YWA (Yosemite Western Artists) Meeting and an informative demonstration, good food, and an opportunity to meet with local artists at the Gertrude School House, located on Rd. 600 in Ahwahnee (Road 600 intersects Highway 49, about 5 miles west of Oakhurst on Highway 49) 11:30 a.m.—3:00 p.m. Jerome Grimmer’s demonstration will be called “Ignorance Can Be a Good Thing.” We will address one of the most common problems plaguing artists, the problem of saying too much. If there is sufficient interest, Jerry will give a workshop capitalizing on the precepts covered in the demo. It gives a brief overview of such topics as internet scams, using social networking sites to market your art, presentation, how do copyright laws affect artists, juried art shows, and answers basic questions such as what is viral marketing, QR codes, digital watermarking, etc. The Addendum to the Modern Artist Handbook: The Hard Stuff — ($10.00) contains much more extensive information about taxes, licenses, insurance and record keeping. There is also a special bonus section on prepping for a booth event. Volume 3 Art Show Basics— ($10.00): covers information needed to put on either a one-man show or a group show, along with a sample venue contract, show budget check list, log-in sheets, etc. For an additional $5.00, a CD with usable copies of the contracts and forms discussed in the pamphlets is also available. ABOUT THE ART CALENDAR Art-Tique’s Local Art Events Calendar is a free monthly publication for the purpose of assisting artists of California’s Central Valley to find places to show/sell their art, make connections with the local art groups, and find classes, workshops, and tools that help artists develop artistic skills and the business side of art. Printed copies are usually available at the general Meetings of ACA CAG, and Allards Art supply in Fresno and the Kingsburg Art Center in Kingsburg. It is distributed on-line. Art-Tique welcomes notices and ads that agree with our stated purposes. All requests must include date, time, address and contact phone number or e-mail. If you wish to post an item to the hard copy of the calendar, it must be submitted by the 20 th of the month. Non-members wishing to advertise events must contact the Art-Event Calendar for approval. All notices sent to members are subject to approval by Art-Tique.
