Asleep at the Wheel*
Radio Highway's The Music of the Eagles*
Thurs., June 16
Sat., June 18
Asleep at the Wheel has been part of the American roots music landscape for more than 50 years. Asleep at the Wheel became a cornerstone of the Austin, Texas, scene upon its arrival in 1973. Inspired by Western swing and honky-tonk country, the band has accrued 10 Grammy Awards. Fifty years in, Asleep at the Wheel represent an important cornerstone of American roots music, even though some of its members and audiences represent a new generation. See why that farreaching appeal remains a testament to the group’s initial vision at CITG.
Amplified by a full rock band and accompanied by singers Terry Brock, Glenn DeLaune and John Hines, creator Brent Havens guest conducts this rock ensemble as they capture The Eagles’ amazing vocal harmonies surrounded by the orchestra in a concert rich with melodies and lush gardens like you’ve never heard before.
Sarah Jaffe* Sun., June 19
Jackopierce* Fri., June 17 Jack O’Neill and Cary Pierce, the “Jack O” and “Pierce” who make up the seminal duo Jackopierce, are celebrating 30 years of making music that has amassed a loyal following of millions of fans across the country and the world with a super high-energy live show and what the Dallas Morning News has called “spotless harmonies.”
A versatile singer/songwriter whose career has traversed synth pop, indie rock, and chamber folk, Sarah Jaffe consistently brings both experimental ambition and a melodic pop sense to her work. Based in Denton, Texas, she first earned accolades for the stark folk-oriented style of her debut EP and subsequent 2010 full-length Suburban Nature. Her folk-pop song "Clementine" was used in the 2011 film Life Happens, after which Jaffe began to transition her sound toward an increasingly more experimental pop style with albums like 2012's The Body Wins and 2017's electronicdriven Bad Baby.
*This concert will be performed without orchestra
