social-emotional and learning support A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT IS ONE OF THE MOST ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS TO FOSTERING POSITIVE EMOTIONS FOR GROWTH AND EXPRESSION. HEALTH AND WELLNESS Social and emotional skills are critical to being a good student, citizen and worker. We value your child’s well-being as much as we value their academic success. We care for and develop the whole child. To best support these objectives, FWCD provides each school division with its own Health and Wellness Counselor. Students’ abilities to learn and maximize their potential depends not just on instruction, but on the quality of a safe and nurturing environment. The FWCD climate, sense of belonging with peers, positive relationships with educators, and the feedback they receive all contribute to the overall academic landscape. LEARNING SUPPORT We strive to foster overall development of capable students through our academically rigorous college-preparatory program. However, we understand that some students may occasionally require additional academic assistance to achieve their education goals. For this reason, we provide two Academic Support Coordinators in Lower School, one in Middle School and one in Upper School. These professionals help students reach their full potential.
community service and service learning ONLY THROUGH SERVICE CAN ONE FULLY DISCOVER A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SELF AND DEVELOP AUTHENTIC EMPATHY AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS. Acts of service pave the way for a love of philanthropy. That’s why service to our school, to the greater community, and to humankind is indispensable to a well-rounded student. FWCD’s goal is to educate students about the role and benefits that community service and service learning play in the quality of life for the citizens of FWCD, Fort Worth and beyond. FWCD believes it is responsible for providing opportunities, role models and support to its students to promote their active involvement in service. We also embrace our place in the greater Fort Worth community and acknowledge a responsibility to contribute through thought and deed to the city that has been our home since FWCD’s founding. FWCD actively promotes age-appropriate volunteer and service-learning opportunities in each division through multiple local charitable organizations. We also encourage our students to participate in their respective Student Councils to take the lead in these experiences.
