Verviers. With around 80 thousand inhabitants, it is
the biggest city on the network. Water has played an important role in the town’s economy, notably in the development first of its textile and later tourist industries. As a result, many fountains have been built in Verviers, leading it to be named Wallonia’s “Water Capital”. In the past the city had a significant role in the industrial backbone of belgium. Today The City’s fundamental objective is to restore Verviers to its role as the leading hub of economic activity in the borough and to position Verviers as a friendly shopping destination. For that they have a non-profit organization organizing the development process, connecting many sectors such as shopping,gastronomy and services Verviers has around 20,000 salaried jobs in companies present on the municipal territory and distributed as follows within the 3 main activity sectors: Tertiary (Services): 81.1%;Primary: 0.1%; Secondary: 18.8%. 6
