Sponsored by the Fort Worth Country Day Visual Art Department, Black & White Images provides a forum for exhibiting student photographs from regional private and public high schools. The exhibition offers students an opportunity to exchange ideas, recieve due recognition and display outstanding photography. This year, Fort Worth Country Day received enteries from 13 schools. Laura Wilson, the juror, selected the prints for inclusion in the show. Students and instructors alike should be proud of the quality of work in the exhibition.

j u r o r ’ s s t a t e m e nt I want to congratulate all of the students who participated in the Black & White Images competition. As a photographer who has been working for almost 40 years, I am always impressed by the curiosity and skill level of young people. The work submitted was strong. I was particularly impressed by the high level of composition and form. While much of the work captured a modern and changing world, an equally impressive portion captured the day-to-day world of the student. Instructors must be recognized for their daily commitment to teaching, encouraging and sustaining such a high level of excellence. I felt honored to serve as the judge for this year’s Black & White Images. It was very difficult to narrow down the show’s winners from such a large selection of fine work. All are worthy of exhibition. I encourage each of you, whether you continue with photography or not, to keep your eyes open, keep looking and keep demanding the highest standard of aesthetic excellence in the world around you. Congratulations and keep your eyes open! Laura Wilson
