact that heat has a great implication

14 | Oct.-Dec. 2020

RESEARCH JOURNAL REVIEW in pregnancy. Anything that raises the lady’s core body temperature can amplify congenital anomalies, mostly during the first three months, when all main organs of the foetus are forming. Electrical and electronic Gadgets Normally, a lady’s basal body warmth is higher during pregnancy. It is, therefore, advisable for the lady to keep herself away from and being too near a television, a computer or any electric gadget (that emanates electrical or electro-magnetic energies). This way, she can avoid increasing her internal temperature to a dangerous level without even being aware of it. Normally, a woman dissipates body heat through her skin and breathing. The foetus that is growing has normally a temperature which is a little more than the mother’s and dissipates its heat across the placenta and through the mother’s blood stream. Foetal damage can occur if the mother or the foetus does not cool down quickly after the temperature of the core rises. Certain Finnish studies have revealed manifold increase of miscarriages in women using computers. Computers produce unusually high levels of extremely low frequency magnetic fields. The South-east sector of the building and the South-east sector of a room are places to be avoided by a pregnant lady at least for the first three months. Medical science tells us that by the end of the fourth month, almost all the major organs of the foetus are formed. The brain stem and the limbs are formed and begin to mature. Most pre-natal damage capable of causing birth defects occurs during this time. This period, commonly known as embryogenesis, can cause organ-specific damage. However, brain development continues throughout the period of pregnancy. Therefore, there is really no safe period for strong intense bursts or continuous doses of electro-magnetic frequencies during the months of pregnancy. Thermal Heat Research on the effects of thermal and non-

thermal electro-magnetic fields has shown reported 50 percent miscarriages in pregnant women who slept in electrically heated waterbeds. Thermal heat is, therefore, another factor that affects pregnancy. When the Eastern part of the earth is heated, its Western part remains cold. Consequently, thermal electricity generated by the sun travels over the surface of the earth from East to West. Therefore, pregnant ladies can avoid sleeping with their heads to the east. They can sleep with their heads to the south as natural polarity of the body is maintained and health of both the mother and the foetus is taken care of. Beneficial Ultra Violet Rays The pregnant lady can sleep in a north-east room. Vaastu refers to the North-east as Ishanya or Devamoola, thereby indicating it is a very important spiritually elevated zone. It is a known fact that the Sun’s rays can be split into 7 plus 2 colors. We speak of the Paramasayika mandala for human habitation (manushyalaya). This plan divides each side into 9 parts. Beginning from ultraviolet ray in the first part on the Eastern side corresponding to North-east, the Sun’s beneficial rays further split into violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red and infra-red in the last part corresponding to the Southeast. Ultra-violet and the cold colors of the spectrum are said to have a soothing effect on the body and hence, the North-east room is recommended for a mother-to-be. Since blue has a cooling and astringent effect, a soft zero candle bulb, which burns in the room during night, is suggested. The other two colors of the cooling trio viz., violet and indigo can be alternated during the entire period of pregnancy. In case of pains, indigo can be an effective anaesthetic and can induce insensibility. Violet is said to be good for bone growth, maintaining the potassium and sodium balance of the body. Expectant mothers who regularly meditate will be happy to know what Leonardo Da Vinci has to say: “The power of meditation can be ten times greater under violet

RESEARCH JOURNAL REVIEW light.....”. To put it simply, violet is an inspiring and spiritual colour. Ultra violet ray, which is the head of the cold colours and is said to normalize all metabolism and glandular activities can also be used with advantage. Time-tested practical tips for safe and normal delivery 1. Having pleasant pictures like healthy smiling children, Gods, Flowers, greenery etc in the room/ house is very good for the mothers. Paintings of dragons, wars and other violent images must be strictly avoided. They evoke tensions and feelings of unhappiness. 2. Get a Red Thread tied on the waist of the pregnant woman by her mother/ motherin law/some other elderly lady which after delivery should be wrapped around the newly born child. This ensures safety of the child/ Mother throughout the pregnancy as also during/after the delivery. 3. Well before the time of labour pain, arrange for two new brass utensils, put sugar in one of them & keep it near the head on floor. The other should be kept empty along side, with lid closed. When the need of going to hospital arises, fill raw milk in the empty utensil. The pregnant woman should touch both the utensils before going to the hospital and pray for a safe deliverly. 4. After the delivery donate both the things along with utensils in a religious place. If the delivery has taken place at night then donate in the morning. 5. Regularly seeking the blessings from the elders (Ladies & Gents) of the family is very very helpful in complete/ safe pregnancy. 6. If you are feeling weak, tired or are ill, try spending time in the East of your house. The East is believed to be ruled by Indra, the God of war and weather. Hence, Indra has power over the rising sun, which is believed to have control over the bones, eyes, heart, spinal cord, and blood circulation.

7. Playing around with different colours can make you feel more comfortable during your pregnancy. A room painted in white is the most ideal for a pregnant lady. If plain white is too stark, opt for pearly or silvery white. 8. Never sleep or sit under beams, as they are made of concrete and iron. They tend to cause stress and may cause you to fall ill. 9. Avoid a toilet that is positioned under the stairway. You will be carrying negative vibes all around the house. 10. Do not keep any thorny plants like cactus or plants that give out a milky white sap (rubber plants) in your home. Stay away from bonsai plants too, as they symbolise retarded growth. 11. Staying in vibrant environment is important for pregnant women and keeping fresh flowers in the house including drawing and dining room is helpful. 12. Always sleep on the left side of husband and while stepping down from the bed keep right foot first on the floor. 13. Avoid wearing dark and lustrous colours during pregnancy such as black, dark red, orange etc. Such colours are indicative of lunar and solar currents. Pregnant women should only wear subtle and soft colours including light shades of green, blue, white and yellow. 14. Do not sit in dark and bleak rooms, there must be enough light in rooms for good vibrations. 15. Try to read influencing and motivational books including ancient holy texts. 16. Avoiding wall clocks, mirrors, water scenery on Southern walls of the room/ home will help not only in minimizing the various health problems but would also be of great help in diagnosis thereof. With God’s grace in hundreds of cases, we could assure normal safe delivery, without even surgery, with the help of above simple, spiritual yet scientific remedies.

Parad Shivling By Tushar Joshi

Importance of Parad Shivling

of holy Parad Shivling.

Parad Shivling when worshiped with proper procedure, belief, and enthusiasm helps human beings physically, spiritually, and psychologically. It also protects people from natural calamities, disaster, external evil effects. Some of the reference in the ancient texts of ayurveda and mythological origins which justifies these belief are as follows.

People who worship Parad Shivling with all the good virtues, attain the blessings of Shivling present in all the 3 Loka's and also destroys all bad sins. Possession of Mercury Shivling, its touch, donation, meditation, worship washes away all the bad sins of present life and past life also.

Mercury Shivling can be obtained only through the blessings of renowned yogi, guru, good fortune, because of which a person is able to perform noble deeds and thereby attains moksha. Rasmartand Granth explains.- The holiness, auspiciousness acquired by the sight and worship of purified Parad Shivling is crore times more then that of lakh of other Shivling. As just the sight of Parad Shivling neutralises an individual from dreadful sins like Brahmahatya, Cow's laughter and on touching Parad Shivling a person is completely relieved of all these sins as quoted by Lord Shiva himself. According to Ras Ratna Samuuchayy, it is consideresd that Shivling made of pure mercury is unique which leads to longetivity of life, prosperity, also washes away the sins from ones life. Holy blessing which is obtain by performing 100 Ashwamedha Yagya, donating Lakhs of cows, donating ample of gold, and taking holy bath in all the four pilgrimage places (Char Dham) is equal to the sight (Darshan)

Writings of Sant Gyandev - Mercury Shivling is considered the best to attain success and progress in today's world. One can buy everything with money but purified Mercury Shivling (Yantrasiddha and Pranpratishtha Yukta) is possessed by only few lucky people. All Mahatmas, Sadhus of the world have stated that people who have worshiped pure Parad Shivling or even have got an opportunity to touch it are the luckiest as they get Bhautik (Spiritual) happiness along with Jeevan Mukti (Salvation). That is the reason why wealthy people, Sadhu Sanyasi (Saints), Politicians, Film Personalities, Brahmins try to obtain pure Mercury Shivling. Writings from Rudra Samhita and Shastra - It states that Ravan was a Rassiddha Yogi, and hence he used to worship Parad Shivling through which he was able to make Lord Shiva happy, and through which he was able to make his kingdom of gold. Similarly Banasur (Rakshas) also worshipped Parad Shivling and attained his desired wishes. Yoga Shikoupanishad Granth states.- It states that Parad Shivling is Maha-Linga, also it is home to Lord Shiva's divine powers hence called "Shivalaya". It's attainment leads to

Sarva Darshan Sangraha states - It states that Lord Siva had told goddess Parvati that if a person worships Parad Shivling, fear and death cannot come closer and poverty never resides at his place. Brahmapuran states.- It states that people of all the 4 categories according to Hindu Religion (Namely Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudras) and even females can worship and attain blessings of Parad Shivling. Brahma Vaivarta puran states.- It states that till the time there is existence of moon and the sun in the universe, till that time a person who worships Parad Shivling gets all its benefits in the form of wealth, prosperity, success, honour, respect, offsprings, intelligence which leads to the completion of satisfactory lifespan and attain moksha. Shiv Puran states - It states that people who slaughter cow, malign others, veerghati, who influence abortion, who trouble their parents, the sins of such people can also be washed away by only the sight of Parad Shivling. Vayuviya Puran states- It states that healthy body, longeitivity of life, prosperity and all other wishes of a person can be fulfilled by worshiping Parad Shivling.

due to which various disorders are cured, similar kind of an experience is felt by just the sight of Parad Shivling. It further states that such an Amrutmayi (Nectar like), Sudhasiddha (Purified) object should be worshiped. It further explains that worshiping Parad Shivling leads to eternal peace and happiness (i.e. a person is relieved from material things like birth, death, old age, weakness, pain of dreadful bodily diseases). Further it explains that Para (Mercury) is a by product of conception of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, hence in different forms it relieves human beings of their physical, spiritual, psychological disorders. Reference from Rasarnav Tantra states - It states that a person who worships Parad Shivling, aquires all the four Purusharthas (4 vital parts of life ), those are Dharma (Noble Deeds), Artha (prosperity), Kama( Sexual Desires), Moksha (Eternal Peace, Salvation). Further importance of Shivling is explained in a way that happiness, Prosperity (Punya) obtained by just the sight of a purified Parad Shivling is crore times more then worshipping thousands of renowned Shivling. According to the Shivnirnay Ratnakar states.-

It states about the importance and usefullness of pure Parad Shivling, in a form where spiritual powers like (Anima, Mahima, Garima, Ladhima, Prapti, Prakanta, Proshatva, Vishitwa), Ashta Siddhis like Simha, Vrushya, Hathi, Kalasha, Pankha, Vaijayanti, Bheri, Deepak) or (Brahmin, Cow, Agni, Gold, Tupa (Ghee), Sun, Water, King), Kubers 9 Wealth (Padma, Mahapadma, Shankha, Makar, Kachap, Mukund, Kunda, Neel, Kharva) all the holiness of the above mentioned Shaktis and Siddhis are present in Parad Shivling itself.

It explains that worshipping a Shivling made of gold gives Punya million times more than worshiping Shivling made of stone. Similarly worshiping Shivling made of mani (Gemstones i.e. Manibaddha gives punya million times more then the Shivling made of gold. Further it explains that worshiping Narmadeshwar Banalinga gives million times more punya than worshiping Manibaddha Shivling. At the end it states that worshiping a purified auspicious Parad Shivling gives million times more punya than even the Narmadeshwar Banalinga. Thus it is clear that out of all the Shivling made of different materials and pilgrimage sites, one made of purified Parad (Mercury) is considered above par (excellent).

Reference from Rasratna Samucchaya states.- It states that the way an individual feels eternal happiness, satisfaction after worshipping their Lord, an aura of the Lord

Mercury (Parad) is also known as quick silver or flowing metal. The glory of Parad Shivling has been stated in the puranas, shastras and tantra text. It is said to be the seed of

poured in the form of strips (ladi) which is used to make the shivling.

In the ancient grantha (book) named Parad Samhita many rare medicinal herbs are mentioned which can help in the process of purifying mercury and removing all the doshas (ill effect) from it to make it stable and solid. Some important herbs like Chitrak, Nakhshinkani, Vyagrapadhi, Shankpushpi, Bhilavaa, Putrajivika,Laajwanti, Neem, Shami, Soamlata, Jatamaasi, Vakratundi, Kanguni, Jalakumbhi, Mahakali, Dantimool, Kumpari, Devdaali, Aawala, Indravan, Bel, Safed palas, Dudhi, Shivlingi, Safed gunj ect. play an important role in the purification process. After this stage mercury (Parad) comes completely in a pure from by undergoing the Ashtasanskar (eight stages of purification) as per the Parad Samhita.

Stage 7 - The unique one piece die-casted Parad Shivling made from pure solid mercury.

Only such stable and solid form of mercury can withstand at very high temperature when heated. It can also be made to powder by crushing as well as can be turned into liquid form by heating again. This siddha Parad is then formed to make the unique Murtibaddha or Agnibaddha 'Parad Shivling'. If it comes in contact with gold or gold plated ornaments it has the power to change the color of gold into white or silver in color. This itself proves the purity and authenticity of our products.

Therefore a compact form of mercury (Parad) is of great significance because it is extremely helpful in concentrating the mind. Mercury has a property of liquidity which, in itself involves the difficult process of solidification. It is believed that, to have a Shivling made of mercury (Parad) one must be blessed through good karmic deeds of the previous birth.

Stages of making Parad Shivling Stage 1- Ayurvedic medicinal herbs used in the process of purifying mercury (Parad). Stage 2 - Ayurvedic medicinal herbs used in the process to make mercury (Parad) solid. Stage 3 - Process of crushing semisolid mercury in herbal juices to remove further impurities. Stage 4 - Process of heat treatment done on solid mercury (Parad) to make it withstand at high temperatures gradually. Stage 5 - Final process of purification done while heating solid mercury (Parad) with the help of herbal oils. Stage 6 - Purified stage of solid mercury (agnibaddha or murtibaddha Parad)

Significance of Parad Shivling in Tantra All the metals and sub-metals found in the world send out waves. Mercury is also a metal and sends out its waves likewise. As mercury(Parad) is considered the most unstable among all the metals, similarly a persons mind is also very unstable and wavering. Both are closely related. If mercury is stabilized by destroying its unsteadiness, its waves will also be stable and steady. This will cause a good effect on a persons mind. If one meditates beside a Parad Shivling, the mind naturally gets concentrated.

Mercury (Parad) is a very pious and sacred metal. Therefore it should not be immersed in any kind of hot or boiling liquid like milk, water etc. By doing so may cause mercury (parad) to become unstable thereby damaging the idols. Suvarnapuri Rasling In the world of metals mercury (parad) represents lord shiva and copper represents mata Parvati. According to the ancient grantha Parad samitha only agnibaddha parad (solid mercury that can withstand in high temperature) is able to convert copper into a yellowish golden metal. The shivlinga made from this metal is known as the 'Suvarna Rasling'. Some specific medicinal herbs, roots and leaves have the ability to make mercury solid and withstand at high temperature (agnibaddha). The Suvaranarupi Rasling is

Stage 5 - Pouring molten mercury into molten copper results into a small blast with crackling sound and thick smoke.

According to ancient metallurgy, metals are also meant as representatives of gods. As mercury (Parad) is considered or said to be the seed of Lord Shiva, likewise gold and coper is also the representative of Mata Parvati (Mahadevi).

Stage 6 - A new yellowish golden metal formed by the fusion of solid mercury(parad) and copper poured in the form of strips (ladi).

Making of Suvarna Rasling with Mercury (Parad) and Copper

Stage 8 - The new molten metal is poured into the die to take the shape of a Shivling.

After undergoing the process of ASHTASANSKAAR (eight stages of purification) as per the 'Parad Samhita', mercury (Parad) is called as 'Siddhaparad or Agnibaddha Parad. Only such Parad has the capacity to withstand a high temperature in the heating process, and only this agnibadhha Parad has the power of converting copper into a yellowish golden metal. Copper is melted in the furnace at a very high temperature about 1050 degrees and at the same time mercury is also melted separately. When both the metals melt down, mercury is slowly poured into the crucible of molten copper. This process of mixing the two metals result in a small explosion with a big crackling sound and thick smoke. The final result of this mixture is the new yellowish golden metal.

Stage 9 - The unique die-casted one piece Shivling also known as the suvarnarupi rasling.

This metal is again melted in the furnace at about 1050 degrees and then die-casted to make the Shivlinga. A Shivlinga made from this new metal is known as the ‘Suvarna Rasling’ in Parad Samhita. After the final finishing treatments like grinding, buffing and polishing it is coated with a one gram gold plating which gives the Shivling its golden look. Stages of making Suvarnarupi Rasling Stage 1 - Pure solid form of mercury (Parad). Stage 2 - Pure form of solid mercury (Parad) and copper balls used in the making suvarnarupi rasling. Stage 3 - Crucible filled with solid mercury and copper balls are kept in the furnace for melting. Stage 4 - Process of pouring hot molten mercury into molten copper to form a new golden metal.

Stage 7 - The new yellowish golden metal is kept in a crucible and placed in the furnace for melting.

Benefits of Parad Shivlinga It had been explained in the ancient granths (book) like Ras Ratnakar, Ras Chandasu, Parad Samhita, Rasendara Chudamani ect. that by the very touch of such Parad Shivlinga a person gets the benefit of Shiv pooja in all the three lokas (cosmic worlds). A person who acquires a Parad Shivling in his life and does correct ritualistic pooja and archana, reaps the benefits of worshiping all the Shivlingas present in the three lokas, or doing a hundred Ashwamedha yagyas, or donating ten million cows or donating ten thousand grams of gold etc. By the worship of Parad Shivling, even the heinous sin of Brahmana-hatya, Gau-hatya, Bal-hatya (dosha due to killing of a brahmin, cow or child in previous births) can be totally washed off. It is said in the Brahma-puranas that he who worships the Parad Shivling devotedly, whether one is a male, female, brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya or shurdra, gets full worldly pleasures and at last attains supreme destination (moksha) . Parad has a special significance in Ayurveda too. Wherever the Parad Shivling is established, disease and illness does not stay there. It helps in controlling various diseases like high blood pressure, asthma and heart problems and help to increase ones will power. There will never be shortage of food, wealth, money or clothing and will bring prosperity to ones house or office.r

It is strongly recommended for those facing financial difficulties and wish to earn wealth in abundance. It is believed to bestow immense benefits to the performer of this homa. 24. Bhagavadgita homam : Gita, a part of Maha Bharata, is considered as an essence of all philosophies. Having been told itself from the Divine mouth of Lord Krishna, its benefits, especially spiritual and divine, cannot be told in a single paragraph and the same can be only felt by the Yajman (the person, who sponsors the Yagya).Bhagavad Gita Yajna is performed to get the essence of Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad Gita Yagya is an offering to fire accompanied by the reciting of the verses from the Bhagavad Gita. The Gita as given by the supreme Lord Krishna representing supreme Narayana to Arjuna as Nara encompasses the real meaning of all the Upanishads. 25. Punyahavachanam: Punyahavachanam is performed after the 10-day ‘impure’ postnatal period, this usually involves the cleansing the house and purifying it by performing ganapathy puja and kalasha puja and the mantras are chanted to invoke the power in water and the purified water is sprinkled on the baby, mother, father and everyone in the house and prokshanam is done in all parts of the house. 26. Agnimukam: Agnimukham is not a homam in the strict sense. It is a preparation for the Homam. Agni Mukham is the preparation of the sacred Homa fire using wood and other articles used for performing homa. 27. Sri vidya navavarana homam: The Srividya Navavarana Pooja is called Tantraraj or king of the tantras and Sriyantra is called Yantraraj or the king of the yantras. It is a detailed ritualistic Pooja which takes about three hours. It involves invoking with beeja mantras, the 64 vatikas, invoking over a hundred Kalas of Agni, Surya, Chandra, Vahni, Brahma, Vishnu, Eswara, Rudra, Sadasiva etc, then another 100+ invocations to the three Manava gurus and several divya gurus,Devi Lalita Tripurasundari’s four Astras (weapons) and her Parivara (retinue) Devis. Then Chatushathyupachara (64 services) pooja, then bathing the Sriyantra/Devi with Panchamrut (mixture of water, milk, curds, ghee and honey) reciting Durga Sooktam, Sri Sooktam, Purusha Sooktam and Rudra Sooktam. It ends with 108 times recital of her Maha Shodasi Mantra – called Mantraraj of king of the mantras. 28. Agnistoma : Agnihoma literally means ‘praise of Agni’. The system of sacrifices (yajñas and yāgas) forms the link between men and god. Men propitiate gods through them and gods respond by bestowing upon men by fulfilling their desires. This is the doctrine propounded in the scriptures like the Bhagavadgitā. Somayāga is a general name for those sacrifices in which libations of the soma juice are offered in the duly consecrated fire. Agnihoma is a typical Somayāga, forming the prakhti or model for other Soma sacrifices. It is such an integral part of another wellknown sacrifice, Jyoti- homa, that these two are often identified same.
