The Hottest New R&B/ Neo Soul/ Jazz Diva & GEntertainment Magazine has her.
From the Editor Another year has come to an end and looking back over these last few months we have really accomplished a lot. It is really difficult to take the high road and not put a lot of these lames on blast; but I always step back into reality knowing that these people want me to say something about them in order to shed light on the ish that they are doing… Anyway, as we continue to strive towards perfection we have done so much and have met so many people. Over the next couple of months some big changes will take place with this publication that will shake up the entertainment scene everywhere!!! We have been learning and growing. I have been making new partnerships and cutting ties with dead weight. We look forward to working with new models, artists, fashions designers and business owners this upcoming year. If you thought that we were vocal this year just wait until 2013 we plan to be a household name. There have been several people that have wanted to work with us, but due to time etc. we were not able to do a lot of things. I honestly feel blessed that we have been so busy that we couldn’t do all of the things that we wanted to do. In the new year things will be different. GEntertainment Magazine will be in a city near you, so you be ready. The hottest web-based publication ever just got hotter!

fãxxà gtÜààËá Z|yàá 9 `ÉÜx Would you tell the readers a something about your business? Genia: We’ve been in business now for a couple of months. We are a jewelry, purse and accessories shop. We carry accessories for men and kids as well. I make everything affordable, so our customers can easily purchase our products and be stylish at the same time. Is this a family business? Genia: Yes, it’s just Kelvin and I. We have three sons that come down and help out. We’ve been blessed enough where we can run it with just the family and teach the kids how to run a productive business.

N frwi With her intellectual, musical, civic and spiritual proclivities having been cultivated since age four, Nfrwi Quiana pursues a multidimensional career as a singer-soloist, poet/lyricist, studio-recording vocalist, and teacher. Because she sings, writes, and speaks, she and her husband, Kelvin has founded Llah Llah Ent. to manage the many endeavors growing out of her multiple talents. Embodying all that is meant by Lorraine Hansberry’s famous phrase, “to be young, gifted and black.” A lyric coloratura soprano, Nfrwi was inducted into Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women. Sought after for her exquisite and moving vocal interpretations, Nfrwi has been a featured soloist. In Florida and her home state of Delaware, she has received awards of recognition for her performances by the fraternal organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, and Phi Beta Sigma. Nfrwi was a finalist for a prized apprenticeship with the Houston Ebony Opera in Texas. Having been trained in classical European music for more than ten years, she became a member of the National Opera Association. She sang the leading role in the B-CU production of scenes from Lakme (The Flower Song). Her other performances included scenes from The Magic Flute (Ach ich fuhl’s) and La Rodine (Chi il Bel Sogno). Since she was a toddler, Nfrwi has been singing in the church. She performed with the college Gospel ensemble, Eliakim. In 2000, a scholarly study that she co-conducted and –authored, “Vocal Health in Young Singers,” appeared in the Journal of Vocal Health. And for various choirs and soloists, she has filled the role of Vocal Coach. In March 2003, at Tennessee State University’s hosting of the annual conference of ASCAC, Nfrwi presented her scholarly paper, “What is Beauty? The Miseducation of the Diasporan African Woman.” At the ASCAC banquet, Nfrwi’s powerfully beautiful performance of “Motherless Child” moved the President to spontaneously vow to recruit her by any means. After auditioning for the Music Department, she was formally offered a full music fellowship from TSU. Nfrwi was already a bright star when she set foot on Bethune-Cookman’s campus. She toured Austria, England, France, Holland, and Italy as a soprano with the United States Collegiate Choir. In July of 2007, she returned from touring Italy as a soprano with a chorale named Fruits of the Spirit. And throughout the summer and winter on 2012, her melodic voice has graced the Bahamas. Her beauty shines as bright as her talents. Nfrwi has reigned as the national “Miss Shrine” of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine. At B-CU, she reigned as Miss Sophomore. And back home in Delaware, she’d won the “Living Doll” Award as an Alpha Kappa Alpha Debutante of the Zeta Omega chapter. Nfrwi recently won the 2012 showcase in the Birmingham chapter of Dorinda Clark-Cole’s National Singers Musicians Conference. She will grace the stage of the Stellar Awards in January 2013. She continues her love affair with music by working with nationally known musicians in a myriad of genres. Nfrwi spreads her wings over all styles of music. She has shared the stage with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Astrology / Resurrection, Alyson Williams, Richard Smallwood, Moses Hogan, Kindred the Family Soul, Ruben Studdard, Kim Burrell, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Johnny Kemp, Lou Rawls, John P. Kee, and Glenn Jones just to name a few. http://www.nfrwi.com/gig/
\ met with Nfrwi & her husband/manager Kelvin Hall on the Southside of Birmingham in a coffee shop for our interview. As we sat and talked Kelvin began to reveal who and what Nfrwi is as an artist… Kelvin: She has the ability to touch your heart in a way that I haven’t seen in years. I’ve seen her make grown men cry...weep like children. Just from a melancholy note that she pulled out or the way that she got into a song. I’ve seen her jump around in the spirit with artists that you only see on tv, but she was still herself at the end of the night. The way that she makes a person feel when she sings is indescribable. I’ve been into music since I was ten my pops was a dj, so to spot a person that is gifted in music is easy for me. Nfrwi has the talent to surpass a lot of the talent that I see in the street or do better than a lot of the talent that’s on the radio. She has range, personality, and stage presence. It’s hard to get all of that in one package and to have it sound and look professional. I pride myself on representing the best as a sales person.
Ts Nfrwi came and sat down she asked me if I heard one of her songs entitled “Tell Me”. She pulled out her phone and politely let her music fill our area of the coffee shop. You can hear her music at http://www.reverbnation.com/label/ control_room/77691#!/Nfrwi Tell my readers something about yourself. Nfrwi: I was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. I am very proud...I’m not one of those artists that will go out there and say I’m from the Philadelphia area. I am from Wilmington Westside...Northside, Delaware. What actually made you get into music? Nfrwi: Let me put it like this, I have pictures of me as a toddler one maybe two years old laughing and playing (playing piano motions) at my mom mom’s and pop pop’s organ. My family all joked. They said before I talked I was humming. (laughing) I don’t remember that in the womb thing when God and music and it all was in me...I don’t remember when all that happened.
want air I need air. I need it. If I’m singingPage on 20 somebody’s stage I’ll be singing in the shower, singing to my child, my family...I’m going to sing the only question is where. Is anybody in your family into music like that? Nfrwi: Not as heavily as I am. It’s funny, because my mom mom, my dad’s mom, is a contralto, my aunt is an alto and I came out the soprano. I grew up in the U.M.C. Church with my mom mom, my dad’s mom. She and all of her sisters on certain Sundays would do quartets and quintets and the harmony was crazy. My mom sang in the choir and my dad played an instrument in the band in high school or middle school. Kelvin: Tell him what mom mom and pop pop came from. Ok, tell us about it. Nfrwi: For those of you that may not know. Depending on where you live. In certain places you might have a nanna, in certain places you might have a mom mom, you might have a grandma, you might have a poppa, grandpa, or pop pop. I had family from Georgia, the Caribbean, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. So, I got all of them. What inspired you to write the song “Tell Me”? Nfrwi: It was a sample track that my husband made and I wrote to it. I went to Boss Ultra Lounge and I heard this gentleman on the keys and I said that’s the one...that’s the one I want playing on “Tell Me”. Time went on and I found out that his wife was my fraternity sister, Sigma Alpha Iota, and everything worked out. I researched everything to properly sample to give credit to whoever created the song that your looking to sample. So we tried that and we said lets see what it sounds like if we compose something on our own. We were like oh yeah lets get rid of that other stuff and we’re gonna use your composition. So, Honey’s influence, my lyrics and Byron’s composition...we put it all together and it was “Tell Me”. It’s the Philadelphia sounds influence on me. The grown and sexy

continued from page 20… it doesn’t get nasty, it doesn’t get dirty, but you know what they saying and you know what they talking about. I miss music like that sometimes. You don’t always want to see the woman that’s half naked or the guy with no shirt. Put your cloths on tease me...give me something to think about. When I was writing the song it’s crazy because the bridge is about my husband… “grab my waist pull me close,” I love that. Touching somebody’s back after a hard day, it’s like their hands are magic. It doesn’t have to be cartwheels in the bed room sometimes it’s just the little things...that’s where it came from.
hickey on the whatchamacallit people these people aint paying you no mind. Find your target market see where they are and get into their flow. Address your art like you would your job. Do your planning and preparation. You have to do something you’ve never done to get something you’ve never had.
So, are a lot of your songs husband related?
Nfrwi: kelvin.lewis.hall@gmail.com, nfrwi.com and click on fan fan love, (205) 420-1937 all of those things will reach Kelvin Hall.
Nfrwi: (laughing) Some of them. I look at it like writing poetry. Sometimes I’ll feel someone’s situation and I’ll write as if I’m in his/her shoes or I’m seeing through his/her eyes. Sometimes it’s from my heart...from my gut. I created a demo album with one of my fraternity brothers and a lot of people like it, so I’ve been debating if I should release it with some new stuff as a full fledge this is me on the market album. So, you like Jazz? Nfrwi: I’ve always liked it especially Contemporary Jazz. Maysa Leak from Incognito...she was a Wonderette before that singing with Stevie Wonder. Rachelle Ferrell she is just awesome. I never wanted to disrespected it. I need somebody to teach me Jazz. I’m really excited about embarking on this new genre of music. And I hope that I can respect it because a lot of people can love it and not respect it. How do you think you have grown over the last few months or have kept growing? Kelvin: Focus on trying to make it better. Always improve your game. Always think two steps ahead this is chess not checkers. We’re trying to stay in the game and capture the king. Stay on top of your game and promote, promote, promote. Nfrwi: Find out who your target audience is. You can have the best product or doohickey in the world, but if your trying to push your doo-
Kelvin: I got one more jewel that comes to mind. Do what your doing while your doing it. Be where you are while your there. How can people contact you to book you for a show?
Do you have any shout outs? Nfrwi: Love to all of my local artists that are getting it, all of my artists that are world renowed that are not main stream, Astrology, Resurrection, Gina, Mayhem, Shavon, QueeN, Leecon, all of my musician love, Morris, Kenneth Poe, Byron Thomas, Barnett on bass, Marcus on bass, Corey on bass, Carey Too Smooth, Rod from The Worship Center and Tim Mylam.

Sometimes we don't always have the money to do what we need or want to do. Mainly for hair care and keeping it tight. If you have dreads and, want to know how to keep them maintained; Here are a few steps to do just that. Things you'll need(From your local Beauty Supply Store) Your favorite shampoo & conditioner. Twist & Lock gel or whatever locking product you prefer. Double prong clips Water bottle Something to keep your dreads sectioned up and out of the way such as hair clips, rubber band, scrunchie etc. Hair oil Directions 1. Make sure hair is clean. Shampoo hair two or more times de pending on length and density. 2. Condition hair 3. Towel dry hair (not completely) 4. Leave out the bottom row at the nape. Then distribute and clip hair into as many sections needed. 5. Apply twist & lock gel to the new growth area. Then palm roll dread in the direction it was previously rolled. Note: Make sure not to over twist dread to tight, this will cause breakage! 6. Take a double prong clip and place it just a bit below the new growth area, where the previously rolled hair and new growth meet. Continue this process until you reach the top.TIP: Make sure that hair stays a little damp, if you feel it getting to dry give it a little spritz with your water bottle. 7. Sit under a hooded dryer or let hair air dry completely. To do a dry test take a clip out in different sections of the head, and if the dread starts to unravel it's not dry. Just re-roll, clip and let it continue to dry. Once hair is dry, remove clips apply your favorite oil to the scalp and hair. Style as desired. "Voila"
