Welcome to

FWC

Welcome to Fort Worth Christian School! I am excited and honored that you are taking a moment to consider our school. I would like the opportunity to personally meet you, but, more importantly, I am excited that you will see first-hand what makes our community such an excellent place to build your child’s life foundation. As I travel across our 40-acre campus, I see our students happily engaged in a variety of experiences that create a strong sense of community and belonging while simultaneously preparing them to thrive and lead in the 21st Century. If you want your children to be integral members of a small, Christ-centered community where students are known and can discover their passion in fine arts, a highly-advanced technology program, state-championship athletic teams, daily chapel, rigorous academics, robotics, and so much more, Fort Worth Christian is a place for you to explore. Thank you for considering us as your partners in preparing your children-preschoolers and elementary, middle, and high school students-to thrive and lead the next generation. Yours In Christ, Ken Cheeseman President

Academics

Elementary School

The most important element of any school is its teachers. Our teachers are nurturing, creative, state-certified professionals who love teaching children. Our students are excited about their learning and are challenged daily to use their talents to glorify God. Chapel Daily chapel consists of praise, prayers, and Bible readings led by teachers, special speakers, and students. Parents are welcome to attend. Co-Curricular Courses All students have specialized teachers for art, technology, music, physical education, Spanish, and library. Enrichment • Academic Meet (4th, 5th) • Educational Field Trips • Class Musicals • Spelling Bee • Service Projects

• Band/Chorus (5th) • Overnight Trips (3rd–5th) • Strings Program • Student Council • Honor Choir

Robotics Students experience hands-on learning with WeDo from LEGO Education. WeDo employs an easy-to-use software interface and a cross-curricular, plug’n’teach activity pack that improves communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Middle School Fort Worth Christian School educates the whole student. Middle school activities include not only academic classroom time, but also opportunities for service and spiritual development, as well as athletic and academic competitions. The middle school provides a bridge from the highly structured elementary grades to the high school level where there is a greater emphasis on independent learning and higher expectations. Electives All students have the opportunity to take the following electives during their middle school years: Band, World Drumming, Strings, Chorus, Art, Speech and Drama, Technology, Home Economics, and Spanish. In grade 8, they may take Spanish, Latin, or Technology for high school credit. Spiritual Life Students attend a daily chapel time as well as a Bible class. Opportunities for community service exist throughout the year. Recognizing that all of one’s life should be lived to bring honor to God, all activities are viewed with a Christian perspective whether in Bible class, on the playing field, or raking leaves for an elderly neighbor. Enrichment Many learning experiences take place outside of our classrooms. The 6th graders go to Arkansas for a service-oriented trip; 7th graders take a class trip to Big Bend National Park. These students camp in the outdoors and enjoy God’s beauty. 8th graders travel to Washington DC and New York City to visit the places studied in history and learn more about the founding of our country. Students also try out for various academic competitions from area spelling bees to statewide academic meets. Students have opportunities for leadership positions in Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, and cheerleading.

Student Spotlight David Jennings

"I like FWC because all the people are really nice there and it's all about family. I like that we do performances on stage because it builds our moral fiber. I like how everyone accepted me when I first came because I was really worried about making new friends. The teachers are really nice there. I really love FWC."

iLearn @ FWC Each teacher at FWC is provided a computer, and most an iPad. Each classroom is fully equipped according to the demands of the subject, and most include a projection system, document camera, and Apple TV. Each student in grades PK-5 is issued an iPad, and 6–12 is issued a MacBook Air and an email account. This account, combined with Google Drive, the iLearn@FWC learning management system, and various other tools (at the teacher's discretion), are used to maintain excellent communication between students and teachers, and between teachers and parents. The RenWeb student information system is used to track attendance, assignments, grades, and discipline. Both students and parents have access to these records as soon as they are entered. FWC has an Apple Certified Mac Technician and Apple Foundations Trainer on staff.

Mission Trips Cardinal Service Week was established to support the mission of Fort Worth Christian School and more importantly the Great Commission. Through unique service opportunities, students will see the world as Jesus intended. Students can choose to serve in one of several areas: campus, community, city, state, nation, or world.

The ParentPartners initiative pairs FWC families together to integrate new families into the Cardinal community. By focusing on building community, inviting prayer, and providing resources, we facilitate intentional opportunities for parents to partner in a most important calling - equipping the next generation of leaders who love God and know Jesus.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Deuteronomy 6:5
