Welcome to Falcon Country Dear Falcon Fans, Thank you for supporting our teams, our athletes, our coaches and our opponents. Here at Fort Worth Country Day, we have a wonderfully storied and proud athletic history that involves Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) championships, stellar athletes who have taken their experiences from FWCD to the collegiate level, and plenty of other athletes whose careers did not go beyond high school but who benefited both from our coaches’ teaching and from the powerful experience of being a member of a team. With their efforts and their attitudes, our student-athletes make us proud. Our coaches make us proud as well. With high standards set by our Athletic Director, Brian Phelps, we have educators running our practices and guiding our games to get the most out of our studentathletes. So, as you support the players, don’t forget to appreciate the dedication of their coaches as well. No doubt you are reading this program because you are a Falcon fan. We appreciate your support, both the calm clapping type and the wildly exuberant variety as well. Our players benefit so much from your presence and from your enthusiasm. In all of that enthusiasm, I remind you of our desire to model for our athletes the best possible sportsmanship. As fans, that means we do not “ride” referees, and we certainly do not hassle opposing players or teams. We respect our opponents, and we trust that our referees are doing their best. Our school’s high standards for behavior are right up there with our high standards for performance. We should always be aiming high. Win or lose, though, let us give reason to be thought of as That School, the one that always competes to win and the one with the always respectful players and fans. Please help Mr. Phelps and his coaches in our efforts to be That School. Go Falcons,
Eric V. Lombardi Head of School

Welcome
I want to personally welcome you to Fort Worth Country Day. I am tremendously excited to have the pleasure of joining the FWCD community, as my family and I have already received a warm welcome from so many of you. At FWCD our athletes, coaches and facilities are championship quality. But what makes our athletics program stand out is that we are all in it together and Together‌ Everyone Achieves More. We believe that in sports, developing strength, resilience and friendships matter. We emphasize participation, the development of skills and sportsmanship. Our Athletic Department strives to provide exceptional programs, superior facilities and skilled coaches, so that our student-athletes have the best opportunity to compete at the highest level possible.
Balance is essential to success for all student-athletes as they learn effective time management techniques, study skills and proper nutrition habits. Our coaches work as mentors on and off the field, guiding our students as they grow and learn lessons that will serve them well into adulthood. At the end of each season, it is our goal for students to realize that they are part of something much more than a team. That’s what Falcon pride is all about. I hope that you will join us in supporting our teams at a contest at the outstanding facilities our community members have helped us provide to our athletes. I also hope that you decide to get involved in some way to continue supporting FWCD and Falcon athletics. I look forward to partnering with you as we continue to build upon being the best that we can possibly be at FWCD in academics, the arts and athletics.
Brian Phelps Director of Athletics

Dear Falcon Family, Welcome to Falcon Athletics v. 2018-19! Do you feel that energy, enthusiasm and electricity in the air for Falcon sports? We sure do! We seriously cannot remember a time when there has been as much anticipation for the start of the FWCD sports year as there is RIGHT NOW—and our Falcon sports memories go way back to the very beginning of the School. Our new Athletic Director, Brian Phelps, hit the ground running this summer. Brian brings fresh vitality and a clear vision for excellence in all our sports programs. We could not be more thrilled to welcome Brian and his wife, Allison, and their children, Mason ’30, Meran ’26, Madden ’24 and Hawk as members of our Falcon family—and newly minted Texans! Be sure to look for them on campus, introduce yourselves, and offer them a warm Falcon welcome of your own. We are fired up and ready to rally around all of our fall athletes in cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, football and volleyball. Thank you for supporting the advertisers in this sports program! Thank you for supporting Falcon Club by volunteering and giving of your time and treasure! Thank you for supporting our student-athletes by wearing your Falcon spirit wear to games and around town! And a BIG thank you to those who agreed to be a part of the 2018-19 Falcon Club Leadership Team! Go Falcons!
Bari (Buckner) ’83 and John Brookman ’80 2018-19 Falcon Club Presidents

Thank You! Although I am new to the FWCD community, it did not take long to realize the significant role and impact the 2017-18 Presidents of the Falcon Club, Holly and Josh ’92 Korman, had in supporting athletics. Both Holly and Josh put in countless hours of hard work to oversee memberships, program ads, concessions and the many volunteers that resulted in raising $105,000 for FWCD athletic and PE programs. Each and every person from the Falcon Club to the Athletic Department and Business and Advancement Offices played a huge role in the year’s success! It truly takes a team effort, and I am so proud to be the newest addition to the team. We, in the Athletic Department, sincerely appreciate all of the time, effort and support throughout the year. I am honored to be a part of such a great team, and we thank everyone for putting the “fun” into raising funds for Falcon Club. I look forward to seeing you cheer on the Falcons and supporting this year’s Falcon Club!
